  • Really smooth gear changes, very nice!

  • OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FANTASTISCH!! Wat een pracht film en gereden zoals het hoort, vol gas en gaaaaaaann!!!

  • BTW - I just read a trap speed of 177 mph for this car, on The Mulsanne, back in The Day... So my guesstimate was pretty close.. Tipo 61's did about the same. That is 1 mph faster than the trap speed for the 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera Six "Batmobile" there... I never saw a speed for the 1967 906 "LH" long tail.. The wider tires of 1967 created more drag. Not something this Dino had to worry about.. The Dino and the 906 are amazingly similar in profiles... Take a look, sometime... J.C.

  • My GOD!! It's good to do this when it's 10F out.....

Nice to see someone who is not tippy toeing around in a car they don't know on a course they don't know.....

Be nice to the the 246 S up against a Tipo 61....

    Depending on the track..

    Forza FERRARI

  • beautiful vid man.

  • Man this is hard work. Great!

  • Fantastic to watch......just a pity its on the emasculated circuit that Le Mans has become.......for pity's sake, chicanes on Mulsanne!

  • Thank you for posting this AWESOME video. It's heartening to see Ferrari race cars being used correctly! :-)

  • Awesome sound...

  • This car has the 2.4 liter V-6 and a 5 speed transaxle for the deDion rear suspension.

    I've driven a 1956 Maserati 200SI/ 250S (#2405) with a 5 speed crash box and a solid axle. 1959 250S engine ex -Centro-Sud Cooper F1 engine...older Maserati box... 243 hp. 143 mph at 7350 rpm.

This FERRARI 246 S would blow it's doors off,

    everywhere....

  • I love the roar off of it!

  • Is maybe this a 5-gear 246 Ferrari? If 'm not wrong, I heard 5 gears, not 4... can anyone tell me something about it? Anyway, a real good video, the engine sound is really awesome!!

  • MANY THANKS LENJIA

    MIL GRACIAS LENJIA

  • top end for these cars were about 190-6mph maybe tuned for a race back in those days, maybe just a few digits over the 200 mark. i know the maserati birdcage flat out does 197mph and that was around this period. this ferrari had a v12 with 6 48mm webbers

  • what was the topspeed?

  • I can't even put into words how good that sound was. Good to see it driven.

  • Fantastic! It's great to see that not all Ferrari's are garage queens. They were built to be driven!

  • WOW, sorry about that...lol...lol...lol...I ment to give you a plus! :-)

  • Sorry coach, but either this guy can drive or everyone else on the track REALLY sucks.

Or maybe it was the pacelap. ;)

  • It's a classic race. Not everyone is out to dent their million-dollar racecars for a show. There's no sanctioning body out there giving anyone cash for wins...

  • damn you go man awsome

    put me in your will?

  • Never put your foot on the gas in a corner unless you KNOW you're not going to take it off again.

  • You know Scheiss about driving powerful skinny tired cars.

    J.C.

  • I do pretty good out there. Thirty years of driving classic racecars has taught me a few things. You can eat your scheiss.

  • Hey coach, If you are going to quote Jackie Stewart please us " ".

  • That's the oldest one in the book. I think I'd have to quote Fangio on that one...

  • Priceless!!

  • This is guy is flat out raping this Ferrari...I love it!

  • how a Ferrari should be driven, not by all these rich yuppies with no sense.

  • Exactly ;)

  • beautiful video noce sound I love le mans thank you for sharing the vid xD

  • thankyou for sharing, i have daydreamed about early ferrari sportscars since i was a kid, i never thought ild see such an amazing and rare car being driven how it was ment to be, just beautiful! and i think he passed a daytona near the end forza ferrari!

  • you're right i didn't think so hard at the time thanks

  • That's OK. I'm 60 years old and grew up with these cars from 1958 on.... Endurance racing was a large part of my life, until 1973.

    J.C.

  • OMG What a sexy sound!!!!!!

  • its a lola in front of him

  • I don't think so, at that time / era, the only Lola was a 1100cc Climax powered car, which competed with Lotus 11's.... you are no doubt talking about the Lister-Jag..... which the 246 S blows by.... on HANDLING..... and power to weight.

    J.C.

  • Fantastic video, thanks for sharing.

  • A million thanks!

  • Very nice!

  • I must again thank you for putting this 256 S lap on YouTube.

The car and driver are magnificent, as were the mechanics, as the cars carbs are in perfect tune, might as well be F.I. !!

I had the good luck to get to help tune an aging 250LM, outside of the town of Sebring, with my cousin, back in

"The Day" on the dint of us having tuned Alfa's and FIAT's with Webers....

    SWEET V-6 there!! HOT!!

I bet this car would do well within the 1962 -1965 age group...

    jcarroll330P4@

  • It is really a fantastic car, isn't it.

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • This is Petrol-head porn! Forget F1, this sound is amazing

  • how fast was he going down mullsane

  • 170 mph, give or take about 5......

    J.C.

  • Does he pass Eike's Lister in the beginning of the clip?

    That's a beefy Jag 6 in there!

  • I BELIEVE that's is indeed a Lister-Jaguar that the 246 S passes up near the old Tetre Rouge area of the track, early on. There IS a Blue and Yellow Lister-Bristol he passes with even more aclarity, on the first stage of the Mulsanne, IF memory serves. I think only 3 Lister-Bristols were ever laid down. I've seen one at our Chicago Auto Show, some years ago....not a powerfull car, but LIGHT! Just the thing for The Targa Florio / The Ring. This 246 S must have been WILD at same!!

    jcarroll330P4@

  • The 1960 246 S had a slightly detuned Ferrari F-1 2.4 litre "Dino" V-6. Published hp numbers vary.

The 1962 246 SP was first rear engined Ferrari sports racer, which was moderately successfull, evolving into the World Beating, Le Mans winning 1963 250P with the 3.0 litre

V-12 and a revamping of the bodywork/aero package.

    The 1965 Dino166 S sports prototype was a new car, presaging '66 330 P3's and '67 330 P4's bodywork,

By 1968, this car had grown back to 2.4 liters.

    jcarroll330P4@

  • wasn't this the in origin F1 engine?

  • Yes, 1958-1960 seasons. Hawthorne was World Champion for Ferrari in 1958, by one point over Moss. The point was gained by having a fastest lap in one of the races. The 1958 car had a deDion tube rear supension, transition from drum brakes to disks also took place in this time frame. 1959 and 1960 cars had an early form of IRS. Car could under and oversteer in the same corner! Rear engined Cooper-Climax 2.5 liter 4's dominated last two seasons, with Jack Brabham at the wheel.

    jcarroll330P4@

  • There may be faster cars around the Sarthe Circuit, but few are as visceral in their excitement and shear SOUND!!

    jcarroll330P4@

  • one day, i'll be the king of le'mans

  • Lemans is an easy to learn road course, even with the Porsche GoKart course and the bloody CHICANES which have emasculated the Mulsanne.....made the place safe for "pay for drive" people of less than stellar talent....

Drive the Neurburgring.....learn it well, then you can be King of all the road racers....Buy a dp1 from D.P. and you might even break Stephan Bellof's 6:15 lap record there....which has stood since 1982...his Memorial....

    LUCK!

    jcarroll330P4@

  • Holy crap! Great to see the beast is being used to the max. Get out of the way.

    Cheers
