  • Anyone else notice his guitar changed colors?!

  • I can't help but to get choked up a bit hearing this..

  • robert cray rules! :)

  • if you don't dig it you got a hole in your soul........and you don't eat chicken on Sundays!!

  • Thanks for the inspirational words at the end....

  • outstanding, I like ManlnDarkAlley's comment : )

  • 10 PEOPLE NOT HAVE FEELING...

  • FEEL THE MUSIC!!

  • Dam that is a great song by a great artest. Thanks.

  • Seriously some good soul smoothing music.

  • who are these 10 people voted "DISLIKE IT"? I'm gonna fight them!!!

  • @bekartmoralny I am standing with you on that!!!

  • So much feeling, indescribable.....

  • Amazing song and performance. Such an inspiration. The end message is just wrong. Who are you to tell people they cannot succeed in music (or anything else). Anyone with passion and determination can do what they dream of doing. And this mostly means putting in more work and exercise than any school. That's how you become "really good".

  • Everyone's to bothered about Robert changing his guitar watch the bassist when Robert walks on!

  • mainstream? uhh, yes- hendrix, but not cray. hey, its all good though. great video, great sound.

  • @BurgerGrabber No passion for it?

    Please. Don't be a hater.

What I said, back then, as you see it's been some years.. Is that you ought to get a backup plan. Do not bet it all on one hand.

But sure. Yes. I admit that I am mediocre. But that didn't stop 900 people from paying to listen to me yesterday.

  • @creativemees prolly different day of the festival

  • why has he the whole song a sunburst guitar and on 6:07 a blue guitar??? He changed it in 1 sec? Lol

  • wow, its comments like that, that leave kids wondering what to do when they get out of high school. Artists of all sorts are their own worst critics, if you tell them they cant succeed then they'll probably believe you, and become something like a bartender or bus driver, not saying that those are bad jobs, but it would just be better if being a musician was looked upon like someone being a lawyer or a doctor, or an engineer, just remember that u have to be really good to succeed at anything.

  • I dont know you, but are you trying to be funny with the comment at the end??

  • The Heart of a Soul Singer, and the Technique of a Bluesman - what an AWESOME combination (as our American cousins would say) !!!

  • Young Bob is,for me,and a million others the premier R&B guitarist,and his voice is just...sublime.

  • destruction, great!!!

  • How awesome that the guitar to the left of him, visisble only at certai nparts (an image) has the SRV initials on it!

  • Magic...

  • Great performance, and great song!!! Real good..

  • @Karius7 I second that. Great advise at the end.

  • @GGTopGuitarist que groso cry muy buen sonido y..... negro tenia que ser

  • great song

  • Awesome magic trick. His guitar changed colour when he said "Thank you very much."

  • This guy is pretty good among eric clapton, bb king, and the others in the crossroads guitar festival. My dad and I got to see him live and he was GOOOD!

also the same guy who is playing the piano with robert cray he was there too.

ps to the people who don't like this music just keep it to yourself because we don't want to hear it. Ok

  • when i see that 8 people didn't like this vid makes me wonder if they fell on their heads a lot or something traumatic. this is transcendental...

  • In all of its simplicity... just absolutely amazing. enough said.

  • 8 people listen to lady gaga...

  • he's brilliant! I tried to get tickets to see him live, but the tickets all sold out with in 1 hour|!

  • Quite frankly, what's not to like. A wonderful guitarist and singer =))

  • from one`s heart

  • I think no one needs the suggestions of some stranger about giving up on your dreams. The fact that you did it doesn't mean anyone should, asshole.

  • thats a pretty discouraging note at the end. this person knows nothing about music really. Talent is only one of the many traits a musician is supposed to have retard.

  • I love this guy...

  • 6:06 The quickest guitar change over ever made.

  • @Philzwhodrumz Hahahahahah when i saw the dvd the first time i was like "What a good video edition!!!"

  • Comment removed

  • @Karius7 A person can be whoever he wants and it doesn't matter if he wants to be a scientist or a musician or both

aslong as he really wants it, you don't have to stay in school aslong as you don't want to learn, cause if you don't want to learn you won't learn anything.

