So impossible to choose a hero.....too ballanced. I settled with knight/ranger. Unicorns, elementals and mages pwn along with a ballanced fighter as a knight. I am loving this hero because I am too lazy to build an army. Nature and divination are a bit underwhelming but it is great to have much variety. Can have summoned army or magically tweaked fighter. I am loving it. +10 in running is great bonus too.
but if u play online can u keep ur hero or do u have to make a new one ? cause if someone plays with a hero lvl 14 and the other with a hero lvl 42 it wouldnt be that fair ...
i love this game..very original n diverse, i like the dark graphics, n the story is good..loads mof reply options in skirmish mode..just a shame the mjultiplayer is crap

It's a real shame that this game isn't really popular for multiplayer, because it is easily one of the most diverse and complex RTS games available, and it has a pretty decent RPG aspect to it.
Love this game to death. I grew up with WBC 1, then bought 2 & 3. Can't wait for 4! It's in their plans and they'll make it once they have found a good producer with a good budget so they can create a really kickass game!

it's RTS + RPG combined into a piece of jewelry! you have a hero that leads the troops, everybody gets experience, the troops just 20 levels, the hero... depends on your patience; there are 13 attitudes available, each race has its own style, weaknesses, advantages, you can do quests, there are hundreds of items (and a few special ones) and a storyline that creates a really nice atmosphere for any player, you can build a hero depending on your style... need i say more?
i was talking about the A.I. and how you can manage your troops. examples of attitudes: defensive, aggresive, rampant, magic defender, magic attacker, cowardly etc
i pretty much keep all units on magic defender; if they have some magic, let them use it! it's a pity that you don't like elves... why don't you anyway?
puny elves, bah ;o already have enough favorite races. But my new hero is of elven kind, and he may become the ultimate caster... at a grossly high level that is, but with gross amounts of potential.
i don't like heroes based too much on magic, they're easy to kill in the beginning. i mean, they can apply some armor and heal themselves but still... they suck at melee and there's nothing much to protect them at the beginning
body guards ;o yeah i protect them alot but this guy will have enough summoning magic to cast Portal Home. He'll have mastery of 5-6 spheres of magic ^^ the versatility alone is epic.
warlords is one of the best among the best, its incredibly detailed and deep, it fears no rival (specially considering that the warlords franchise is not new).

