"Media Matters fouders suggested hiring "trackers" to "stake out" events with Fox News employees, sending "anti-Fox News literature" to employees' homes and even convincing director Michael Moore to make a documentary about the network."
Last year, real Scientists were saying 1/watt for Solar would take another 10 years. then, last month in China, they achieved this. Please, spread the word and re-post, because the mainstream press is totally ignoring this! Go to RenewableEnergyWorld and search Chinese Tier-2 Modules. 2012 could be the collapse of the Oil Market.
no confusion about the number of jobs with obamas plan... none, zero, nada, zip, c-ya, goose egg, big-oh.
seems to me to be a bit more constructive to be unsure of the number of jobs that might be created rather than going wit the obama gulf oil plan of no jobs for anyone.
@sakar181 Religion, in my opinion, is a sometimes very useful self-help tool for lost souls. Having said that, it is every bit as mind numbing as militant atheism.
2200 jobs here ! I see 200 000 on WABC ! 250 000 over there ! 1 000 000 on the (far) right ! 2 000 000 by 2013 ! 5 000 000 ! 14 000 000 ! End of unemployement ! High-paying, decent jobs with tax beenfits for workers ! Assures place in heaven ! Jesus like it !
Ok, let's go for 50 000 000 high-paying jobs with 450 m² houses offered with beach in sight.
@DaniellesCBR In reference to @kaysandesses response, to put it another way, Liberals make up only 20% of the electorate, whereas Conservatives make up 41% and Independent moderates the balance. Take your pick. : )
The correct estimate of jobs for this pipeline is between 3,700 and 4,200. And they are temporary. This oil/gas in no way will help the U.S. Gas prices will not go down. As long as we are dealing with the world market in regard to oil and then betting on prices, nothing will change.
j ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING KEEP THE RADICAL IN OFFICE. OBAMA HAS 0% RUNNING A BUSINESS, 0% DOING BUSINESS DEALS, 0% DEALING WITH FOREIGN AFFAIRS. BUT AMERICANS DON'T NEED THOSE QUALITIES IN THERE PRES IN 2012- (w/ all the attacks on capitalism how can we not think obama's not a socialist.I do not enjoy calling the president of the u.s.a a socialist, but the shoe fits!
jobs + friendy fuel w/ safely. sounds like the way to go. oh, but america don't need gas&jobs. its all about politics! the radical is playing games with votes?? ARE YOU PEOPLE KEEP THE RADICAL IN OFFICE. OBAMA HAS 0% RUNNING A BUSINESS, 0% DOING BUSINESS DEALS, 0% DEALING WITH FOREIGN AFFAIRS. GET RID OF THE LIBERAL SOCIALIST OUT OF OFFICE (i do not enjoy calling the pres of the u.s.a a socialist, but the shoe fits!
It is difficult to project the number of jobs because beyond the direct jobs in building the pipeline, it's nearly impossible to estimate the impact of businesses that would supply the parts for the pipeline, as well as the suppliers that supply those businesses, etc. I know that's difficult for libs to comprehend, you know, that pipelines don't just appear out of thin air and immediately start polluting the enviornment.
@taterhater65 The only reason that the President put this project on hold is that the Repugnican idiots in Congress didn't allow enough time for the various federal agencies involved in the project to perform a complete evaluation of the risks and benefits. Not surprisingly, you're yet another right-wing boot licker who doesn't let the facts get in the way of the propaganda you hoover up from Fox "News".
Wow. So I guess what we're saying here is JOBS...no matter if its 2000 or 20,000 or 200,000. No tax payer money is involved in this venture..enough said.
Don you are forgetting the bigger point here: The tar sands laying in the earth are ok. As soon as man tries to move said tar sand and use it for fuel its TOXIC OMG WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!! Liberalism is a mental disorder. Period.
@txfirehawk "The tar sands laying in the earth are ok As soon as man tries to move said tar sand and use it for fuel its TOXIC OMG WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!."
So what, you think they would be pumping tar sand through the proposed pipeline?
"Liberalism is a mental disorder. Period. "
No dumbass, we just look at facts instead of hoovering up the bullshit from the right wing media cabal and parroting it like the truth.
@kaysandesses "No dumbass, we just look at facts instead of hoovering up the bullshit from the right wing media cabal and parroting it like the truth."
ROFLMAO, OMG, hahahahahahahah, Oh wouldn't that be the day? LOL, whew! Thanks for the laugh, sister.
@kaysandesses So your liberal brain can not come up with a rebuttal to my argument that things naturally occurring in the earth are just fine and not a problem but as soon as we try to move it Nope! No!!!! You can't do that! I love how you all try to save the whales, polar bears and penguins (cause they are all dying!!!) but what do you think killer whales and polar bears eat? Ignorant rube.
@DaniellesCBR The difference is the distinct quantitative advantage held by the right-wing. To put that in terms you'll be sure to understand: the ravers on the left are a tiny minority, while the ravers on the right comprise about 1/2 of the party.
@kaysandesses This is true of course, though untill recently such observations have been mostly limited to anecdotal evidence. However, go to livescience (com) and search for "Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs". Now, this is not the first scientific study reveiling how the right-wing on average has a lower IQ than the left, but as far as I know the first one also linking prejudice etc. as an outcome. To put it differently, "liberalism is a mental disorder" seem to be a mere projection. Ravers indeed
@jaxeedcom "WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder."
Dr. Lyle Rossiter noted, “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”
@LunaticFringeHunter Yeah, there is a lot of sound and comprehensive evidence backing that assertion up. Except, there isn't any. Just the opinion of yet another angry conservative. I understand that you are mad, as it must be hard to be you. It really can't be easy to have such a low IQ, but blaming liberals for all your hardships really isnt going to do you any good. Being dumb really isn't your fault, so I'm sorry I've been so mean to you before. However, your arrogance is kind of funny.
Hey, heard this mornings news? Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper went to China for a meeting about energy sales. Now, Keystone has begun the permit process to run the pipeline west to a terminal for shipment to Asia.
Nice going Obama, you have the business sense of a 3rd grader.
@LunaticFringeHunter TransCanada will still hire the planned 100 Americans! Got to have lobbyists to access the party of oops. Get that tax subsidy. In fact, they can pick up a slate of Republican delegates for a cheap $5 million.
@Redfingers "Religion is bullshit. Nice try though."
LOL, ignorance is bullshit too, but you've learned to embrace and display it. There's nothing wrong with quoting a source, which @TheInfidelCrusader did, and his post made perfect sense if you had taken the time to read the posts by @jaxeedcom , which you didn't.
It's not a source one would cite for any scientific purposes, by any means, but it IS the source for that quote, as are all other religious texts when discussing/citing them.
EG: a dissertation in comparative theology would most likely use as source material many different holy books, along with compendiums to said texts, other analyses of the same topic, etc.
Sorry to be pedantic, though Im fairly certain I agree with you in "spirit." :)
That's a fair point, but I think that if you look at the context and see what "TheInfidelCrusader" was actually trying to suggest, it was that academics were fools -because- the Bible said so. This is not a matter of comparative theology, and theology does not apply to -anything- else. It is a completely narrow, self-referential, and entirely closed system, which is why I made the point that it is not an authoritative source on things outside of that system.
@sakar181 Although, now that I recall, seeing some young troop pray for deliverance from ventilation during combat is not funny. Seeing an atheist pray in that same situation is profoundly funny.
@sakar181 Atheists, in my experience, can have a miraculous religious epiphany when the smell of cordite, blood and feces reaches a certain level. Doesn't do any good, but it is funny to watch.
Yea, atheists are human, and some may cry out to a nonexistant god whyn faced with more than what some people can handle. So what? Doesnt add any credibility to the claim that any gods exist.
@rijderunner Okay, so you don't. What does that have do with legalizing drugs?
For the full context of this read Romans 1.18-32 in the King James version.
@Redfingers I used that quote, although I am not religious by a long shot, because I thought it had a bit more class than just pointing out that @jaxeedcom 's elevated opinion of himself stinks up this thread and is boring.
As my grandmother used to say; Self-praise stinks!
@LunaticFringeHunter Let me help you understand something. There is a reason why Dr. Rossiter is not taken seriously by anybody except hardcore conservatives, and that his claims does not hold up under any amount of scrutiny. His theory is only backed up by one quite simple and rather predictable notion - that liberals do not agree with a conservative world view...thats all! This is not evidence of anything and only goes to show Rossiter is more a demagogue than an academic. Big difference!
