  • I can just picture getting on the merry go round with a big stick of cotton candy in my hand and then going running around to all the gift stores and arcades and doing that thing were you get the ring around the bottle :D then to finish it off, going on the roller coaster until I puke :D...sorry 4 being very descriptive LOL

  • It is a great piece this music, and seeing it heard on this organ is so cool. George Baker does a good job. top stuff. Cheers.

  • He is ASIA!!!!!!!

  • I don't know which is cooler: this song, George Baker playing, or the fact it is being played on this awesome tubes organ :D

  • These guys are amazing. It's not just a matter of playing the keyboards and changing the stops without losing a beat! Just watch his feet playing the bass bars and adjusting the volume and intonation.

  • It looks like he's sight reading it.

  • I love these old theater organs. :)

  • @hatfm It's a church organ actually...they are voiced differently than a theater organ. Also the console appearance differs. Church organs usually have the traditional pull stops lined up in columns, where as a theater organ console has the stop buttons as levers lined up in rows...usually in an arch. Theatre organs usually have more vibrato and generally have a 'thicker' sound as they have many more ranks of pipes. Church organs have a more presence or a 'forward' sound.

  • 03:20 love it!

  • wanna ride the merry go round

  • Every ice cream truck should have a mini organ in it being played by a George Baker replica.

  • I wood like to know how this is creepy honestly what is the first thing that pops in your head when you hear this song horror movies would be the last think i think of lulz >:)

  • this stuff is creepy but awesome at 3 in the morning due to horror movies.

  • Какой новый колорит приобретает такое исполнение! Думаю, сам мистер Джоплин изумился бы :) Лично мне очень нравится (похоже, и маэстро-исполнителю тоже). With great respect to both: auther and performancer

  • @gadjukina

Вы абсолютно правы! Нужно поэкспериментировать с регтаймом на органе. Это звучит свежо.

  • @heath780391 Why is that? O_o

I wrote that it would be useful to make some more experiments with organ. It sounds pretty cool.

  • Being an organist where do I get this version who published it?

  • Great performance...

  • One of my favorite videos on YouTube.

  • This reminds me of the 1940s carnival or something... :D

  • This is why I want to own a pipe organ some day!!!

  • @MrCheeriohz i wish but they cost millions

  • @patrickjf100 or you can just go to your local chuch during the week when there arent that many people there and ask them if you can use their organ to play for a little wile and in most cases they will let you play :D

  • Never heard this played on an organ. Great!

  • Great job!!! I like it. Something special on pipe organ

  • nvm i had two things opened up and it sounded awful lol

  • its not the playing its the instrument

  • This may be the greatest thing since Don Preston played Louie Louie on the Albert Hall organ.

  • sounds like Disneyland Music;)

  • one-man orchestra to its real sense!!!!

  • No.. He's a bodyguard and a page turner.

  • is that a butler?!

  • He's not exactly old. Around 60, to be exact. Nevertheless a great performance. :)

  • Thank you.. Over and over . may your day stay in the light....

  • Bodyguards because of illicit "organ donors!"

  • Hey, do all organists require bodyguards? That guy was a cool customer for sure!

  • @395721899 considering how few organists are out there, it would make sense to provide each one with at least one body guard...

  • Playing organ is difficult people! All respects for this great old guy!

Forget some notes is not a disaster in this great cover!

  • check out are cover of this :p thanks

  • Victor Borge did a good job too and he was older and went on tour too.

  • Go UknoiRock!!!! Dude!!!! You are not alone!!!! You are awesome!!!! Great video kiyow. Nicely done.

  • Good job!

  • Terrific

  • Scoot Joplin did nto wat this song played too fast i have heard recordings of the way he played it and this guy is right on! the slurs etc are part of his style...

Nice job ...I think Scott would be proud!

  • @tophatbill I agree, this is the perfect speed for this piece.

  • Why isn't he playing a keyboard with his face too? lol

  • Oh... I can´t believe it! How? I tried play it on organ and it was horrible. Congratulation, cause this is perfect!

  • wow :0. the organ...look....complicated!!!! i thought i broaden my range of music by moving on to the organ after piano but now I'm having second thoughts. not only do u have to play w/ both your hands but u have to play with both your feet without looking!!!! *discouraged* :(

  • that sounds wonderful !!! love it !

  • Wow! I never tought than one day I will ear the entertainer on the pipe organ, very good arrangment and well play!

  • I don't usually say this but... OMFGLOLBBQ!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!

  • This particular Wurlitzer is most difficult to play due to the way the consoles are spaced and the drawstops are very awkward to utilize. The foot pedals require a great deal more concentration than even the larger wurlitzer's

  • check out my version of the entertainer plz :)

    Thanks :)

  • First, I believe that those who are ragging on Mr. Baker are forgetting that music invites interpretation. This is Mr Baker's interpretation of the piece, played in a stride-jazz style, every bit as legitimate as the original score. Stop ragging him for his interpretation. Opinion on whether he should do it on a 79-rank pipe organ is also specious. How can you say that the organ is not built for this music? Was the organ built for a Bach or Beethoven piece? No. It was built to play music upon.