  • GREATNESS!!!!

  • GREAT FKN ROCKN SONG!

  • if you have can't feel this song ... you have no soul... I suspect!

  • so deep !

  • My favorite part is @ 6:08 when his tobacco sunburst strat turns in to a blue one!

  • @alchemist1111 That made me laugh so hard, you just made my day!

  • hes so big he makes that strat look like a toy

  • 5:03 is when shit goes down

  • Every hair on my body stood up on that first note!

  • Wow, divine, deeper than deep!...moved!

  • this is more than pure good music...its much much more

  • what a deceiving message at the end

  • what a chord!!!!!!

  • such great performance.. that's a pro

  • Robert Cray is a beast.

  • Robert Cray is amazing.

But the comment at the end of this vid needs to go. First off, you DON'T have to be really good to make it in music. Why do you think people like Britney Spears have a music career?

Seriously? Focus on school? So basically what you're telling people is that they should set themselves up to fail by not believing in themselves. That's the kind of mentality that causes people to end up miserable because they chose a path that wasn't in their heart. Shame on you.

  • Oooooweee this music will make the top of your head blow off!!

  • This was his best line up (imho)...that drummer...always amazing...I sure hope he got the credit he deserved...what a stunning performance by all...too cool is right....I believe I read that they had done over 1000 gigs together. I've been lucky enough to have seen Robert many times going back to the early 80s ( but not for some years now)...he never disappoints..not once...full on 100% passion every song...thanks for posting ..pure pleasure..Yowzer!

  • no me cabe en la cabeza que haya 8 malditos que no les guste esto !!!

  • Qué buen video, música genial!!! gracias por compartirlo!!!!!

    Such a good video!!!great music...thanks for share...

  • Ooops that was a quick guitar change at the end. But then again it´s one of the coolest guitarist in the world right... Keep him on stage and dont let Vai up...

  • Im thankful for people who are keeping great music alive and well..

  • The amount of views in this video is depressing especially considering how AMAZING the performance is.

  • Around 3:30 chills swirled through my body and I felt as if my night had taken a turn for the worst. Robert Cray is an epic force

  • @ducksalotful agree with you 100%. He is a force.

  • I think the part between 0:00 and 6:42 is best!

  • 5:49 orange guitar transforms from orange to blue O.O

  • @bangelbooze who cares? The music is amazing. That is what counts!!

  • @bangelbooze actually it is all about dvd editing. Think about it.

  • @bangelbooze robert cray is just that magical.

  • This is one of the best versions of him playing this song, especially the solo. Robert Cray is the new Ray Charles

  • Comment removed

  • at the all song the guitar is fire color, but at the end the guitar is blue... jajaja

  • fuckin.insane.gotta.love.it

  • great..!

  • Comment removed

  • Only the select few can reach down deep within themselves, and pour pure emotion and energy as Robert does in this song, specifically from 2:04 to 3:00

This is no ordinary man ~

  • @MrTgilbert66 Gorgeous comment.

  • @porcelaincougar TY :)

  • @MrTgilbert66

    Yah your right

Too bad that only a bunch of shirtless hillbillies showed up.

Also I simply love that drummer.

He used yarn mallets instead of drumsticks

  • @jizzinmypantz10

Let's hope those shirtless hillbillies had some taste in good music, or at least gained some before they left the show!... after all, they were there ~ hah...

:-) Yes, that drummer is excellent... right alongside Cray's whole crew.

Great musicianship all the way around.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrTgilbert66 - Yeah from 4:55 on, too

  • Definitely a musical genius and one of my favorites!

  • this is my new favourite song. robert cray is a musical genius!

  • i have his gutar pick

  • few can feel this pain

  • really good, yes if your gonna last, but more thay anything else lucky

  • ive seen him live in fort smith, AR. He did this for his encore....orgasim

  • @MrJthawkin wish he'd come to Australia

  • 8 people don t know music.

  • @wantrice Does it mean something unpleasant or is it only hard to pronounce?

  • Amazing. His coming to my town in 2 month. Cant wait. But his name is a nightmare for Asians.

  • Get rid of that fucking message at the end!!