@jaxeedcom If what you say is true about conservatives, IQ and beliefs, then why do so many leftists have trouble taking care of themselves and their families? Why do countries led by lefties continually implode (unless they have oil). All you have to do is look at Greece, lefties at their worst. Socialists have driven that country right into ground out of stupidity and greed.
@hopeurforfreedom Your premise is false. You assume that there is causation between Greeces socialism and their big debt, which simply isn't true. Their problem was and still is that they don't have any exports and mostly make money on tourism. Also their debt was relatively minor until they started dealing with Goldman Sachs, so it was currency speculation that caused their big downfall. Blaming socialism or leftists is just a convenient scapegoat for demagogues, as there is no actual relation.
@jaxeedcom Would that be the same Goldman-Sachs whose PAC gave President elect nearly $ 1 million in 2007 and 2008? Goldman-Sachs has always been a hotbed of Democrat supporters and insider info, even input into pending Congressional legislation.
Anyway, Goldman-Sachs being the cause of Greece's current problems is like saying that after one contracts AIDs, it is the fault of the pharmacutical firm for not making a better medicine. It's just plain stupid.
@LunaticFringeHunter Right, because the currency speculation that escalated the debt manyfold, making it completely unmanagable while making Goldman Sach a quick sack of cash, was supposed to be the ... medicine. LOL! Quite the medicine catalysing the illness completely out of control with no chance of a cure, what an incredibly stupid analogy. Whoever told you this is a fool, and you really should not pretend to understand something you know nothing about.
@jaxeedcom You need to educate yourself so you don't sound like such a fool. Since you're so fond of getting your information from YouTube, search Nigel Farrage of the EU parliment, listen to his speeches about how Greece got to where it is, then get back to us. I follow Asian Markets and the EU very closely, while you rely on SouthPark and MTV. Huge difference.
@LunaticFringeHunter Pfft I do not rely on that at all you silly git, and that you follow EU "very closely" is laughable as you clearly didnt know about the role Goldman Sach played in making a relatively minor debt massive. That there was unsound economic practices that put them in debt in the first place is true, but you evidently do not understand the rest of the story. Clearly because it is so much more convenient for pretend otherwise, and only hear what fits your ideology.
@jaxeedcom Hard to be an economy based on olive exports. Their big debt is based on Socialism, I am Greek Orthodox Christian, yes Socialism destroyed our country, not speculators, they were just the vultures picking on the remains of socialism.
@hopeurforfreedom Aaah, then I will concede you probably know more. I had however no doubt there was some stupid political decisions involved. Too much socialism is just as bad as too much unregulated capitalism. BTW, it's not just me personally claiming this about conservatives, but the study from Brock Uni. I recommend checking it out, as it is quite comprehensive. There's also another study from London Uni. by Satoshi Kanazawa.
@jaxeedcom Brock University? A Brain Trust? Just how is building of the pipeline unregulated capitalism? We fought WWII in less time than the government has been studying the pipeline. BTW, Universities are not the place to study Capitalism. Leftist professors are never gonna give the thumbs up, the proof is in America itself. Over-regulation gives you Socialist economies, which always fail because businesses spend more time complying with regulation than building products...
@hopeurforfreedom You are not going to hear me condone over regulation, but under regulation is also bad. As we've seen with the financial crises, when what basically amounts to fraud is perfectly legal. It can be likened to roads with no traffic rules or a sports game with no rules or referee. The thought that a totally free market unbound by any sense of altruism may be able to govern themselves to the betterment of all is preposterously naive. Such only serves the oligarch dynasties.
@jaxeedcom We don't have under-regulation. BTW, Clinton signed the bill giving unfettered ability for credit swaps and Frank & Dodd had complete oversight of banking committee's for 1 1/2 years prior to the melt down, during the melt down and after. Your talking about a totally free market has never happened.
@hopeurforfreedom That democratic politicians signed de bill that deregulated the markets to allow credit default swaps is a moot point. It is still deregulation, and pratices like credit default swaps wasn't designed by the government. The OTC markets like the derivitives market on wall street is indeed completely unregulated and totally free, and the crises originated here. You can blame the government for not doing enough, but hardly for doing too much.
@jaxeedcom credit swaps are derivatives. Easy to tell you are a leftist, you don't know what you are talking about. I have an MS in the field of Geology. Leftist ideology is a cult, like that idiot ALGORE, who has little credibility after that stupid movie.
@hopeurforfreedom Oh, and this is a sidenote to the pipeline topic that you braught up that has nothing to do with the pipeline topic. I find your destain for universities or what you alledge to be leftist professors to be unfounded. If you actually suggest academia has not benefitted our society, I would call you blind.
@jaxeedcom If you don't think most professors aren't leftist, you haven't been to college. If you have, you went through blind. Academia has benefitted society, I never said it didn't, but blindly believing any university report isn't smart.
@hopeurforfreedom Most professors might be more liberal in their thinking, but then again knowledge does liberate the mind. I am not blindly believing in the study, but if you want to dismiss it you better show what's wrong with the method. Just blankly claim it must be false because of "leftist" professors is frankly just excusing for ignorance.
@jaxeedcom If knowledge liberates the mind, then maybe college professors don't get out enough, for if they were that smart, they wouldn't be teaching. Professors I know, and I know a lot of them in my profession, teach when they can't make it in the private sector. Uh, most professors, if they are good, don't work at universities....
@hopeurforfreedom "If what you say is true about conservatives, IQ and beliefs, then why do so many leftists have trouble taking care of themselves and their families?"
ROFL, that cut to the chase. It ain't Conservatives weeping their eyes out for more and more welfare, food stamps, Head Start, ACORN, NEA, EPA and on and on, it's dysfunctional Liberals and their sychophants like @jaxeedcom .
Ask a Liberal and a Conservative what they each think of state's rights, you'll get your answer
@hopeurforfreedom Wolfgang Schäuble, Germany’s finance minister, from his recent piece in the Financial Times:
"Whatever role the markets have played in catalysing the sovereign debt crisis ( re: Greece ), it is an undisputable fact that excessive state spending has led to unsustainable levels of debt and deficits that now threaten our economic welfare."
"An alternative point of view is that, while the crisis may have had some peculiarly local triggers (the Greek government's admission that it fudged some official statistics certainly didn't help), much of the current mess is the result of forces and decisions outside the control of peripheral Europe's governments. In other words, the crisis could have non-local, systemic causes."
In other words, the adoption of the Euro created a reverse-flow capital bonanza!
@txfirehawk "So your liberal brain can not come up with a rebuttal to my argument that things naturally occurring in the earth are just fine and not a problem but as soon as we try to move it Nope"
Well molten lava which is in the ground is a perfect example of a natural substance that causes all sorts of problems when it's disturbed.. I don't know about you but I don't want lava flowing down my front yard. It's crazy to believe that just because something is natural it's safe
@txfirehawk As I said before It's absolutely crazy to believe that just because something is natural it's safe The reason people are ignoring your question is because it stupid and it shows a complete lack of intellect
Hemlock is natural yet it will kill you if you eat it. Snakes are natural yet they kill 1000's of people every year. Lighting is natural and it will turn you to ashes. The claim that something safe because it's is natural is nothing more then right wing loonacy
Well, the trans Alaska pipeline was only 800 miles and created 28,000 jobs. If we go with that number, it's still 28,000 more people working than there are now.
So let me get this straight. It's ok for Obama to stop this project that would create jobs for the American people, and allow us to purchase oil from our friends in Canada instead of our enemies in the Middle East because the conservative media can't agree on the number of jobs that will be created? You can't make this stuff up.
@donsmithshow Well, you just did make it up. What you are posing is not what this video is contending at all. However this is how the conservatives in here choose to frame their rhetoric. All that is being shown here is that they are inflated the numbers to the extreme. That is all.
@jaxeedcom Lol. So let me see if I understand what you're saying. The video shows examples of how the conservative media is lying to the American people about how many jobs "would have" been created by the pipeline. Right? The mere fact that this video came out right after Obama rejected the job producing (regardless of how many) pipeline is merely conservative rhetoric? You see absolutely no connection between the two? Lol. I'll say it again, you can't make this stuff up.
