I can use the bow better than he can, and i've been using it for two weeks practicing for totaly 3 hours or so, and his fingering is a bit of, this does not deserve being called advanced.
You're never supposed to use the third finger for a note until you get to the upper register because it strains the wrist. Learned that from Ben Wolfe himself.
The only fortunate thing is that with a wrist position like that, this guy will get carpal tunnel before he can subject anyone else to his "expert" advice.
extremly wrong. the basics and the feel are the most important but they have to improve as time passes and more...there are alot of bow tehniques and "tricks" for the left hand that must be learned and practiced to perfect. im sayin' all this if u wanna be a pro:)
So who exactly certifies these guys as experts anyway? His left hand fingering and wrist position will give you serious problems if you learn that way.
We all have a different spot that is comfortable.......I can't say for sure cause I haven't touched an upright yet!I'm on the hunt though. If I score maybe you can give a cat some pointers!!
Does anyone know the requirements to become an Expert Village "educator?" What are this guy's credentials? Where is Expert Village finding these people? So much of what this guy is demonstrating is simply wrong. If I were reliant on Expert Village as my sole instructor, I would have to spend years reteaching myself, with an actual competent teacher, to unlearn their infinitely bad advice.
Do you know the definition of the word "charlatan"?
Probably not, but if you looked it up in a dictionary, you would see the 'Expert Village' logo beside these words: "a person who pretends to more knowledge or skill than he or she possesses; a quack."
I have seen nothing in the content of any Expert Village submissions on Youtube that evinces any degree of "expertise." Please put a stop to the misinformation. People are trusting you to provide them with accurate content.
He doesn't even play the scale in tune. I have nothing against the guy, he just should not of gotten that gig. he just needs to shed more, and get down to the basics. his video on pizz playing is not very good either.
Who knows if this guy knows how to play. First thing he should be teaching is how to arco the instrument-how to hold the bass and how to hold and manuveur the bow -not to mention the two types of bows!