I'm good with Dark Elves and Undead. The undead are great as long as your mines are full of workers. The Dark Elves are awsome if you get sorcerers with all the upgrades or assasins with all the upgrades.
neah, all you need is 2 attacks: 1st one in the beginning, with nothing more than basic minotaurs with upgrades from iron works. if the enemy survives, then you use minotaurs again plus some shamans (5 are enough) and that's it. oh, almost forgot... almost use the hero!!
i deliberately attacked a bunch of assassins with my hero. one of them did the trick and took around 700 HP, or more, i don't really remember, and the hero didn't die
although i love the D. elves, the assasins dont do anything for me. i mean like 90 hp is all they have (i think) and they can only get up like a 12% chance for instant kill. if you want an assasin, build an assassin hero and make him ssrathi or barbarian to get the run skill. one catapult pretty much wipes out your assassins and they arent too fast either
the best assassin is a dark elf warrior. you can make him strong enough till level 30, when he gets the assassination skill. this way he can both kill troops and destroy buildings; he will die hard too. also, the knight assassin is a strong and nasty hero as an enemy
true. but the thing is the dark elf warrior will become a killing machine. since the level of the enemy unit will be subtracted out of the percentage of an assassinate, the hero should be able to kill a regular unit without assassination and should survive the first blows of an enemy hero until you take him out. the points put in strength, constitution and regeneration until the hero reaches level 30 should do the trick
What about Fey Assassin? He'd get invisability. I was thinking D. elf/Monk, for assassinate and swiftness for attack speed. The latest update said something about 'death blows', is that assassinate? cuz i've had a hero that survived assassinate before. I think it means 'assassinate' attacks only do 2x dmg VS undeads, constructs, and elementals.
i prefer dark elf warrior. he can survive those blows until he finally performs the assassinate. i don't know about the death blows, and i don't know the difference between the hero performing assassination and the assassins that the dark elves have. i wish i could make my minotaur fight my dark elf to see what's the deal with the assassination heh heh
I think one of the warriors i made was Weaponmaster focused, over 60% crit rate, single crit would probably kill an assassin. with vorpal blade he could mow down troops, or use iceblade VS big guys to slow them.
my minotaur has like 50% critical hit (if he's equipped with the Sword of Sir Aranok) and he does some 240 damage but i know once he got killed by a knight assassin... i also tried a hero knight assassin, they get pretty strong, it's hard to take them down before they kill you. i know it was assassinate because the game made that sound
he's level 162; i didn't put that many points into str... like 60 or so... i put intel and str in equal proportion, dex 10 points behind them and charisma is low, under 10... but i have like 70 points into mighty blow and i have nice items
intelligence is good for spells. Armageddon rulz after level 4. and i have played all of those 162 levels, did not do any tricks nor did i play on maps with loads of units
oh so your not a warrior? or just a warrior with alot of pyromancy? sounds like a bad mix ;o. and you kind of have a habit of stating the obvious x.x. I'm suspicious of any high level fighter ;o i saw a lvl 1000+ daemon warrior, who's only done 43 battles >_> hope a daemonslayer finds him. Cant imagine how strong lvl 162 necro would be, could probably summon a dozen lvl 8 doom knights at a time, a dozen times ;o
ok, ok... it's a minotaur warrior level 167 right now. i have invested 60 points into intelligence and 40 points into pyromancy to get armageddon level 4 and i have played with him around 600 battles. the hero was created like 4 years ago. why is it a bad combination? armageddon level 4 destroys most of the units and the towers and i have 240 crushing damage to get down every single hero, building, dragon or titan. as for the daemon warrior, that must've been an exploit or a cheat.
oh and do u actually use the minotaurs? im starting to like them, but im trying ALL the races (except elves, ew no.) next i'll try orcs. For me, any level pyro or warrior is vulnerable to Shadows ;o you get slowed, your in trouble ;o, been working on an anti-mob warrior though.
yes, i do use minotaurs and this is the third hero i have created to get the right combination. i also have a couple more heroes which are below 100 but they are pretty good. i love playing with elves, as long as the hero is a warrior (or something pretty strong). all you need to do is defend your base with the hero, the end of the battle is yours anyway. other races i like are undead, barbarians and ssrathi.
im starting to really like Orcs. Hate all elves ;o, ssrathi and barbarians are good too, im amazed barbarians get mp regen and elves do not... You know what a necromancer can do to minotaurs, right? xD
elves, unlike orcs, are really strong towards the end of the game. you just need someone to defend them towards the beginning and then it's pretty much decided. dark elves can regen their mana and they have some amazing sorcerors. high elves and wood elves can stay on that map forever because the ancient wisps generate crystal and you have the trade skill. i've played against necromancers before, i used to have a necromancer hero... never noticed anything special... what happens?
Strip Flesh happens, Minotaur are a race extremely susceptible to it, since their almost entirely infantry, your shamans and mino kings alike are all stripped, only basilisk are safe, and theirs almost no resisting from a high level necro ;o. I like orcs late game, i played a long game last night with prince/warlords, and there was dark elf and wood elf. Goblin shamans are amazing ^^ late game orcs or all numbers, worked quite well. Orcs also weak to necro :(
GET A GROP OF 10 white mages, 11 red mages, and 11 black mages and set them all to MAGIC ATTACKER and you will have an unstoppable group of units. Thats the only thing i aim for when i play with empire. Knights, just play smart and once you get a level 4 base, u got it going for you, Dont forget to upgrade EVERYTHING you can because knights with lvl 5 base and ALL UPGRADES are the shit and should NOT lose to anything, even titans.(If you do, u might want to pick another race...)
i'll go for knight warriors, They get really really unbelievabally strong in the middle of the campaign. I just started perfecting High Elven Ice Mages and found out that that is an AWESOME high elf hero, due to the fact you can get Garb of Thyatis which helps out A BUNCH, add boots of the tundra and an elven life ring and thats a pretty bad ass hero. And the undead necromancers which are, well, the best of the heros no doubt. Minotaurs are my favirote though, because they can eat sheep to heal.
i cant remember how i beat it, just play smart, plus my hero was a level 35 Knight warrior, so he pretty much kicked ass on any level with the hits and damage as good as a titan.
Eles cost Metal and Stone, which does not coincide with the empire's main need, Gold My view on the Knights... To me knites are a strong overall race. They are very physical, which makes them good vs dark and high elves and other spell casters. Their pop will fill up very fast, and usually when i play i willspread in my perimeter some sword shrines, so i have a ready army of swords at the death of my original during defence. dont forget that the knites have the god annoying archon too.
knights are bad when it comes to air pawnage! They have weak archers (squires ONLY and dancing swords to get all those flying monsters/dragons....not good at all)and their buildings take too much place!!
Don't train sprites or pixies unless you're a Fey player cause those units are badass if you make them all the upgrades from the Fey including Lore (best upgrade from the game and most useful)!!
fey are horrible without lore. you have to be a good survival player if you want to use fey, because you need to use that skill in order to kill anything. in my opinion fey is inbalanced in troops, even with lore. because i can just upgrade my units and lore is useless...well not useless just less strong.
he he i played a lot with Fey just for training! Being the weakest makes you have to push yourself nonstop! And after you learn their strongs and weaks they are pretty good to use! i ussualy use them to get myself free high level units (thanks to lore and neutral temples)!!
Its not so simple. Troops in your command radius recieve your charisma bonus, and it also increases resistances to psychological/magic effects. The best part about charisma is it makes everything cheaper.
Dex is king for many classes. Some dex is always useful for faster conversion times and movement speed. Int can also be good for the exp bonus to troops, even if its just a couple levels. Any other advice ? like 'dont add str on a caster' ?
Its easy actually just keep resetting the cmapaign i got all the way to 94 =) and im still lvling but i dont have a life so dont mind me, :p no seriously i do have a life i do it like half an hour a day and i was 94 in like 2months -- minotaur warroir btw =)
minotaur, is the best race, I love them, also barbaric nations, like orcs or barbarian, troops are very good and very cheap for both, you can fill up your display playing the orcs, in a few minutes with troops
YOU LIKE BARBARIANS? i mean theyre ok. they dont have any huge advantages, except theyre cheap, have good-ish air troops, and...tht's all. Barbarians lack a spellcasting troop, which is ridiculous. Orcs are good, they have really good siege weapons as well as good missile units and resistance to missile units etc etc.
shrati are shit man, no offense....they don't even have catapults, and their priest have only the range good, but they have no bonus, plus they are vurnerable at ice...
Empire is my favorite O_O. Yeah you need a lot of gold IF YOU USE CAVALRY. and you can discount the calvary so its really cheap with an upgrade. and anyway lets say i kill all your troops and im attacking your base. You haven no troops left to fight and you cant make one in time. if you have have discounted mercanaries you can make them to hold off the invaders till you have time to make stronger troops. Dude stupid animals? ELEPHANTS ARE LIKE THE FREAKING CHEAPEST TROOP IN THE GAME
Elephants are the cheapest ultimate troops in the game because they are pretty weak! The only thing i like at empire is the fact you can buy ather races units and their Titan (good for long range enemy building sniping)!!