@donsmithshow Yes, I certainly am saying you are putting this video in that specific context on your own. Notice there isn't any arguments as to why the pipeline is a bad idea, and isn't posing what it does as if it is an argument against the pipeline. Obviously the timing is related to the subject being current, and you can certainly find other videos on youtube with the arguments against the pipeline.
@jaxeedcom Lol. In my world this is no more or no less than a "cover-up" for Obama video. It's astonishing to watch people like you who are so oblivious to facts that are quite clear. And as for the argument (or lack of as you say) in the video, the argument is "don't look at Obama, it's the liars in the conservative media" that we need to focus on. To you, it's merely a coincidence. Funny stuff.
@donsmithshow I find it astonishing that people like yourself are so ideologically driven that you cant see a video like this for what it is, and rather must make up some conspiratorial reason for its existance as if everything either got to be for or against obama. As if there are no nuances and one cant talk about one subject on its own merits without discarding another, as if one cant keep more than one thought at the time.
@jaxeedcom Lol. That must be it; I'm the one that can't see the video for what it is. Barack Obama alone decides that he will strike down the pipeline. Then this video showing that the conservative media is lying about how many people could have gotten a job had the project been approved appears on the very day that Obama announces the decision. Yet in your world, there is no connection at all. And I'm the one who can't see the video for what it is. Amazing.
@donsmithshow I said the timing probably was due to it being current, so sure there is a connection. But so what? It only shows how the conservative media inflates the numbers and doesn't actually offer any arguments against the pipeline as you seem to read into it. Anyone who gets from this that the pipeline is bad due to the conservative media distorting the facts is a fool. So this notion you are proposing is just silly, as nobody is actually tricked in that way unless their idiots.
@jaxeedcom Anyone who gets from this conversation that I am saying that the video suggests that the pipeline is bad because of the conservative media lies, would actually be the fool. I wasn't aware that you did not comprehend. The point is that this is a diversion tactic, plain and simple. Don't talk about the decision, talk about the conservative media lies. Let's make sure we don't look at the impact of this decision, keep focused on Fox News. I hope that helps you out.
@donsmithshow Now, if you were to say that this video shows how the conservative media tries to make obama look worse for shutting it down then is actually true, then you might have a point. But then again, that would be a good point unlike the one you proposed was the intended purpose.
@donsmithshow "It's ok for Obama to stop this project that would create jobs for the American people" This is what you proposed was suggested here. However, this is not what the video said at all, so this is merely your interpretation. It does not discuss this at all, and that you see this as an attempt at diversion shows you dont think people can hold more then one thought at the same time.
@jaxeedcom We have a winner! Yes, this is my interpretation of the video. What do you consider your comments to be? The final word? That must be quite an ego to carry around. Wow.
@donsmithshow There is a big difference between illustrating how the conservative media attempts to scandalise a situation, and saying that what obama did was ok. As I said, you lack nuance.
@kaysandesses I am fully aware of where we buy most of our oil from. Are you aware that we also buy oil from the Middle East? Here's a hint for you.......we most certainly do. What else you got? Doh!
@kaysandesses Lol. I implied that we only buy oil from the Middle East? Hmmm. You should really think about tossing out your secret decoder ring, I think it's broken.
@donsmithshow You most certainly did. That may not have been your intention, but don't blame me if you're unable to communicate effectively in this manner.
@donsmithshow You most certainly did. That may not have been your intention, but don't blame me if you're unable to communicate effectively in this manner.
@donsmithshow You most certainly did. That may not have been your intention, but don't blame me if you're unable to communicate effectively in this manner.
@donsmithshow You most certainly did. That may not have been your intention, but don't blame me if you're unable to communicate effectively in this manner.
can greedy ppl figure out how to create jobs that are a little less destructive. Common sense says that if that many peeps are against it, something must be wrong w/it.
I find it kind of fascinating that the right-wingers in this thread apparently do not grasp when they have lost a discussion, and merely resort to irrelevant bickering and dirt throwing as if that gives them the advantage. Just that fact that an immature personal attack gets 6 likes shows how little the right-wing cares about facts and reason. I lean towards thinking them simply being trolls, though if not - its a sad day for the conservative movement.
@LunaticFringeHunter No, those were entirely justified. You showed yourself incapable on staying on subject or making rational counter arguments. Instead you started refuting claims I had not made and going of on an irrelevant tirade, so anyone in my position would then be right to question your intelligence. The last one was also not aimed at you personally, but good job taking it out of context. Flipper, are you really this foolish? Or do you just pretend?
@jaxeedcom Blah, blah, blah. Well then, let's stay on subject.
The Conservatives are all over the place on the number of jobs created by the Keystone XL pipeline, right. What's so bad about that?
That's peanuts compared to the millions of jobs President Obama has imagined he saved, yet cannot prove, right?
President Obama can, however, point to the 60,000 jobs he nuked when he ordered an end to Gulf oil exploration and the rigs and jobs moved to Brazil, right?
@LunaticFringeHunter Aaah, I see. So thats how your brain works. Whenever you hear or read something you dont like, all you can hear is "blah, blah, blah". Ok, so now you want to change the subject, huh? Didnt enjoy getting your ass handed to you on the subject we were discussing? Ah well, no thanks. I dont think I can be bothered to have another discussion with someone as confused as you.
@jaxeedcom Translation: You're clueless and unarmed on the subject at hand, another shining example of a public school education on display. If you can't answer the question, or won't answer, that's fine but stop patting yourself on the back for the trophy you didn't win and take your participation trophy home to admire.
Adverus solem ne loquitor. Let that be good advice to you in the future.
@LunaticFringeHunter Right, the guy who does not understand basic logic, refutes a point without any arguments and strayes off subject to debate strawmen, is going to talk to ME about education and participation trophys? ROFL!! You really shouldn't be so arrogant when you keep stepping in your own do-do as often as yourself.
Republicans who say "Any jobs are better than no jobs so build it," highlight why we always have to clean up their mess. They cannot even contemplate making an educated/rational decision AFTER weighing the COSTS and BENEFITS of this pipeline.
Would you allow a foreign country to run a dangerous pipeline (Tar sands are more dangerous than a normal oil line) 1,700 miles across precious aquifers and farmland and risk contaminating all that land & destroying those jobs for a few temp oil jobs?
@VITRUVIANMANNOLA NO, if the pussy-assed Liberals hadn't blocked the building of new refineries for the last 30 years, we wouldn't even be discussing pipelines for tar sand oil. The Governors of either Montana or North Dakota should tell the Feds and the EPA to go fuck themselves and build a refinery on the border, doing away with the pipeline issue pumping oil all the way to Houston to ancient refineries.
@drhu Ireland, Cobh near Cork. me an the lads tip a few at the Roarin Donkey and watch with dismay at the legions of Americans trying to kill their own country. I'd be imploring Democrats who are on the stone wall to wake up and look to the failures of socialism in the EU to see the future they seem to be so eager to embrace.
@BillyBones1882 We appreciate your concern from across the pond, Billy, but as you can see, we simply enjoy tormenting these Leftist losers for entertainment. Don't worry, they always overplay their hand and, in the end, they lose.
This entire video argument is about Conservatives distorting the number of jobs that WORK might create, but as you can see, the Liberals are happiest when there are no jobs created and no disagreement ensues.
@LunaticFringeHunter - Whatever the amount of jobs created, they are short, temporary jobs and when all is said and done, the gas and oil shipped across our country will go on the world market, hence the pipeline will project will NOT lower our gas prices and the only people making money on this is Canada! The GOP never think things through. Very sad indeed!
@phillipmarch22 "when all is said and done, the gas and oil shipped across our country will go on the world market, hence the pipeline will project will NOT lower our gas prices and the only people making money on this is Canada! The GOP never think things through. Very sad indeed!"
Actually, it is ASSUMED that the additional oil from Canada would be processed and exported, not the oil from the U.S. that joins the pipeline en route.