  • @BigIrishCrooner Well said.

The Entertainer is already difficult to play with two hands on a piano. Thenn, try it with two hands, two feet AND doing the swell pedal and registrations all at once. Besides that, the pipe organ is a much "slower" instrument to play. (It's key attack is much heavier than that of piano, and it even reacts slower to key presses.)

If the piano could be compared to steering a rowing boat, a pipe organ such as this one would be akin to a battle ship.

    Well done.

  • hahaha why is he playing that in a church? im sure there are other places where you can find a nice pipe organ, reagtime just doesnt feel like church music haha

  • @memoojuentes You must be Baptist

  • That´s nice. When the congregation is gone home for fornication . The organ is playing bordello tunes.. That´s how I like it

  • WOW! That is INCREDIBLE! #OMG

This is already an incredible piece, and now it's played on my favorite instrument!!!!!!

  • love the part starting at 3:21

  • great

  • This wasn't written for a big ass organ... it was written on a piano for pianos. He played it well, but you miss a lot of the syncopated goodness with a big huffy organ.

  • When I was twelve, I played The Entertainer on the second oldest organ in the western hemisphere.

  • That sounds excellent! I would think I was listening to a Wurlitzer theatre organ! You really make that song sound great, especially with the deep base registration towards the end. Thanks for posting!

  • fake...

  • @melicool1997 Your face is fake.

  • hehe

  • @melicool1997 melicool, ur fake tight-assed basterd.

HE SAYS THIS IS FAKE! U FAGGOT

  • @melicool1997 you are fake dipshit. he is awesome

  • Good job, that's like a workout right there, not easy at that age, cut him some slack for the occasional imperfection!

  • LOL. Fucking far from OK

  • Scott Joplin would be very proud to here his music played like this !!

    Speedy

  • As a matter of fact, I didn't miss a single note.

Playing such an organ is a fullsize workout!

  • awesome

  • very good

  • wow this guy is talented/amazing

  • Awesome I love this! lol!

  • cooooooolllll. very nice on a church organ :-)

  • This video ia awesome! I am playing the piano, and the piece I am playing is by Scott J.

I am also playing The Entertainer!!!

  • this organ is huge... this guy is good, i started learning the organ like a year ago and the feet are hard although he should better use of his bazillion manuals

  • This is an amazing performance. My eyes couldn't believe what he was doing with his feet and hands all at the same time!

  • mooi gespeeld!

  • I think of an ice cream truck going by on a hot summer afternoon or a carosol in a fair or something.... good times

  • I have the greates respect for the organist: excellent playing - everybody drops a note or two, he makes 4-way independence look easy. Thanks for 4 mins 24 seconds of genius.

  • i like the pauses.. freakin awesome

  • watching his feet fascinate me. thinking how he can do that WHILE playing melody and chords is beyond me

  • Rag time is to played straight Not swung. !!

  • @wexfordchoir

    Why?

There is no "right" or "wrong" in interpreting music. If he wants to do a swingy Entertainer, who is to say he shouldn't?

Look at Booker T. and the MG's. They covered a whole lot of songs in a way "they shouldn't have", but I find most of their covers better than the originals.

  • lol

  • I just love that song and I think it sounds great

  • this is the most beutifiul music

  • oh God... :))

  • Awesome rendition. You swung it, however, and (unless I'm wrong), I don't think that's the right thing to do with a Rag. I always swing it when I play it on the piano, though, because I can't play the straight version fast enough!

  • I think it is the most appropriate thing to play on an organ. I can definitely imagine walking through an amusement park and hearing this on an old organ inside a Carousel. What could be more American?

  • good music

  • brilliant!!

  • It's not cool. But, not really bad.

What I'm saying is that rags don't fit to pipe organs.

  • @desiderius2 agree

  • @ desiderius2

but of course they do! .)

  • Scott Joplin on a pipe organ??!

    Brilliant!!!

  • @Bungay4 ur dumb

  • This Is AWESOME

  • who knew that raggtime could sound so good on organ lol:)

  • This sounds really cool.

  • Cool

  • I never thought that The Entertainer would sound so great at the organ! Congratulations!

  • I don't like the swing. -_-

    That's all. :)

    Amazing playing though.

  • its rag, not swing.

  • Oh.

    What's the difference? Time era?

  • basically, and its just not the same type of music. Rag was turn of the century. Songs like the Entertainer came out around 1902. Now the time that The Sting is actually set in would have more swing music. But they went with Rag for the movie, which was actually out of fashion at the time.

