  • Chet's looking down from above with a big satisfied smile and enjoying every minute I'm sure. I'm trying to learn this now and it's no easy feat (for me anyway, especially the on-beat H-O's).

    Great playing!!

  • Excellent playing !!!

  • Really good cover! im learning this at the minute, gotta play mine on an electric though doesnt sound as nice! You remind me a bit of Rolf Harris only much more talented :P

  • Perfect playing! So close to Chet I can hardly tell the difference!

  • @daffydoug Doug... you made my day!

  • @FrostyMorn Actually, you made mine! I've been working on this Chet tune for years. Posted both versions of Chet''s rendition of this on my Chet Channel. I remember decades ago, when I first saw Chet play this on the old Mike Douglas show!

Then when i saw him live in concert in '89 it was the first tune he picked when he walked out on stage. I taped that concert on cassette and still have it to this day. But I love your playing, brother! You're like me. You play Chet, and you play

  • @daffydoug classical and you don't let your playing be put in a box. Just like Chet!

  • your videos are always a treat. your guitar collection is fantastic too. thanks.

  • no one can touch chet atkins version

but you did a very good job:)

  • damn

  • I wanted to leave you this earlier... first... and again... outstanding playing ...[just checking to see if anyone had mentioned that to you before]. Now onto the serious matter. The left index finger nor any ajoined finger is for quietening the blow of the hammer ;o) Best to you and yours... wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

  • Awesome !

    Fred

  • You are very talented. I've just been getting into ukulele playing myself, and I voraciously study as many players as possible. It's a pleasure to watch your videos and the grace with which you move your fingers.

It makes me wonder what kind of a man you are, to be able play such things with such a calm expression, and the smile after you hit the harmonic. Surely you must have experienced a great deal to be able to play like this.

  • That was nice! I'm getting in to Chet Atkins myself. I uploaded one so far. Keep jamming!

  • hey i love your skill

  • man that was good sounds just like chet very good

  • You are a master!

  • very very nicely done a pleasure to listen to. would you consider making an instructional video and show how you play this. i would really appreciate that as there no way i could figure that out by ear

  • Nice playing on this great song. I loved Chet....

  • NICE!

  • Very good!

  • Heard this great fingerstyle-version of this song in AMERICAN MOVIE and just had to find it! Great performance.

  • dude..... perfect! nice job

  • Just checking out other versions after hearing Chet play it, and mate, that was brilliant. Great bit of playing.

  • Very well played (:

  • Pal, that is awesome. Thank you.

  • perfect version of a great great Chet's arrangement!

  • GREAT JOB ON A GOOD TUNE

  • Amazing, love it. Such a nice version this.

  • Hello, FrostyMorn! :9 am wondering where you got this tab ?

  • thats insane pickin. great job in other words! :)

  • hey frosty, im learning this song too! i think you play amazing.. i relly wanted to know what you play when you go to the 8th fret (i think its the 8th)

    thanks in advance, KingDijk

  • Very nice!! You play with a fluidity and perfection that is almost NEVER found on this site! Definitely one of the best acoustic players on YouTube!

  • I don't normally trust men with beards but you sir have changed my mind, excellent guitar, one of the best bojangles covers i have heard.

  • Very nice!

  • Oh my, you are SO good and such a pleasure to listen to!

    :o)

  • you are one of the best pickers on all of youtube.

Personally I think you play this better than Mr. Atkins himself.

  • This guy is amazing but Chet was super amazing :D

  • It's true!

  • favourited just on the merit of your beard alone.

  • This is very nice. Do you happen to have a TAB of the way you play it? I'd love to get it.

  • I do not have tab, since I learn mostly by ear. But I know there are commercial transcriptions available. Try searching Homespun or Guitarvideos.

  • You kinda look like the wonderful German fingerpicker Ulli Boegershausen. You play pretty well too! My hat is off to you, keep it up.

  • Amazing

  • Awesome playing. I'm wondering if it might not be worth muting the bass strings with the palm on that tune. I personally don't use the thumb pick anymore, to get that deeper bass feel, "thump thump."

  • I think Mr Chet would be proud..

  • well done

  • real good job,you "can't" hear that classic sound like some of them dudes, which is a nice change,it sounds real clean ,real american, not spanish or european thats why your on the same with chester a.,ray t.,and tommy e. with the

  • love that tune though it makes me sad... great job!

  • beautiful

  • this is simply beautiful!!!

anyway you could post Jerrys Breakdown by Jerry Reed? if so that would be awesome...

  • would you recommend this guitar? of course taylors are nice, but is it worth the cost?

    im thinking about getting one.

  • Great work! I found this while looking for Chet's version. Glad I did! 5*

  • Very smooth! Your a great player!

  • Very nice. I'm currently trying to find a NS32ce for a bargain. I don't care about "pretty" so long as it is structurally sound. Bob Schneider plays one that is beat to death and it still sounds great. Thanks for posting.

  • you are truely a master!

  • lovely, wonderful clean playing.

  • I've listened to and enjoyed many of your videos! Would you call it Travis picking or Chet Atkins .. or someone else? Do you [or anyone out there] have advice for learning your style of fingerpicking? Many thanks!

  • Thank you for listening. This arrangement is by Chet Atkins and I try my best to emulate his right hand style here. At least in spirit. Travis picking, while also a fingerpicking style, is more driving in it's rhythm - I offer my recording of Farewell My Bluebelle as a comparison. Travis played with only the thumb and first finger of his picking hand. Chet's style requires thumb and two or three fingers and, in general, I would say is more articulate than the Travis style.

  • Beautiful as usual. But you seem to be playing in a bit different voice this time, maybe a bit sadder. I hope everything goes well for you and my best wishes.

    RT

  • Thanks very much, RT. It was rather late at night when I recorded this - perhaps that accounts for the voice! Or maybe I was thinking of the verse about Mr. Bojangles' long lost companion.

  • Amazing! All I can say!

  • Very beautiful!!!

  • Awesome! 5 Star's!

  • BEAUTIFUL!! Great job as usual.

  • Beautifully done!