@phillipmarch22 In addition, the principal reason we are exporting oil right now is due to the glut of production resulting from a crappy economy. Soooooo, it's fair to say that if the economy picks up, the exporting of oil will dwindle and they we'll be wishing we had overproduction once again.
Liberals never think things through. Very sad indeed! LOL
@LunaticFringeHunter Sorry, bullshit. Our economy has been great at times and gas prices have never been higher. The GOP NEVER EVER think things through. This pipeline is nothing but a project that has put money in the GOP Congress's pocket. Get rid of the lobbyists. NOW!
@phillipmarch22 "This pipeline is nothing but a project that has put money in the GOP Congress's pocket."
Not only is that statement delusional, it doesn't make any sense. There's no GOP Congress, as they only control the House, so it makes just as much sense to say that it puts money in the pockets of the Democrat Senate and White House. Are you 11 years old, or what?
"Get rid of the lobbyists. NOW!
That, at least makes sense and is part of the Tea Party goals.
"In September 2009, the Pew Research Center published a report on public views toward various national news organizations. This report indicated that 72% of Republican Fox viewers rated the channel as "favorable", and 43% of Democratic viewers rated the channel as "favorable" as well."
However, there still remain a small number of cranky, intellectually constipated, sexually frustrated, gender confused individuals out there who hate Fox News, @jaxeedcom being just one example. : )
@LunaticFringeHunter Thanks for proving what a crackpot you are. What does favorability ratings down party lines got to do with anything? I was talking about misinformation, not bias. Harward, Maryland, Prinston, Fairleigh Dickinson, WSJ/NBC, PEW, etc. etc. etc. all got studies concluding again and again that FoxNews viewers are the most underinformed and misinformed. One even found FoxNews viewers to be less informed that people not watching any news! You arn't very intelligent, are you?
"In 2010, the network's programs took the top 10 spots for most watched cable news programs in the age 25–54 demographic and the top 12 spots among total cable news programs viewers."
@LunaticFringeHunter OH, and to PWN you even further, this time in regards to another irrelevant post of yours. Are you aware of the logical falacy called Argumentum Ad Populum? Lookie here: "Must all be people who like being lied to, eh?" You don't even grasp basic logic, so why should I spend more time on you?
@jaxeedcom a recent university of phoenix study concluded that moonbats obsessed with fox news have misshapened and smaller than normal penises. film at 11
I'd like to see this whole Keystone XL pipeline project sacked in favor of a huge refiner on the North Dakota border with Canada. No pipeline necessary then.
Let's not forget that pipeline was included in a piece of legislation the President wanted...and now of course he has cancelled. He let it ride till he got what he wanted.
By all means I think it's time to just let 21% of this country dictate to the rest what we can and cannot use for fuel...what we can and cannot eat.....what we can and cannot say....who we can and cannot befriend.
Gee, I guess the left would rather America continue buying oil from their friend Hugo Chavez and send it to America in those trustworthy tankers. Plus, America really doesn't need the work, let the chinks have the oil, send it to China in tankers. Obama is incompetent, does the moron know there is already over 25,000 miles of pipeline on the aquifer? What a fucking idiot.
@hopeurforfreedom Wow. I'm embarrassed for you. Before calling others morons, make sure you're not one yourself. How about instead of increasing supply - which will only be sold on the open market at market prices - we decrease demand by investing in alternate energy? It was the Right and their corporate cronies that increased our dependence on oil; you really think a pipeline is going to fix that? We only get a small percentage (no more than 10%) of our oil from Venezuela.
@gnomechomskylives When you find an alternative energy source that is reliable enough to invest in I am sure capitalists would be happy to take over. Oil doesn't just turn into gas and go into carts you know. it would still be around regardless. Meanwhile anyone on the face of the planet but the US is able to drill for it and refine it and sell it.
Even in our own waters. Why do you prefer them over us?
@drhu You don't have to replace oil to make an impact. Oil will be with us for the foreseeable future but we can reduce our demand for it through uses of alternative energy.
As for drilling, 2 problems: Even if we could tap all our untapped reserves it wouldn't be enough to cover our current demand - and - it would be ineffectual impact on the price of oil because said oil would be sold on the open market. Unless you're arguing for nationalizing our oil companies, which we know you're not.
@drhu Oh no, Dr. Hu - you're still at it I see? Your response is typical short-term right wing reptilian thinking. Even if few hundred jobs were permanent, the long-term environmental damage that a pipeline like this is capable of is not worth the investment. I bet you still want to open coastal waters for oil platforms too right? Let the companies keep the profits and let the states foot the bill for their mess. "Socialism for the rich and capitalism for everyone else" the Right's motto.
@gnomechomskylives Ok let's get an understanding.....I rarely watch Fox. My comments are directed at the comments here.
until someone comes up with something that actually works in terms of an alternative you really don't have much choice but to try and make petro chemicals easier to obtain.
I always find it interesting that "green jobs" don't include maintaining something like this so it is safer. Socialism? The right? You smoking something today?
@jpatrick1967 Hey dumb ass, are you even aware we already have 25,000 miles of pipeline over that aquifer? China thanks you, Chavez thanks you. The stupidity of the left is amazing.
@hopeurforfreedom I dont give a shit about what's already there. My comment was about you brainless assholes who believe everything you see on that shithole of a "news" network, no matter how many different lies they tell about the same subject. Whenever you fans of Fox here something on there, you never listen to the true facts...you always blame the left for spreading propaganda. Facts elude FoxNews, and therefore they elude you brainless dicks. You're lazy cowards who dont want facts.
@drhu That is correct. There is NO equivilant to FoxNews propaganda on the left. None! Even the supposedly left leaning MSNBC and CurrentTV does not lie and distort the way FoxNews rutinely does. Also, the FoxNews audience are the only news consumers who only trust one news source, and falsely believe all other media is liberal. Which obviously is why they are way underinformed and misinformed as countless studies has proven. So yeah, only the right-wing has a propaganda network.
@jaxeedcom Oh for Pete's sake you actually believe that those wondrous liberal outlets have no agenda? Grow up and ask for a refund for your education.
@drhu I did not say that so you are arguing against a strawman there. Sure they have an agenda, but they dont lie or distort the way FoxNews does. I am fully grown up and have a bachelors degree in Media Studies. :-)
@drhu Well, I do not buy your interpretation of the left, as that discription is much more suitable for the right. Or wouldn't you say it is distructive to have a propaganda network? Isn't it distructive to common sense discourse to constantly spread misinformation to apease an idelogical audience? There is a big difference between an ideological focus and perspective, and lies and misinformation to falsely maintain an ideological view. The left is not nearly as misinformed as the right.
@jaxeedcom As if misinformation can only come and be spread in one direction. Misinformed about what exactly? The NDAA was passed at a point when the news organizations were getting everyone to party for New Years. We lost major amounts of freedom there. The Patriot Act was children playing in a sandbox by comparison. That came from Democrats and was passed by all and I hope the Republicans fry for it.
@drhu No, misinformation can be spread both ways, but currently are for the most part spread one way due to the single propaganda network in USA. There is so much misinformation to select from on the right. Just to mention one example, the notion that Obama has been cutting deffence spending when he actually has increased it. I agree that NDAA is a horrible thing, by the way. Shocking to say the least.
@drhu I disagree. Studies clearly show that FoxNews viewers are way more misinformed and underinformed than viewers of the other networks. Which evidently is due to the other networks not engaging in lies and distortions, even though two certainly does have an ideologically left-wing perspective. It does not qualify as propaganda before we are talking about deliberate attempts at misinforming, which is reserved to one single network - FoxNews.
@jaxeedcom ROFLMAO... you are the special little snowflake you mother said you were. How many times has Fox been sued for slander or liable? Why is Fox #1 in the world?
@LunaticFringeHunter FoxNews has been grated the ability to lie after a court case in Florida 2003, as they ruled that the first amendment protects their right to do so. It is probably doing so well partly because it being comfortable viewing for an idealogically conservative audience, but that does not imply that they necessarily are more credible. Also it is worth mentioning that it is included in basic cable, which likely is why so many businesses establishments run FoxNews. Inflated ratings.