  • Ragtime, my friend, was a step towards jazz it had more of a freeform style then older music but it still hangs on to some of the traditional music theory. Also ragtime is based heavily on syncopation("overlaping" of melodys, so to speak). However many concepts of jazz are also present in ragtime such as swinging of eigth notes and, as previously mentioned, a more freeform style. It does differ from jazz however, there's no improv and also its supposed to be

  • It does differ from jazz however, there's no improv and also its supposed to be played on just piano, which isnt as common in jazz, also no blue's scales are applied in Ragtime and im sure a number of other factors that I couldnt recognize with my limited knowledge of music theory

  • I love this music

  • esta muy linda le mando un afectuoso saludo desde mexico!!!

  • try listening to Virgil fox's version, ITS AMAZING

  • Great job, but I don't like it. Organ is not for this.

It lacks the percussive impact that a piano has because it hits the strings.

Also, he messes up the initial rythm. Can be a unique cover, but this is my opinion.

  • @clapton79

Tastes can differ.... I like ragtime on the organ just BECAUSE it misses the percussive impact.

Go find a Hammond rag time version with 2nd or 3rd percussion ON, if need be :)

  • that guy looks like my boss!!! freaky

  • I would dasume this man is popular in Japan.

  • maravilhosa execuçaõ! linda música!

  • love tha part what begins at 2:33

  • nicely done. i dont think it should be played on a church organ for dedication tho....there are myriads of sacred pieces that could have demonstrated the same stops.

  • Somehow, This Reminds Me Of Charlie Cahplin..

    Hahaz..

  • I like the way he swing. He did miss a few notes but overall he plays well. I enjoyed listen to him playing this piece. Cute, sounds more like a tune in any of the cartoon. Reminds me of the cartoons that i ve watch during my childhood times. ^^

  • PEOPLE: STOP CRITISIZING THIS GUY. He's doing an amazing job!! YOU'D MISS A FEW NOTES TOO IF YOU WERE A LITTLE OLDER AND PROBABLY HAVE ARTHRITIS. gosh!. Noone appreciates good music these days.

    I loved it. :D <3

  • @UknoiRock That, and you also have to consider the organist's choosing of style.

  • @UknoiRock i like youre way of thinking! i like it too :)

  • is this a pipe organ or a digital organ?

  • ehh... pipe my friend!

  • der blättert um !

  • haha Joplin XD thats not joplin... Joplin is tha guy who wrote song... :) in the info it says George Baker performs "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin

  • If that was Scott Joplin, I'd say he was a little too...white...And as for the guy standing next to him, the organist was probably playing a number of pieces, and the guy next to him was an extra set of hands to change the stops if he had to do so speedily

  • page turner....

  • Not quite the sphincter tickle I was hoping for but enjoyable nonetheless.

  • very good playing..one critism however, since this is a rag, your eigth notes should not swing as they are when you play it..

    very good performance!

  • I actually like the swing, because everybody plays it the same way now. Haha I'm gonna incorporate this swing into the piece.

  • Same here.

  • my friend plays the piano well i will ask him to play this on a calliope.

  • you mustn't see only the hands...because when u play the organ it's harder to move your feet than your hand...and this person does it really well...good!!!!!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • exlelent exlelent

  • Well played! Personalty I think ragtime sounds great on organ or piano.

  • That's so great. It sounds and looks fantastic.

  • I love the ending with the deep bass sound!!!

  • wow!

  • why do organists get people to do things like that but not pianists or keyboard players or any other instrument which uses both hands like a woodwind or brass instrument =/

  • Haha I though that guy standing next to him was a doll first xD

    He didn't move

  • organs are so wicked they are every wind blown instrument rolled into one the knobs on the sides of the keys allow you to chose what instrument and the tone that the sound comes out as or something like that i know all this because my gma used to play organ before she got arthritis in both her hands

  • I thought the guy standing behind him was to catch any flyaway notes ! j/k

  • Comment removed

  • why is there a guy standing behind the organ player?

  • He is turning the pages so that the organ player doesn't have to stop and do it himself.

  • look at 1:47

  • F.e. to change the tone on the organ, or change the side in the notes... Maybe it was a larger concert?

  • That's the Grim Reaper, waiting for the old guy to fall over dead.

  • thats funny!!!

  • Freekin awesome

  • dude hes playin ANOTHER PIANO WITH HIS FEET! THATS AWSOME

  • pipe organs are played with hands and feet at the same time

  • these "two pianos" are called organs....

  • Man, that must require a lot of coordination! It makes my head hurt thinking about how you memorize all that.

  • it seems that it is difficult control it~

  • this makes me wanna get up and start dancing. lol. Well done!!

  • This is an amazing renditon!

  • op een orgel XD maar mooi :)

  • UPS!

  • looooool fabtastic

    SUSCRIBE

  • whats that guy standing there for lol, i'd go to church just to hear this being played

  • He's there to turn the pge maybe?

  • Sounds like a jazz version.

  • not really jazz. he's dotting first quaver, followed by semiquaver instead of the original writing which is 2 even quavers per beat.
