i support gay marriage but i dont think its the right thing to make them adopt kids. if the kid is born to one of the 2 in the couple i think its good but if they get together and adopt a child that is not relative to neither one, i think it could have negative aspects on a kid, because a kid needs a mother to teach him certain things that a father cant and vice versa.. @diimees thats not what i am saying.. its more the aspect of growing up.. i dont say a kid cant grow up well with 2 mothers.. But you can see it with the young people from poor neighbourhoods. Most of the kids dont have a father at home (mostly black people, btw im black myself). Later when they grow up they dont have a reference of what a man needs to be, thats why they get violent. I've never actually met anyone who was more violent due to the absence of their father but I do know a few who are violent because their father raised them that way and their mother said nothing.

Sometimes I think that the catholics had the right idea by not allowing the masses to read the bible, too bad some were power hungry and added and said whatever they wanted to get people to do what they wanted, which is still done today by many religious leaders may i add. Anyway my point is that unless you are experienced in reading arameic, are knowledgable about the culture at that time and are knowledgable of the people's true lives you will never know the true intent of the book.
@zztstenglish Nothing offensive I assure you lol um what I mean is that many bible who read the bible take what it says however they want and dont take into consideration factors which affect the meaning such as the time period it was written in or the culture of those who wrote it, differences in translation etc. all these things affect how things are understood. So what I mean is that to more or less read scripture most accurately you need to know about these things aswell.

So, the 'withholding' of it by the clergy had more to do with language barriers. After Vatican 2, this was dropped and translations/mass can be done in foreign languages. It's called the Vernacular.

The reason why Leviticus does not apply is cus that's when God was talking to the Israelites. Most people (including myself) are Gentiles. hence, mosaic law does not apply. So, the 'withholding' of it by the clergy had more to do with language barriers. After Vatican 2, this was dropped and translations/mass can be done in foreign languages. It's called the Vernacular.

@Politicallyactive101 it may not hurt people directly, but it weakens the moral fibre of society as a whole, which in turn weakens moral resolve and destabilizes the family, in the same way no fault divorce did beforehand. Just like it did in the times of Pagan Rome and Sodom and Gommorah which was rampant with homosexuality. I'm not saying homosexuality led to the fall of Pagan Rome, but it definatly contributed to weakening the stability of the community.

You are changing the very definition of "marriage" if they are allowed to be married as if they were husband and wife with the intentions of procreation. Because that is, afterall, what a marriage really is.
If a homosexual couple wants and intends to be together, they should have rights like a married couple. They can even have a ceremony. But it is not a marriage.

@17DaMaria it goes back to the separation of church and state. if the teachings of jesus were established laws in the constitution, then the US would be a christian nation. however, it was the founding fathers who decided what went in the constitution, and long story short, everyone has the right to practice their faiths freely. so, if same sex marriage was recognized at the federal level, that would be constitutionally acceptable because it won't affect people's beliefs, including yours.

Only God knows the word of God and anyone who considers the word of man (albeit may be inspired by God) as a iron clad rule from God is probably considering blasphemy.