u all dont know how freaking strong the the dark dwarvs (dont know how to spell it) really are.
u can upgrade them extremly far. Even the Titan(=grond) can get about 175 damage, 850 hp!!

minotaurs are best to 2.......but it takes time to get full str.
get minotaur hero....build base(to full)
build general or 2...few shamans......many axe throwers......and you got it....maybe you can add some basilisks!

plaugelords are ownage in a box(hydras swamp dragons bone catapults, and spores can be ownage with upgrades, eyes of flame, plus cheap units)

yes, i do use minotaurs and this is the third hero i have created to get the right combination. i also have a couple more heroes which are below 100 but they are pretty good. i love playing with elves, as long as the hero is a warrior (or something pretty strong). all you need to do is defend your base with the hero, the end of the battle is yours anyway. other races i like are undead, barbarians and ssrathi.

im starting to really like Orcs. Hate all elves ;o, ssrathi and barbarians are good too, im amazed barbarians get mp regen and elves do not... You know what a necromancer can do to minotaurs, right? xD

elves, unlike orcs, are really strong towards the end of the game. you just need someone to defend them towards the beginning and then it's pretty much decided. dark elves can regen their mana and they have some amazing sorcerors. high elves and wood elves can stay on that map forever because the ancient wisps generate crystal and you have the trade skill. i've played against necromancers before, i used to have a necromancer hero... never noticed anything special... what happens?