The correct estimate of jobs for this pipeline is between 3,700 and 4,200. And they are temporary. This oil/gas in no way will help the U.S. Gas prices will not go down. As long as we are dealing with the world market in regard to oil and then betting on prices, nothing will change.

It is difficult to project the number of jobs because beyond the direct jobs in building the pipeline, it's nearly impossible to estimate the impact of businesses that would supply the parts for the pipeline, as well as the suppliers that supply those businesses, etc. I know that's difficult for libs to comprehend, you know, that pipelines don't just appear out of thin air and immediately start polluting the enviornment.

kaysandesses 1 month ago
@kaysandesses This is true of course, though untill recently such observations have been mostly limited to anecdotal evidence. It's not a source one would cite for any scientific purposes, by any means, but it IS the source for that quote, as are all other religious texts when discussing/citing them.

That's a fair point, but I think that if you look at the context and see what "TheInfidelCrusader" was actually trying to suggest, it was that academics were fools -because- the Bible said so. Big difference!
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom If what you say is true about conservatives, IQ and beliefs, then why do so many leftists have trouble taking care of themselves and their families? Why do countries led by lefties continually implode (unless they have oil). All you have to do is look at Greece, lefties at their worst. Socialists have driven that country right into ground out of stupidity and greed.
hopeurforfreedom 1 month ago
@hopeurforfreedom Your premise is false. You assume that there is causation between Greeces socialism and their big debt, which simply isn't true. Their problem was and still is that they don't have any exports and mostly make money on tourism. Also their debt was relatively minor until they started dealing with Goldman Sachs, so it was currency speculation that caused their big downfall. Blaming socialism or leftists is just a convenient scapegoat for demagogues, as there is no actual relation.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Would that be the same Goldman-Sachs whose PAC gave President elect nearly $ 1 million in 2007 and 2008? Goldman-Sachs has always been a hotbed of Democrat supporters and insider info, even input into pending Congressional legislation.
Anyway, Goldman-Sachs being the cause of Greece's current problems is like saying that after one contracts AIDs, it is the fault of the pharmacutical firm for not making a better medicine. It's just plain stupid.
LunaticFringeHunter 1 month ago
@LunaticFringeHunter Right, because the currency speculation that escalated the debt manyfold, making it completely unmanagable while making Goldman Sach a quick sack of cash, was supposed to be the ... medicine. LOL! Quite the medicine catalysing the illness completely out of control with no chance of a cure, what an incredibly stupid analogy. LunaticFringeHunter 4 weeks ago
@LunaticFringeHunter Pfft I do not rely on that at all you silly git, and that you follow EU "very closely" is laughable as you clearly didnt know about the role Goldman Sach played in making a relatively minor debt massive. Clearly because it is so much more convenient for pretend otherwise, and only hear what fits your ideology.

