  • Type R. So, Data is made by Honda and has a VTEC positronic brain?

  • "Typer R?! So he's a pirate?" *drum snare*

  • picard looks like he just wants to make out with the head!!!!!

  • TYPE AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you *predict* how long this *has been* in the cabin... and then divide by zero please?

  • @leejacob120 Thats undefined

  • I guess Lor really was put together from salvaged parts. I mean a type L phase discriminator vs a type R phase discriminator? Thats like...M,N,O,P,Q...5 versions better!

  • Mine is a tupe o.

  • VTEC!!!!!

  • Everything Picard says should be taken seriously or he'll facepalm you!

  • "Type R?"

    "Yes Captain."

"Don't yes captain me, WTF is type R? What does that mean and how is it different?"

  • Ok, this is going in my new Youtube poop..

  • TYPE R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????

  • Whoa. Shit's gonna get real when Data hits VTEC.

  • Type R Android with headers + cam will blow away any starship bro!

  • Type R??????

  • It must really suck when Data needs to refuel during shore-leave and the starbase is out of Type-R diesel.

  • Actually - I just realised type L and type R - does that mean left and right? The Soong androids exhibit handedness... interesting. :)

  • Data is left handed though.

  • Really??

Maybe it's only to do with the internal mechanisms and how they are set out - like the organs in a human body... there are incidences of people having reversed organs. I.e. heart on the right, liver on the left etc.

  • Yeah Data is the only character consistantly shown to be left handed on Trek. Other characters are shown to alternate phaser and tricoder use between their hands but Data throughout the series always shows a preference for using his left.

He was seen doing two paintings at the same time on at least one occasion though and had to use his right to use the fiddle when playing the violin.

I wonder if there's a video showing left handedness on Trek?

  • Yes a clever thought! I believe you R right!

  • teehee "is this yours?"

    which ep/movie is this from?

  • Time's Arrow (Part 1), the finale of season 5.

  • @Keevon A good finale at that. Everyone thought Data was dead and we even got to see a little bit of Guinen's past.

  • lol!!! Like he was expecting S.

  • Heheh yes, I've always laughed at that bit. :)

  • rty

  • a good vid

  • type R??! ...yes sir.

  • Yeah, I love how Picard says "Type R!?" like he knows what the hell he's talking about.

    Funny clip.

  • LOL. "type R, that changes everything!"

  • @captainunload It is actually. It's the old adage about left-handed being evil and right-handed being good.

  • @andrewkilroyable

So Type L represents Left Handed and R Right handed?

  • @captainunload Well presumably it's just symbolic for left handed and right handed. It dates back to roman times because left in latin was sinister. Furthermore the english word for left comes from the old english word meaning useless or weak. So yeah, Humanity has always historically had something against left-handed people.

  • @andrewkilroyable Your analysis is spot on!