Strip Flesh happens, Minotaur are a race extremely susceptible to it, since their almost entirely infantry, your shamans and mino kings alike are all stripped, only basilisk are safe, and theirs almost no resisting from a high level necro ;o. I like orcs late game, i played a long game last night with prince/warlords, and there was dark elf and wood elf. Goblin shamans are amazing ^^ late game orcs or all numbers, worked quite well. Orcs also weak to necro :(

GET A GROP OF 10 white mages, 11 red mages, and 11 black mages and set them all to MAGIC ATTACKER and you will have an unstoppable group of units. Thats the only thing i aim for when i play with empire. Knights, just play smart and once you get a level 4 base, u got it going for you, Dont forget to upgrade EVERYTHING you can because knights with lvl 5 base and ALL UPGRADES are the shit and should NOT lose to anything, even titans.(If you do, u might want to pick another race...)

i'll go for knight warriors, They get really really unbelievabally strong in the middle of the campaign. I just started perfecting High Elven Ice Mages and found out that that is an AWESOME high elf hero, due to the fact you can get Garb of Thyatis which helps out A BUNCH, add boots of the tundra and an elven life ring and thats a pretty bad ass hero. And the undead necromancers which are, well, the best of the heros no doubt. Minotaurs are my favirote though, because they can eat sheep to heal.

i cant remember how i beat it, just play smart, plus my hero was a level 35 Knight warrior, so he pretty much kicked ass on any level with the hits and damage as good as a titan.

Eles cost Metal and Stone, which does not coincide with the empire's main need, Gold My view on the Knights... To me knites are a strong overall race. They are very physical, which makes them good vs dark and high elves and other spell casters. Their pop will fill up very fast, and usually when i play i willspread in my perimeter some sword shrines, so i have a ready army of swords at the death of my original during defence. dont forget that the knites have the god annoying archon too.

knights are bad when it comes to air pawnage! They have weak archers (squires ONLY and dancing swords to get all those flying monsters/dragons....not good at all)and their buildings take too much place!!

Don't train sprites or pixies unless you're a Fey player cause those units are badass if you make them all the upgrades from the Fey including Lore (best upgrade from the game and most useful)!!

fey are horrible without lore. you have to be a good survival player if you want to use fey, because you need to use that skill in order to kill anything. in my opinion fey is inbalanced in troops, even with lore. because i can just upgrade my units and lore is useless...well not useless just less strong.

he he i played a lot with Fey just for training! Being the weakest makes you have to push yourself nonstop! And after you learn their strongs and weaks they are pretty good to use! i ussualy use them to get myself free high level units (thanks to lore and neutral temples)!!

I don't like that the conversion isn't based on charisma. They should have put evasion on speed seperating it from combat which is the hit rate

If you have much of charisma then your army attack faster and better, all is cheaper and you have bigger radius and army limit.

Its not so simple. Troops in your command radius recieve your charisma bonus, and it also increases resistances to psychological/magic effects. The best part about charisma is it makes everything cheaper.

Dex is king for many classes. Some dex is always useful for faster conversion times and movement speed. Int can also be good for the exp bonus to troops, even if its just a couple levels. Any other advice ? like 'dont add str on a caster' ?

Its easy actually just keep resetting the cmapaign i got all the way to 94 =) and im still lvling but i dont have a life so dont mind me, :p no seriously i do have a life i do it like half an hour a day and i was 94 in like 2months -- minotaur warroir btw =)

minotaur, is the best race, I love them, also barbaric nations, like orcs or barbarian, troops are very good and very cheap for both, you can fill up your display playing the orcs, in a few minutes with troops

YOU LIKE BARBARIANS? i mean theyre ok. they dont have any huge advantages, except theyre cheap, have good-ish air troops, and...tht's all. Barbarians lack a spellcasting troop, which is ridiculous. Orcs are good, they have really good siege weapons as well as good missile units and resistance to missile units etc etc.

Empire is my favorite O_O. Yeah you need a lot of gold IF YOU USE CAVALRY. and you can discount the calvary so its really cheap with an upgrade. and anyway lets say i kill all your troops and im attacking your base. You haven no troops left to fight and you cant make one in time. if you have have discounted mercanaries you can make them to hold off the invaders till you have time to make stronger troops. Dude stupid animals? ELEPHANTS ARE LIKE THE FREAKING CHEAPEST TROOP IN THE GAME

Elephants are the cheapest ultimate troops in the game because they are pretty weak! The only thing i like at empire is the fact you can buy ather races units and their Titan (good for long range enemy building sniping)!!

i have 37 lvl undead lichelord and now i hit 50 something and + 50 dmg vs elves and humans(barbarians,empire,knights,dark elves,wood elves,high elves):P i dont have very high lvl but i pwn3d all:P (I think u know its joke:D)...

The best combination for anyone planning on hitting level 300+ is Dark Elf Merchant.
You get the Racial ability to be an Assassin (1 hit kills) and the ability to be a merchant (purchase everything for 1 of the required resources).
Overpowered? Very much. =D