@hopeurforfreedom Aaah, then I will concede you probably know more. I had however no doubt there was some stupid political decisions involved. I recommend checking it out, as it is quite comprehensive. There's also another study from London Uni. by Satoshi Kanazawa.
jaxeedcom 3 weeks ago
@jaxeedcom Brock University? A Brain Trust? Just how is building of the pipeline unregulated capitalism? We fought WWII in less time than the government has been studying the pipeline. BTW, Universities are not the place to study Capitalism. Leftist professors are never gonna give the thumbs up, the proof is in America itself. Over-regulation gives you Socialist economies, which always fail because businesses spend more time complying with regulation than building products...
hopeurforfreedom 3 weeks ago
@hopeurforfreedom You are not going to hear me condone over regulation, but under regulation is also bad. As we've seen with the financial crises, when what basically amounts to fraud is perfectly legal. It can be likened to roads with no traffic rules or a sports game with no rules or referee. The thought that a totally free market unbound by any sense of altruism may be able to govern themselves to the betterment of all is preposterously naive. Such only serves the oligarch dynasties.
jaxeedcom 3 weeks ago
@jaxeedcom We don't have under-regulation. BTW, Clinton signed the bill giving unfettered ability for credit swaps and Frank & Dodd had complete oversight of banking committee's for 1 1/2 years prior to the melt down, during the melt down and after. Your talking about a totally free market has never happened.
hopeurforfreedom 3 weeks ago
@hopeurforfreedom That democratic politicians signed de bill that deregulated the markets to allow credit default swaps is a moot point. It is still deregulation, and pratices like credit default swaps wasn't designed by the government. You can blame the government for not doing enough, but hardly for doing too much.