  • so what. It is a dvd about a festival. He didn't switch guitar during the song. Have you watched the whole dvd? Regardless, it has opened the door for me to realise how great Robert Cray is. I love his music.

  • so what. It is a dvd about a festival. He didn't switch guitar during the song. Have you watched the whole dvd?

  • my musical taste has evolved over the years, but the blues is the foundation of my love for music and the guitar. performances like this one will always be remembered as the catalyst to my obsession over music.

  • super super

  • that last comment was pointless

  • i just have to say.. that was kinda a dbag comment at the end of the vid, always follow your dreams and pour your heart and soul into music like robert cray displayed in this song. when you put all your emotion and soul into music this is the result.

  • The coolest second is at 2:58 ! This chord with the thumb! It´s the little things that part the average from the genius!

  • @goeri2 Sorry...its 2:56/2:57

  • anyone know were I could look to learn this song?

  • Lord have mercy....Robert Cray is very underrated in the blues world. The extremely freeform style is not easy to re create period, just like Buddy. To everyone who says females dont get blues. Have you ever compared the "great" male blues players to the number of female? I cant even really think of any?

  • yeah .. it s about people doing what they like .. people should go to school .. IF THEY WANT TO ... there is nothing in this world that sez' : school is the way to go ...

i tell you 1 thing and i'm not from the u.s. ... school is good if you want to have something for sure in the modern society .. but when surviving beats the things you like .. you are one communist little shit(if you get my drift) .. in real life .. you must combine school with what you like and thinking for yourself !!!

  • His guitar changes colors at the end???????

  • Goddamn...

  • this is clearly one of the most amazing performances i have ever seen !

  • by far my favorite version of this song. that is a true testimonial to music. to be able to play a song live and be better than the recorded track, it's a beautiful thing.

  • moro mou .. .time makes two..se skeftomai

  • My heart is in my throat. Robert Cray is the master of all things.

  • I love him......

  • OMFG, that dude makes me cry!

Damn, Robert Cray is a god!

  • During the filming of Animal House, Bob was playing at Good Times in Eugene, Oregon when John Belushi spotted him and got him a cameo as the bass player at the infamous, "You mind if we dance wich yo dates" club as part of Otis Day and the Knights. Bob used to play in Eugene all the time when I was a kid and to this day I have never seen him perform live. Some day!

  • One of my favorite people that I've seen play live.

  • 6:04 Ninja guitar change.

    Robert Cray is a beast

  • Like Cray, I too first wanted to be an architect. I instead went to school for music....all these years later I'm a global business manager wishing I would have been better at music...or an architect....either way, I love to listen to Cray!

  • This man doesn't get enough credit.I would love to see him in concert. He is simply amazing.

  • musical genuis

  • Fuck,I wish I lived in the USA.

I live in the Uk,and believe me,it's shite.

I see the Cray band regular enough when they tour here, but your venues are the best.

From a wannabe Ami...all the best to you guys...x

  • Free inexhaustible energy is real! But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,Find this technology at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!

  • It is a great video and Robert Cray is a great artist... but I have always wondered what exactly he is saying during each of his solos. I have seen people get into it and screw thier face up into funny contortions and such.. but never saw anyone talk through the solo LOL.

  • @Rheems1 BB King will do it it to... I think they are just singing the notes as they play them

  • He makes his guitars look like ukuleles. =)

  • hahahaa, he probably did more than one song, used a different guitar, and they edited the second song out and used his goodbye for the end hahaha

  • wtf his guitar change of color at the end :s

  • how has this amazing performance only got 248,623 views. shame!!!

  • @martinv140690

At least 50 of those are me... :p

  • @martinv140690 it is now over 275,000 and counting...

  • This is absolutely fantastic, he can really bring magic from his soul, through his Guitar and voice, into every one of us. I also like how the Strat changes from three tone sunburst to blue in the blink of an eye! (6:06)

  • geniooooo.....

  • I saw him perform this live a few weeks ago. He saved it for the last song in the encore, It was awesome!!

  • @adsevero1 Just saw him tonight 10/09/10. He saved this one for his final encore as well. Great show.

