I never get the "color change in the speed of light" thing during the "Change!!!" sequence but I guess it's shifting pieces of microscopic layers that change the colors but who knows, it depends on the anime magic the animators use.

I don't like how the ship combine. Transforming into the finished robot part before merging isn't very dramatic.

I remember seeing a modern Getta version where the 3 ships violently slams into each while combining. That's awesome! That's probably how 50 ton machines should behave like when colliding into each other.

Shin Getter Robo was a cool robot, but I hated the Shin Getter team. They were just boring. Thank god the Getter G team piloted this Getter in the ending.

I'm pretty sure you can pick up Getter, and Getter G at various anime torrent sites. Neo Getter vs Shin Getter Popped up on torrent reactor recently. New Getter like Getter Robo Go is a spin off alternate universe. Though Getter Robo Go is suppsoed to be an alternate universe, it's the cannon start for Neo Getter, which is fallowed by Shin Getter. So Getter Robo Go is standard canon. I dunno if anything has been done with it in english.

As for Shin Getter it's vintage 1998, and was dubbed by ADV films in 2001. New Getter is Vintage 2004, and was dubbed by Geneon in July of this year 2006.

Getter Robo came first, fallowed by Getter G, Then Neo Getter, then Shin Getter. The Black Getter didn't come till later, after shin getter was built. The latest is New Getter.

Yeah. The Getter machines are covered with shifting plates of armor . The internals change while the plates shift to a new shape. (Shown in detail when Ryoma changes Old Getter 1, and when Getter G is hit with Stoner Sunshine.)

The color shifting is also part of it (like how Gundams shift color in Gundam Seed.) Seen when Shin Getter 2 fully forms.

It's like armored cloth.

@GamiCross You're right about the Getters, but wrong about CE Gundams. The Gundams from SEED have pahse shift armor which actually vibrates on the atomic level. How the voltage is setup there defines how the armor reacts to physical things hitting it. That includes photons (light particles) which is why they change color.
