@wolverine1865 He's not going to think it's a bad idea. To use your example of your 'betta' surrounded by flowers, tell the artist what is your motivation in getting your 'betta' permanently tattooed on your body, and he might help you to plan out what sort of flora to surround it with since there is so much meaning and symbolism in flowers and leaves (roses, clovers, fleur de lis, hyacinth, hydrangea, foxglove, oak leaves, ivy, heather, etc.). You'll end up with a far better piece of art!
hi.why is it when i tattoo lining, after 2 or3 weeks some lines are nice and thin and some are thick..am i using the machine at the wrong angle perhaps...anyone?
being consistent is the main thing. speed, depth and one line at a time all matter. if you cant finish a line because its big, come from the other end to avoid leaving a dot picking up from were you left off.
Also, just because you think a tattoo of some art from your favorite painter will look good on skin, for many reasons, it may not. I'm sure the design can be done, however the tattoo artist will be able to give you concepts and ideas that can make it work much better. Skin is not the same as canvas but hey...what do I know right?
And by the way, this is Brandon Bond ... He's one of the few guys, as i mentioned in my post below, that i would let work on me. As far as color work goes, i'd say he's the worlds best. So this guy and Paul Booth .... I'd sit down in a chair for wither of them and tell them to just go for it. Here's an idea ... Do your thing. And with either of these guys, you'd come out with a top-notch piece.
He isn't saying that you just sit down and let the artist do whatever they want. He's saying that you give the artist an idea, and let them run with it. Not run with ink, but run with ideas. Listen to what he's saying guys ... there are very few artists out there that i would trust to work on me without a stencil, and i myself rarely work without a stencil (yes, i'm a tattoo artist) But when it's someone who really knows their stuff, sometimes it's worth it to let them have some artistic freedom
Im 14 years old and am getting my first tattoo today....it is in my 4 person family "tradition"....my dad recently retired from being a police officer and he already had about 20 tattoos but could not get any on his arms or neck or anything that would show on the job..now that he has retired he has gone crazy mad and is tatted from head to toe....my bro who is now 17 got his when he was 13..and my mom has a decent amount also.so wish me luck guys..kinda scared but oh well.
@Maxakiller I hope it isn't a legit artist thats tatting you ... Cause there is nowhere in the United States where it's legal to tat a 14 year old. Some places it's 16 with parental consent, but never 14. And if it's not a legit artist, good luck on not getting Hepatitis. Hope you know enough to check the cleanliness first.
As an Artist, When someone asks you to draw them something. You ask them what would you like, And their goal is to tell you some of the things they would like to see in the drawing/tattoo. So your goal is to incorperate their ideas and mix it in with your. So that way there is a bond btwn Artist and cilent. I have been drawing for 7 years, And plan on taking my art into tattooing. I would prefer someone who told me what they wanted and then i took it and made it what they wanted x 10. Thats all.
Personally, I wouldn't want to give the tattoo artist "freedom" to do whatever he wants because it's YOUR tattoo and only YOU know what you want.
Right now, I want a tattoo by my favorite painter and if I went in there telling them what I wanted and they added some random bullshit to it, I'd be pissed as fuck.
@omgaw I used to feel the same way. I totally understand what you mean, but when I got my first tattoo I showed the artist what I wanted, and he put his own spin on it not only before when he re-drew the piece but also while he was doing my tattoo. At first I was thinking "what the fuck is he doing? That's not what I wanted" In hind sight though I'm glad he did because I'm impressed with the turn out of it.
@omgaw true but i don't mind if a artist add's a bit of there style like how they use there coulours how they shade thing's. Like if ask for a tattooo from la ink, london ink, or miami ink, or some orther tattoist i'd go for la or miami or london becuase i like there style
i think you missed what he was saying to copy is on thing if it is tattooable (that's what you want) but to walk into a shop have a consult and you holding a tattoo pic from the internet or some other reference all he is saying is to get the best work out of the artist just let them do their thing with guidlines you offer key points and we do the rest much better tattoo out come that way more flow better fit for your body also.
i think you missed what he was saying to copy is on thing if it is tattooable (that's what you want) but to walk into a shop have a consult and you holding a tattoo pic from the internet or some other reference all he is saying is to get the best work out of the artist just let them do their thing with guidlines you offer key points and we do the rest much better tattoo out come that way more flow better fit for your body also.
@omgaw thats why you tell them guidelines they sketch it out for you and you decide whether its better than what you thought or not. 9/10 times people always choose the artist take on your guidelines.
@omgaw What amazes me is that not only do people actually come up with comments like this but 32 people actually give it a thumbs up? You should seriously listen to his advice instead of being a know-it-all. You might find that allowing an artist to elaborate on your concept can be very rewarding and will not leave you "pissed as fuck". Unless you are a tattoo artist yourself, you do NOT know how a good tattoo should be designed.
@omgaw Thats true to an extent. However, approaching Pablo Picaso and telling him you wanted realism would defeat the entire purpose of going to that particular artist in the first place. Yes, as a tattoo artist, I alter desigs that people have in mind. But never for the sake of making it easier, or to look worse. Our work is our lively-hood. If we suggest changes, it's only to improve the work. And on top of that, you, as the customer, have the right not to like our ideas.
i got my first tattoo when i was 17. yes my mother was with me at the time. The only thing is ive been into the art since a very young age and my family is heavily inked. so i was lucky to grow around this art. Dont let anybody tell you what to do. In the end its YOUR body. art wise listen to the artist
@RnoypiZ i hate tattoo's where it's like on lion or on one spot on the body. i like a tattooo to be part of the body. If i get a tattoo on my leg, it goes round my leg. I think tattoo's are part of are culture because we did it thousands of years ago. Many tribes still paint them self's it is like what humans do!
this guy talks alotof bullshit im a tattoo artist and i find its easier for people to talk to me and get to know me first then to talk and have a real chat while im tattooing them just to put trust into them if anyone has question send me a message

hey guys... i know ur gonna say im a stupid dummy and all but i really want some answers... what do i have to really consider for a first tattoo? age? design? i'm 15, should i wait? -i dont mind mux about the pain- but i really want to know about this stuff
i agree with whateverlove11 but the only thing is im 13 and absolutly PETRIFIED of needles can they put you to sleep before they start it? does it hurt?
Nope they don't put you to sleep. And you want to wait till you're old enough to get one on your own. So Mommy and Daddy don't have to give permission. And some places hurt more than others but it's going hurt. Remember though it's going to be there forever so don't jump into anything before you've thought it through
i'm soo glad i waited until i was older to get my first tattoo, otherwise i'd be stuck with a bunch of tattoos that were awesome to start but turn out to be huuuge regrets later.
get something that you hold near and dear to yourself, which takes a bit of life experience and some brain picking to find, 16 years is hardly enough life experience to get a tattoo that will be there until you're dead! at least wait until you're old enough to do it without "parental consent"
I've heard people say that first know what you want. An image? Something literary? Remember it will be with you forever so make it meaningful. Then wait about a year. If you still like the idea of your tattoo then get it. You might want to wait till you're 18 though. You could still be growing and that might affect the tattoo. Before you do all of that make sure you know how to take care of a healing tattoo as well. And it's alway good to research the artists beforehand.
hey guys i got my first tattoo yesterday a small star on my wrist and today is my second day i wanna know can i put baby lotion on it and what kind of ointment is sting a little bit
