  • So everything is going through the tube amp and then out to the power amp? Can you please explain how this works, I would love to understand this. How do you connect the tube headphone amp this way? This is awesome.I have a budget of $2000.00 and already own a nice pair of Dynaudio Speakers. Can you please recommend something?

  • @yeseverymomentcounts My 'Little Dot MKIII' is both a headphone amp AND line preamp. I only use a CD player as my source, so I don't need a phono preamp. The CD player is connected to the 'Little Dot MKIII' unit (I use it primarily as a preamp), and the output of the preamp is connected to the input of the McIntosh amplifier (all using standard RCA type interconnect cabling). The only drawback to using the 'Little Dot' is that only 1 set of inputs can be connected. I only use a CD player.

  • @yeseverymomentcounts Considering your budget, and the fact that you already own Dynaudio speakers (great speakers!), i'm assuming you need a CD player, integrated amp, or separates (preamp and power amp), correct? Of course, the price of decent interconnect cables and speaker cables would have to be considered. Do you want a tubed preamp too? Or would you go solid state? Please give me details as to what equipment you need, and i'll try to make a recommendation.

  • Little dot + McIntosh= Miracle

  • hello,

I'm looking for a tube amp for my Sennheiser HD600 the problem is I don't know much about tube amp's?Only hear about how much better they sound :) I notice you have Little Dot MKIII and a Qinpu tube amp What one would you recommend? Also what are the best type of tubes that are out there for these amp's? I will only need one for headphones not so much speakers I use AudioEngines A2 with a Nuforce Udac-2 with a 10 Boston Acoustic powered subwoofer with Audioquest wires all around :)

  • @MsShamrocc Hello. I'm not entirely sure which tubed head amp would drive your HD600's, but 'Little Dot' has a great and varied lineup. Google 'Little Dot', and go to their online forum. There is a forum where you can ask David (the owner, or engineer?) any question regarding their amps, and i'm sure he will get back to you. He knows more than I do regarding which of their amps would drive your HD600's properly. Happy listening!

  • Are you using the sub in the video?

  • @cuallito Yes. The sub is OK, but I need to upgrade to a much better one. The Velodyne 'CT series' was a relatively inexpensive home theater line.

  • this is a very good preamp

  • @sirpolopaul It's a GREAT line level preamp for the money. A true bargain! Even the stock tubes on the Little Dot MKIII sound fantastic. But once you invest forty or fifty bucks on a set of even better matched NOS tubes, this preamp sounds absolutely exquisite in every way. I threw in a pair of CBS Hytron tubes circa the early 1950's in there, and i'm hearing detail and overtones I never had before, especially after break-in. Tubes sound amazing!