  • By the way. Thanks for the note at the end of the video. It's a great point and even really good musicians don't make it. You need to know someone and just circumstance. Sometimes it just takes being in the right place at the right time. And, we can't all be in the right place at the right time.

  • I discovered this guy about a week ago and I gotta say that mr Cray is one of the greatest blues-performers I´ve heard.

  • 6 days. Seeing him at River Rock. Up close and personal. Seats are front row. Gonna be a great show!

  • just the beginning to this ......WOW!! robert cray is unbelievable. i'm a clapton fan myself, but this guy is AMAZING.............!!!!!

  • @chelpa2 I'm a clapton fan too, i seen Robert open for Eric as well, and what a show that was!! Eric is a a fan and they're also friends I don't think you need to pick a favorite, lets just choose to love them all.

  • this is one of my favorite blues artists, have his vinyl record and a few cds. good stuff if you're into this type of music. love the solo on this song short yet sweet

  • Amazing !! Sinply Genius

  • one of the all time great songs in my opinion, maybe only so because of how he plays it. So soulful, you know its from the heart.

  • That little note at the end is sooooo true :(

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuau

  • Amazing!!

  • cant help but to listen over and over. Robert Cray moves with his guitar magic!

  • Comment removed

  • goosebumps!!!

  • Sublime...!!

  • so beautifull.

btw anyone noticed the guitar change on 6:05 and 6:08??

  • I focused on school and now Ive wasted my life! Seriously take the risk and become the music!

  • sublime,excellence

  • Robert Cray wasnt the biggest stunner of crossroads. i must give that award to the pop loving yet blues devoted jonny Mayer. His solo was instense at crossroads

  • did anyone else notice that at the end of the song his guitar changed from a wood finish to blue

  • @ish96885 It is somthing in the paint on it. Kinda like pearl flake on a car. I saw his signature strat at gutar center a while back. It was nice has a great sound, no tremello and some awsome sustain. Bad side is the price tag. Not cheap. It looks like it changes color in different light.

  • This whole Crossroads concert is amazing. But Robert Cray's performance is the one that sticks out the most for me. I remember watching this at a buddy's when he got the DVD. He goes, "are you tearing up?".... I said no, it's just my allergies. LOL

  • Sometimes it's like Robert Cray wish he had more technique than he does.

  • @g0ttsche Yah, I wish I had 1/16th of Robert's technique. Post a video of your guitar skills and let's see.

  • COOL VIDEO,BUT DONT LIKE THE COMMENT AT THE END TELLING KIDS TO STAY IN SCHOOL,AND THAT MOST MUSICIANS DONT MAKE IT.

I MEAN OK,CONCENTRATE ON STUDYS BUT DONT LET THAT LAST COMMENT DISCOURAGE YOU FROM HAVING A GO KIDS.ANYBODY CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING IF THEY PUT THEY'RE MINDS TO IT,AND MUSIC IS WONDERFULL,SO GET YOUR SELF A GUITAR,LEARN A FEW CHORDS,GET A PLACE TO JAM WITH SOME FRIENDS AND STAR MAKING SOME NOISE,ITS GREAT FUN AND WILL QUADRUPLE YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING A GIRLFRIEND STRAIGHT AWAY ROCK!

  • @beadyeyes12 why do you yell?

  • @beadyeyes12

This comment is even worse than the last scene of "The Sure Thing"...."she was not my type"...hahahah

  • @beadyeyes12 unrealistic...really, It would be nice if we could all make it...but it isn't going to happen ... an example would be if your a shortstop in baseball...your chance to make it to being the top 50 in this field in the world is incredibly difficult. You see we all cannot be stars...only a limited amout of room on the stage. I've known so many musicians who tried and now are broke with multiple divorces and kid who hate them for not being there for them. Life is all about choices!!!

  • A very talented blues guitarist said this was indeed his favorite. It made me happy!!

  • OOOOH!!!!ENOUGH TO MAKE A GROWN MAN CRY!LOL.I LOVE IT!

  • Happy Birthday!!! Robert Cray

  • Genius.

  • I saw Robert play at Pistoia two days ago. My mind is still blown. This song is so powerful live, one's heart can't help but beat in time with the band...
