There is no way that they would be shooting explosive (HE) rounds at the car at such close range. Also, there would be a real danger, even with ball ammo, that the gun crew would get hit by a deflected round or bits of the car. I'm calling BS on this one....
@flearis The FlaKverling 38 indeed could be used as an effective AA/ground anti-infantry/anti material heavy 'machine gun' - it was actually used to good effect in reality in this role besides being a light AAA. Wonder how it would do against a Sherman tank? Would the rounds be able to punch through the armor in the head on direct attack? Surely it could set a Sherman alight if striking the rear armor/engine or even knocking off the transmission...
best aerial 20mm was Japanese copy of 50cal upgraded to 20mm.....Germans could only get them 1000 sets for their Ki-61 fighter so they converted the MA-2 for it....Solturn slower and its shell tended to burst outside the fuselage .... for AA the Oerlikon far outperformed the 38 to earn its spot to replace 50 cals about the vessels of the USN..

It was in the 2004 edition of History of the Air - Aeroplane - it debated whether the Americans were right to install M2HB 12.7mm Browning HMG's on thier planes rather than cannons - which the result was that while the Americans did in the end acknowledged the 20mm Hispano was superior to the Browning the USAF stuck to the M3 Browning until it was shown the cannon was superior to the HMG in Korea!
HO-5 was 20mm developed from HO-103...shortened the barrel to fit the nose mount and like the browning 50cal had outstanding reliability....USAAF mostly dedicated to shooting down fighters found 50 cals more than enough,especially P-51s suddenly appearing over the homeland had a field day over the overly armed FW-109's and Me-109's..their heavier weapons and batteries of rockets pulling down their performance even lower....20mm power better for jets' shortened engagements..

Shermans and T-34s weren't the best tanks of WWII, the panther tank probably was, but like you said they made up for it with sheer numbers deployed/quantity. So in sum, watch out for China!

Flak-30 was a pre-war design that was less effective then the Flak-38 in rate of fire and some other stuff, mainly in the ease of manufactoring. The Flak-30 does not look anywhere near the same as a Flak-38 even though they share the same trailer mount and base plate.

@wehrmacht132 They sort of did. In Call of Duty: World at War, at the very end of the level Hard Landing, you can get on a Japanese anti-aircraft gun and fire back at the Japanese. I know it's not a Flak 38, but it's still an anti-aircraft gun.

@Eyedea818 Constitution my ass! They promote everything you just listed for votes, they don't care about the people! They want to take my 2nd amendment away, they can try! There is no reason I can own a machine gun or a fucking rail gun if it is being used for collective purposes. Liberals blow it out of proportion and use null and void arguments, i.e. "You don't need a machine gun to go hunting!" Anyone who owns an automatic weapon has to be rich due to the price, so they don't use them.

nah, it's a FlaK 30. FlaK 38s had quad barrels and had a new platform base.

actually you are VERY wrong. The Quad flak is a FLAKVERLING-38 which consisted of x4 Flak-38 guns installed on a special mount

@MauserK43 when this video was originally posted the title was Flak-30, I only wanted to point out that the correct name was Flak-38. Flak-30 was a pre-war design that was less effective then the Flak-38 in rate of fire and some other stuff, mainly in the ease of manufactoring. The Flak-30 does not look anywhere near the same as a Flak-38 even though they share the same trailer mount and base plate.