Well, the trans Alaska pipeline was only 800 miles and created 28,000 jobs. If we go with that number, it's still 28,000 more people working than there are now.
Coulterr 1 month ago
So let me get this straight. It's ok for Obama to stop this project that would create jobs for the American people, and allow us to purchase oil from our friends in Canada instead of our enemies in the Middle East because the conservative media can't agree on the number of jobs that will be created? You can't make this stuff up.
donsmithshow 1 month ago
@donsmithshow Well, you just did make it up. What you are posing is not what this video is contending at all. However this is how the conservatives in here choose to frame their rhetoric. All that is being shown here is that they are inflated the numbers to the extreme. That is all.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Lol. So let me see if I understand what you're saying. The video shows examples of how the conservative media is lying to the American people about how many jobs "would have" been created by the pipeline. Right? The mere fact that this video came out right after Obama rejected the job producing (regardless of how many) pipeline is merely conservative rhetoric? You see absolutely no connection between the two? Lol. I'll say it again, you can't make this stuff up.
donsmithshow 1 month ago
@donsmithshow Yes, I certainly am saying you are putting this video in that specific context on your own. Notice there isn't any arguments as to why the pipeline is a bad idea, and isn't posing what it does as if it is an argument against the pipeline. Obviously the timing is related to the subject being current, and you can certainly find other videos on youtube with the arguments against the pipeline.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Lol. Funny stuff.
donsmithshow 1 month ago
@donsmithshow I find it astonishing that people like yourself are so ideologically driven that you cant see a video like this for what it is, and rather must make up some conspiratorial reason for its existance as if everything either got to be for or against obama. As if there are no nuances and one cant talk about one subject on its own merits without discarding another, as if one cant keep more than one thought at the time.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Lol. Amazing.
donsmithshow 1 month ago

I hope that helps you out.
donsmithshow 1 month ago
@donsmithshow Now, if you were to say that this video shows how the conservative media tries to make obama look worse for shutting it down then is actually true, then you might have a point. But then again, that would be a good point unlike the one you proposed was the intended purpose.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Well good thing you have great sources of news like media matters to keep you from falling for the Fox News lies. Lol.
donsmithshow 1 month ago

Or do you just pretend?
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Blah, blah, blah. Well then, let's stay on subject.
The Conservatives are all over the place on the number of jobs created by the Keystone XL pipeline, right. What's so bad about that?
That's peanuts compared to the millions of jobs President Obama has imagined he saved, yet cannot prove, right?
President Obama can, however, point to the 60,000 jobs he nuked when he ordered an end to Gulf oil exploration and the rigs and jobs moved to Brazil, right?

