  • i did whit code and can't set it off

  • I have a MacBook but…

Do we need to have an Apple remote to do that?

  • I can't wait to have my macboon in my graduation

  • MINES BROKE a apple logo and circle with line through it show and a folder with question mark

  • wait but if you use it for something else and hide the mac then I guess It would work

  • wait, what if the robber takes the screaming mac and then waits till its battery runs out? then uses a mac charger to awaken it and uses it.

  • do you have to have the remote?

  • wait where did you get the remote

Is it in the box from where your mac comes from or do you have to buy it .

    :D

  • when you buy the mac from the apple online store you get the option to buy one with it

  • if u dont have remote, watch my vid, it will teach u how to without remote

  • first thing to do if the macbook is open: press Mute Key, and pick it up and leave with your new macbook. too bad for the real owner! lol

  • the mute key thing doesn't work

  • better yet how do i let it use isight because i cant find out how to change that

  • how do i access the picture it took

  • hahaha if u allreadt have an apple remote you can disable the alarm :)

  • not if you pair your remote to your macbook that is.

  • thankyou, thats helpful imformation. how do u pair it ?

  • Comment removed

  • if someone takes your remote then you'll still get your macbook stolen

  • does this work then the macbook is closed???

  • step 1 - Get a Macbook closed

step 2 - Run faraway (10 miles min)

step 3 - Use the Macbook XD

  • when i do it with mine, it wont activate it with the remote..help

  • Make sure you press and hold the menu button. Also maybe it needs to have the program on. Up at the top right hand corner of your screen check if the circle with the lock symbol in it is there.

  • good thing to have in family. But nor real life. In real life someone would just take the battery out. Or being saying WTF?!

  • well yes but still it is pretty cool

  • IMPRESIONANTE XDD!!lol

  • Mines decided not to take a picture when the alarm goes off.. does anyone know how to fix this? :(

  • how do you off it when the alarm goes off?

  • No, you can set up a key combination for it too.

  • the remote comes in the box ordered online or not. I bought mine in store and it had a remote in the sealed box.

  • i got my mines from my college and they dont give us remotes.....its a security thing.

  • Haha I Have This Its Well Gd

  • i thought it came for free because you order it online

  • they only come with the online ordered macbooks

  • this is crazy.

  • um, my remote works with all macbooks in our house...

so... what if a burglar got himself a remote?

    stupid in my eyes.

    Please respond.

  • u can go to system preferences and then security and then general. You can pair your remote to your computer. That way the laptop will only respond to that one remote for the iAlertU

  • voila. Smart :D

  • ialertu does not work by the isight camera. the sms hardware in the macbook triggers the alert

  • I AM MAD MY MAC DID NOT COME WITH A REMOTE. ( a white macbook)

  • it should...

  • apple remotes dont come with MACS anymore but there only like 20.00

  • Yes they do. I just ordered my mac online from the apple store and they DO in fact come with remote.

  • iAlertU works in a Macbook for the iSight!

Look, when he activate iAlertU the iSight turned on.

And when he close the iAlertU the iSight turned off.

    :)

  • iSight u mean the camera?

well, why isn't it going off when u just move urself in front of it, but it does when u shake the thing?

  • i thought this only worked on macbook pros cus they had a motion sensor or somthing like they use for smackbook so i dont understand how this works

  • You don't need to understand how it works to use it.

  • ok thanks for the explanation. NOT

  • MACBOOKS HAVE MOTION SENSORS TOO!!

  • The regular MacBooks have a sudden motion sensor too.

  • where i can get it?

  • You can get a demo at iAlertU(.)com

  • they should make an option so like if you have a regular computer and you leave your MacBook somewhere like work or something it will send it to your regular computer and show you a pic of who tried to steal it lol

  • It does send you an email with a picture (through the built in camera) of who messed with your mac, and sends it to your email account =D

  • oh that kewl

  • they should make an option so like if you have a regular computer and you leave your MacBook somewhere like work or something it will send it to your regular computer and show you a pic of who tried to steal it lol

  • im a noob, and am wondering if the ialertu gets rid/disables the front row feature?

  • No - you press the button to open front row, ialertyou is activated by holding the button

  • Nice . does it work on iMac?

  • Well, how does a thief runaway with an imac hooked up to the outlet? and if its not hooked up to the outlet/power source...how does it have power to run iAlertU?

  • i guess u only get protection from people who want to touch ur desktop.

  • hah yeah. Epic fail of logic, poor kid.

  • Ye u doo , i tried i a week ago . is not as effective as on macbook!

  • It only works on notebooks, sorry:(

  • would someowne come in your house and try to jack ur imac?

  • lol

  • I'm guessing the idea is is that say your out at your local Starbucks, you get up to get some more java and you simply lock up your MacBook as you get up. Soon enough a thief tries to take it and the alarm goes off in public. How would the thief be able to stop it from beeping? Simple concept, hey it's free might as well use it.

  • you dickhead you wrote the exact same comment on another video. Fuck You

  • It will alarm if you close the macbook also. The only way to stop the alarm is via the remote. Also, you can't arm it without the remote. The macbook motion sensors that detect when the notebook is dropped or detects any sudden motion is what is being used. You can also set the alert for keyboard strokes too. Its freeware too.

  • Tonycologne, even if you close your mac, the alarm will still go off. I tried it just awhile ago.

  • oh i want the macbook!

  • Just a little notice to everybody thinking about getting it, it all works, EXCEPT the remote activation.

Since the latest update, especially on Leopard, the apple remote no longer activates it.

Everything else is perfect, the screen flashes, the volume is full and uses the internal speakers, the iSight takes a nice little photo of the perpetrator, and the only way to disable it is nicely inconspicuous.

  • You can still activate it with the remote by pressing and holding the menu button.

  • That's just plain awesomeness. I wish i had a Macbook...

  • im gonna steal one! hahahaha jk..

  • this is soooooo cool! i saw somebody take it(the macbook)once when i was on the train. everybody looked at him and sead that is was a mistake!!!! when the owner returned from whatever he was doing he just smilled.

    the stupid moron

  • This is the coolest thing ever.

  • does this come with the mac, or do i have to download it???

  • u need to download

  • YES!!

I want one. Although the photo will probably be of one of my cats walking across the keyboard!!

  • im gettin a free macbook pro and i am definatly gonna get that with all the theft at my school! lol

  • how???

  • see the vid on my page- cant post the link cause sum1 may spam it....

  • definitely getting that for my new macbook lol

  • hahaha so incredibly unnecessary. I have to get it for my new macbook :P

  • this one is really good

  • How does it know when its getting moved? also does it sett off the alarm when someone touches the keys or mouse?

  • It uses the built in Sudden Motion Sensors to detect movement. The sudden motion sensors are used to stop the hard drive in the event that the laptop is dropped, to prevent damage. They can also be utilized for things like this.

  • Just so you know, the alarm goes off when the computer is moved, when a key is pressed, the trackpad touched or clicked, the power cord being unplugged or the screen closed.

  • where do i get iAlertU

  • macupdate dot com/info.php/id/21282
