  • Just a little educational tidbit for you "Fire buffs", you can USE a LADDER on a BRUSH FIRE as a command post, so that the acting chief can get an aerial view of the fire without the need of calling in a Helicopter.

  • Just give up sunsetreptiles, they were right

  • what do you need a ladder on a brush fire for? they are utterly useless. You CAN put a brush fire out with out using any water. we did it with a 70 acre fire, and not a drop of water.

  • @Iceman2692 Manpower....

  • you know just because your a city fireman doesnt mean you dont know how to fight brush fires. were i leave and im in the city we are trained to be brush and city firefighters. And brush fires and house fires are different but you do need the help of city firefighters everybody even the police men and women help so dont say they don't. and i know since i live where most the fires are anyways in southern cali.

  • im glad, they did what they were told. but sending a latter truck to a brush fire is stupid. youguys say man power well a pump truck has the same amount of people

  • ladder is way to big and just gets in the way. they dont have to right stuff to fight a brush fire, all it has that well work is man power

  • @sunsetreptiles after shooting this vid I went to the scene, all rigs were parked and positioned where they were told, I took several pics of that scene, They did a GREAT JOB!!!!

  • ladder trucks caring just has much guys as a pumper does.

  • doesnt matter where the fire is, they dont know shit about brush fire. They cant fight a brush fire like they fight a house or a tall building. you cant just put water on it and think it well go out. theres alot more to it.

  • I work for cal fire.

  • when im at a brush fire i don't want city fire fighters there. all they do is get in the way. and there fire trucks. I always tell the city fires fighters to move there trucks.

  • The brush fire was in the city.....

  • r u on like a brush crew?? cuz thats the path im looking to take, when we respond to a brush, we take our brush, nd our engine stands by at the nearest road, but i know we make the inatial attack untill DCNR takes over

  • @sunsetreptiles First of all its pronounced "Their fire trucks", Their implies ownership, there implies a location. its also pronounced "Firefighters" not "fires fighters". Now that we got that out of the way let me say we are all just firefighters, we put our lives on the line 20 times a day when we get a call for service regardless if you are from an urban area or a rural one. As a so called "City" firefighter i would like to point out i have just as much knowledge on a brush as i do a tower.

  • ladder trucks don't really do much at a brush fire they just get in the way.

  • Manpower.

  • YUP!!!!!!

  • aerial.

  • And If the city doesn;t have a brush truck? And from the looks of that large roll up door, the ladder is a quint?

  • over here we got a brush truck and damn dat brush must have been huge and have ppl stuck in der in order 4 dat ladder ahahahaha

  • where do u work?

  • ok...i'd love to see that tower in the a field fighting the brush fire... such a diference between city and county, here we respond in a brush truck and bring our 4 weelers lol

  • haha some 1 comp round here even has 6by6 on a trialer complete w/ red lights and sirens...... u kno who im talkin bout

  • ha...yeah but they dont count lol

  • I agree with you I have never seen a tower ladder respond to a brush fire until this.

  • HAVE YOU ALL EVER HEARD OF EXTRA MANPOWER, they didn' need the tower they needed the FFs on the Tower to help!!!!!!!!

  • dont you guys have a van?

  • i think its more odd for me seeing the tower rather then a brush unit. my point was its wierd how different some depts respond to calls.

  • It is indeed odd to see a Tower responding to a brush fire call, but Kirky has a VERY valid point. Besides if nightfall were to come soon you may need the extra floodlights.

  • yeah..i'm from the country..we dont have a tower, we respond to brush fires with a brush truck and tanker...then our rescue for the extra crew and lights.

  • well the reason they responded the tower is yes man power and was spreading and first unit in on the attack had the fire crowning over their heads

  • i love how the Q on the engine and the truck are in the same pitch when the engine first passes.

  • i want to put a Q on my cavalier lol

  • hahahaha

  • It could be done. You need at least a 250 amp alternator, heavy-duty cables, and at least 2 batteries. But it CAN be done.

  • that wail gave me goosebumps at some of the high places.

  • That's a nice looking Tower.

  • Definitely a weak Q on that engine. Either a cable is bad, or the alternator is starting to weaken.

  • Thaks Seagrave fan. I would've thought that, but I thought 1st it was the good ol' LACoFD Sirens they used to run on the Crowns! LMAO

  • It was Auburn, Maine

  • Hey was this from Auburn, MA? The big brush fire with the mutual aid task force from all around the county and the state police helicopters, if so I WAS THERE!

  • Sounds more like a weak Q.

  • Wow, a Tower Company responding to a brush fire?

  • It was a full responce all around, it was a good size...

  • good size my ass it was crowning over there heads

  • Sounds like the ol' LAFD siren they ran on the Crowns and early Seagraves

  • is that the B&M suoerchief siren on the engine? I know its a federal on the tower

  • Not sure
