Make sure you press and hold the menu button. Also maybe it needs to have the program on. Up at the top right hand corner of your screen check if the circle with the lock symbol in it is there.
u can go to system preferences and then security and then general. You can pair your remote to your computer. That way the laptop will only respond to that one remote for the iAlertU
they should make an option so like if you have a regular computer and you leave your MacBook somewhere like work or something it will send it to your regular computer and show you a pic of who tried to steal it lol
they should make an option so like if you have a regular computer and you leave your MacBook somewhere like work or something it will send it to your regular computer and show you a pic of who tried to steal it lol
Well, how does a thief runaway with an imac hooked up to the outlet? and if its not hooked up to the outlet/power source...how does it have power to run iAlertU?
I'm guessing the idea is is that say your out at your local Starbucks, you get up to get some more java and you simply lock up your MacBook as you get up. Soon enough a thief tries to take it and the alarm goes off in public. How would the thief be able to stop it from beeping? Simple concept, hey it's free might as well use it.
It will alarm if you close the macbook also. The only way to stop the alarm is via the remote. Also, you can't arm it without the remote. The macbook motion sensors that detect when the notebook is dropped or detects any sudden motion is what is being used. You can also set the alert for keyboard strokes too. Its freeware too.
Just a little notice to everybody thinking about getting it, it all works, EXCEPT the remote activation.
Since the latest update, especially on Leopard, the apple remote no longer activates it.
Everything else is perfect, the screen flashes, the volume is full and uses the internal speakers, the iSight takes a nice little photo of the perpetrator, and the only way to disable it is nicely inconspicuous.
this is soooooo cool! i saw somebody take it(the macbook)once when i was on the train. everybody looked at him and sead that is was a mistake!!!! when the owner returned from whatever he was doing he just smilled.
It uses the built in Sudden Motion Sensors to detect movement. The sudden motion sensors are used to stop the hard drive in the event that the laptop is dropped, to prevent damage. They can also be utilized for things like this.
Just so you know, the alarm goes off when the computer is moved, when a key is pressed, the trackpad touched or clicked, the power cord being unplugged or the screen closed.
I love that program, getting my macbook on Monday, I saw on some video that it takes pictures of the person who trys to steal it and emails the pictures to you, is this true?

Look, when he activate iAlertU the iSight turned on.
And when he close the iAlertU the iSight turned off.
