question that nowhere is being answered......how do you start it? is it like an automatic where you just press the acceleration pedal and go or is there so sort of buildup and gear required?
@andrewgsupbrah To start a e92 M3 DCT you simply put your foot down on the brake and push the Start/Stop button. Then you move the gear leaver to the right once for manual, and twice for automatic.
I was trying to decide if I should get the M3 or a GTR am starting to lean towards the M3 because I believe it's more fun to drive, and I like to go sideways here and there. I'll still have to test drive both before making a decision. I also think the M3 sounds better stock compared to the GTR. I don't want to pay $70K and still have to install custom exhausts.
@resellworld Thanks for the advice, I now have my eyes inbetween the M3, M5 and M6. I just test drove a M6 yesterday, and I was really digging that car. I'm about 2 weeks away from pulling the trigger on something.
Currently, between the M5 and the M3 I think that the M3 looks better/cooler, while the M5 has more power, obviously.
BUT, the new M5 makes it hard to choose between the 2 again....its a never ending loop of switching back and forth because they are both awesome in their own ways
Manual now a-days isn't just your standard stick gearbox. Although I prefer that. The paddle shifts on the new series cars means less time for gear change, quicker response, and it gives you the automatic flawlessness of a change. No more grinding, thus fucking your clutch, gears, or linkage up anymore.
I've owned 4 BMWs so far (and I'm young), and I'm leaving next weekend to pickup my new E92 M3 in Munich. I love their cars to death, but they aren't the best in any of those categories. Maybe the best combination thereof, but not individually. ///M power!

Yes, you can either put it in one of the 5 preset driving modes (from comfort to sport) or use the paddle behind the steering to control the shift points manually.

No, those are BMW's numbers, in car magazine tests, they've gotten 4.1 for both the sedan and coupe, and the convo will prob get around 4.7, no mag has tested it yet.
How is the automatic with the new M-DCT? I have an E46 M3 with SMG but putting it in automatic is useless. You'll get really dizzy with it. Is the new one better ???
every time i watch a video of the bmw m3 i get more intrigued and in love with the car.

I have an e92 with dct and it drives like shit in auto from the 5 seconds I've experienced haha
As the driver you can control how smooth the shifts are by practice

I think it is 0 to 100km/h for the convertible is 5.1sec,for the sedan it is 4.7sec,and for the coupe it is 4.6sec

I did have SMGII and M-DCT is nothing like it...extremely quicker, faster, smoother and all out way better
