@samvans398 the songs from the movie SKATEBOARD MADNESS that came out in the late 70s. you could probably find it on ebay... thats where i got my copy like 5 years ago... its a fuckin sick movie if you like old school shit. it had stacy peralta in it and they do make references to smoking pot and triping out and skating bowls. its fuckin rad check it out
my dad was best friends with him during their child hood and would skate together at old broken down homes in san jose. its pretty cool that my dad was friends with an amazing person.
@bad91teg Copers are for grinds. You fit them on your trucks. They protect your trucks and the coping. I remember Trackers', Indys' and Gull Wings' copers. I never used them. Be an even bigger idiot and argue with me. Maybe you can sell me a copers to prevent me from any kind of any kind of "disaster." I only need one copers. Lappers are used to protect the kingpin and prevent hang-ups. I never used those either. I didn't even remember what they were called. I had to check.
@jdsrazor66 Nope, Steve is riding his 1st model, you can see it when he ollies the channel and not long after that he bails and the board slides graphics up down the tranny. Lots of people forget how short Steve is, it makes many think he was younger. If ya look you'll see he's wearing Vans and riding Indy's, he got sponsorship by those guys around his 1st model. Beyond that, Ray Rodriguez's model came out in '79.
@eracguy Steve is riding Tracker Sixtracks not Indys in this video. They might even be yellow magnesium Sixtracks but it's hard to tell. You can see the shape of the hangar. Indys' hangars didn't resemble Trackers until '87. You can see the shape of the white copers and the yellow Tracker stickers on them. Indy copers were flat and black not contoured. Steve has two red white and blue Tracker stickers on the front of his helmet. Steve was wearing Vans when he was sponsored by Tracker.
Back then if you wore a helmet at a skatepark you were thought as one of the cool ones, now if you wear a helmet at a skatepark you get harassed and called a pussy.
I would do anything to time-machine back to that time and ride that park with Caballero.
That's what was lame about growing up anywhere but California in the 70s - 80s. No parks. All we had was Thrasher Mag to make us jealous. If anybody had a half pipe in the suburbs it was a water (rain) damaged nightmare and neighbors constantly complaining and calling the cops. You guys have NO idea how lucky you were to live in CA those years.
belive it or not i know his 13 year old daughter named kayla caballero and i have a autograph from him ive seen him in person hes daugher goes to Cambell Middle School CA
WOW~~~ I sadly only made it to Winchester a few times. I remember seeing Steve and thinking that kid (he was 13 or so at the time) is younger than me and 10x better! That pink bowl was so much fun. I remember the thirsty 32 ouncers like it was yesterday!
I think i know these parts from "Skateboard Fever", the first skate-Film I've ever saw when I was a kid (early 80's) ?!. mmh ... whatever, It's genius & Caballero is the MAN!!!.
I'd only just began skating at 14 and he was doing all these airs and handplants.. dear lord

I skated Winchester once. It had that washboard thing, alot-o-little-bowls, and then that keyhole. I was too young and scared to skate that thing.

So much control for a little kid! Of course he grew up with the best skaters and terrain. Cab was built to rip!