Republicans who say "Any jobs are better than no jobs so build it," highlight why we always have to clean up their mess. They cannot even contemplate making an educated/rational decision AFTER weighing the COSTS and BENEFITS of this pipeline.
Would you allow a foreign country to run a dangerous pipeline (Tar sands are more dangerous than a normal oil line) 1,700 miles across precious aquifers and farmland and risk contaminating all that land & destroying those jobs for a few temp oil jobs?
VITRUVIANMANNOLA 1 month ago
@VITRUVIANMANNOLA NO, if the pussy-assed Liberals hadn't blocked the building of new refineries for the last 30 years, we wouldn't even be discussing pipelines for tar sand oil. The Governors of either Montana or North Dakota should tell the Feds and the EPA to go fuck themselves and build a refinery on the border, doing away with the pipeline issue pumping oil all the way to Houston to ancient refineries.

Actually, it is ASSUMED that the additional oil from Canada would be processed and exported, not the oil from the U.S. that joins the pipeline en route.
LunaticFringeHunter 1 month ago
@phillipmarch22 In addition, the principal reason we are exporting oil right now is due to the glut of production resulting from a crappy economy. Soooooo, it's fair to say that if the economy picks up, the exporting of oil will dwindle and they we'll be wishing we had overproduction once again.

You must be crazy to think a pipeline can create thousands of job. First off once the construction is done well so are the jobs.

Plus, America really doesn't need the work, let the chinks have the oil, send it to China in tankers. Obama is incompetent, does the moron know there is already over 25,000 miles of pipeline on the aquifer? What a fucking idiot.

You really have it figured out!
TheTurboHarry 1 month ago
@hopeurforfreedom Wow. I'm embarrassed for you. Before calling others morons, make sure you're not one yourself. How about instead of increasing supply - which will only be sold on the open market at market prices - we decrease demand by investing in alternate energy? It was the Right and their corporate cronies that increased our dependence on oil; you really think a pipeline is going to fix that? We only get a small percentage (no more than 10%) of our oil from Venezuela.
gnomechomskylives 1 month ago
@gnomechomskylives When you find an alternative energy source that is reliable enough to invest in I am sure capitalists would be happy to take over. Oil doesn't just turn into gas and go into carts you know. it would still be around regardless. Meanwhile anyone on the face of the planet but the US is able to drill for it and refine it and sell it.
Even in our own waters. Why do you prefer them over us?
drhu 1 month ago

"Socialism for the rich and capitalism for everyone else" the Right's motto.

until someone comes up with something that actually works in terms of an alternative you really don't have much choice but to try and make petro chemicals easier to obtain.

@hopeurforfreedom I dont give a shit about what's already there. Whenever you fans of Fox here something on there, you never listen to the true facts...you always blame the left for spreading propaganda. Facts elude FoxNews, and therefore they elude you brainless dicks. You're lazy cowards who dont want facts.
jpatrick1967 1 month ago
@jpatrick1967 So there is no such thing as propaganda from the left huh?
drhu 1 month ago
@drhu That is correct. There is NO equivilant to FoxNews propaganda on the left. None! Even the supposedly left leaning MSNBC and CurrentTV does not lie and distort the way FoxNews rutinely does. Also, the FoxNews audience are the only news consumers who only trust one news source, and falsely believe all other media is liberal. Which obviously is why they are way underinformed and misinformed as countless studies has proven. So yeah, only the right-wing has a propaganda network.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom Oh for Pete's sake you actually believe that those wondrous liberal outlets have no agenda? Grow up and ask for a refund for your education.
drhu 1 month ago

@jaxeedcom Bless your heart. I have common sense....rarely watch Fox but I watch the left try to destroy anything but their message daily.
drhu 1 month ago
@drhu Well, I do not buy your interpretation of the left, as that discription is much more suitable for the right. Or wouldn't you say it is distructive to have a propaganda network? Isn't it distructive to common sense discourse to constantly spread misinformation to apease an idelogical audience? There is a big difference between an ideological focus and perspective, and lies and misinformation to falsely maintain an ideological view. The left is not nearly as misinformed as the right.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom As if misinformation can only come and be spread in one direction. Misinformed about what exactly? The NDAA was passed at a point when the news organizations were getting everyone to party for New Years. We lost major amounts of freedom there. The Patriot Act was children playing in a sandbox by comparison. That came from Democrats and was passed by all and I hope the Republicans fry for it.
Don't forget SOPA.......
drhu 1 month ago
@drhu No, misinformation can be spread both ways, but currently are for the most part spread one way due to the single propaganda network in USA. There is so much misinformation to select from on the right. Just to mention one example, the notion that Obama has been cutting deffence spending when he actually has increased it. I agree that NDAA is a horrible thing, by the way. Shocking to say the least.
jaxeedcom 1 month ago
@jaxeedcom COrrection........all of them right and left have become propaganda networks.
drhu 1 month ago

LunaticFringeHunter 1 month ago
@LunaticFringeHunter FoxNews has been grated the ability to lie after a court case in Florida 2003, as they ruled that the first amendment protects their right to do so. It is probably doing so well partly because it being comfortable viewing for an idealogically conservative audience, but that does not imply that they necessarily are more credible. Also it is worth mentioning that it is included in basic cable, which likely is why so many businesses establishments run FoxNews. Inflated ratings.
