  • why did he have to let him go... :( i would die if i had to do that

  • MARVELOUS!! love this movie so much!

horses are really adorable creature :)

  • @MrLantern: Any horse can defeat another horse in an endurance race or any type of race not matter what kind of horse it is. True and undeniable.

  • I wonder how they made the scene with those hundreds of horses.

  • @nikieg96 They made this by photograph real wild mustangs, probably from a helicopter. But those are real wild mustangs. Watch the info before the end credits.

  • The little black kid laughing was adorable! His laugh is soooo contagious.

  • i cried :,)

  • seen tonight, magnificent film, I'll love this film

  • I was so scared he was going to shoot Hidaglo, but when he stood up, I got tears in m eyes

  • This movie should have gotten more acclaim than it did. Marvelous movie.

  • @FrannyRenee I think movies like Hidalgo, Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron and Dances with the wolves make us uncomfortable because it reminds us of the genocide of the Native Americans. So people tend to avoid those kind of movies because they don't know what to do with what comes up. Sad. Instead of building bridges for understanding, we run away from it.

  • @Merlinreturns so true. thanks for reminding :)

  • Beautiful ending!

But he still have his horseshoes on :P

  • @DianXX1 They'll fall off, lol. In about 2 months since you have to change them every 6-8 weeks or they'll fall off. xD

  • What is the year of the movie?

  • Please, if you have a minute or two have a look at your wonderful Kirk Douglas involved with an Australian legend a few years back. Amazing horsemanship involved and you can link up with other scenes. The Man From Snowy River-Banjo's Poem on Youtube. You may see a very young Superhero actor also and a young Jack Thompson. They used ridgee-didge Australian Mountain Men and there horses. Very moving and amazing horse footage doing extraordinary things. Please enjoy. Annie

  • @Anneat

Look at the petervee60 version as it's taken from the movie. A story of a strong and weedy horse of mountain pride. Kirk Douglas in the movie as Harrison was strong. The Australian wild brumby like your mustang is inspiring. Australians relate dearly to this legend. Annie

  • starting at 5:15

FRANK: Is it true that the Chief named Eagle Horn has returned to the reservation?

NATIVE MAN: He has taken the journey. But he knew you won, Far Rider, in the faraway sand.

FRANK: Good. Will you help me with something?

  • awsome film one of the best. :D

  • @clayhorse1 Hi, please have a quick look at your wonderful Kirk Douglas as Harrison in The Man from Snowy River. Banjo's Poem an Australian Movie. by petervee60. Some amazing riding and extraordinary horses. Enjoy.

    Annie Australia

  • i cried..

  • OMG it's so pro-american.... not my style of movie at aaaaalllllll!!!!!

  • @CheyenneSunshine1 then why did you look it up?

  • @CheyenneSunshine1 or better yet, why did you watch it?

  • @wildwildwest1 I looked it up because I have a big passion for horses, but this movie really disappoint me... I don't know really why I watched it... Because I was already so far in the movie, waiting for something more interesting to happen... I don't know... Beautiful horses in the movie, that is a fact...

  • @CheyenneSunshine1 it's an amazing film! you have no taste.

  • @CheyenneSunshine1 ah, so you're anti-american. nice knowing you, racist.

  • @loggats ??? Wow people are called a racist very quickly these days.... If I say this is so pro, does it mean that I'm anti? No, I don't think so... And taste is different for everybody, so... What I say is my opinion so respect it. Don't get so angry sweetheart. It's just a movie... You want to be fighting for a movie?

  • Fantastic movie. Thank you. I've always meant to see it. My parents were in town and reminded me of this, their favorite movie. Gotta love youtube, and CrescentMoonRanch!

  • i love Omar Sharif

  • that little black kid is sooooo cute!!

  • thanks for uploading

  • This is really a GREAT movie. Thanks for the upload.

  • the= sight of the sheik when he get the colt from frank!! awersome, and when horses ran out

  • the= sight of the sheik when he get the colt fro frank!! awersome

  • e\Everything Frank worked for is being flushed down the drain by fat cats who only care about money. He'd probably cry to see what theve turned our wild horses into. Caged animals. Shame on them.

I can't wait until I'm old enough to actually do something about this mess.

  • <3

  • I don't think I could have let Hidalgo go :'(

It would have been a great ending if he'd turned around been all "nah man, I'm staying with chu, that's where all the action is!"

  • You've really gotta wonder how much (if any) of this movie really was true. I mean, I know Frank Hopkins and Hidalgo were real, and that they did win many races, but I just find in incredibly hard to believe that any horse bred in North America could win a 3000 mile race across the Arabian Desert; I mean come on.

  • @fanghur The mustangs are no ordinary North American horse breed. They are the direct descendants of Spanish horses brough by Spanish Conquitadores 500 years ago. They evolved and adapted to thrive in the prairies. They have greater endurance and stamina than other North American horse breeds. There are two types of mustangs: Spanish Mustangs and the BLM Mustangs. Spanish Mustangs are considered unmixed descendants of Spanish horses and BLM mustangs are descended from various horse breeds.

  • @fanghur I think that Frank Hopkin's story of taking part in an edurance horserace in the Arabian Desert may not be true. He claimed that the Arabs purchased Hidalgo and bred him to Arabian mares but that is untrue. The Arabs had always kept the pedigree of their horses pure and eventhough Hidalgo may had won the race, it was of unknown pedigree and would not let it mate with their mares. But the story highlights the quality of the mustangs and no other North American horses can outclass them.

  • @MrLantean And I think I read somewhere that this Ocean of Fire race doesn't exist either.

  • @zz13x Although his story may be untrue, Frank Hopkins had been an activist for the preservation of the mustangs. Mustangs today are primarily descend from various breeds mixed with original Spanish horses. Some isolated herds with purer Spanish strains are found and are relocated to better environment where their unique genetic markers are preserved.

  • ever sence this movie came out all the uther horse ones after sucked... cant seem to get into the uthers. glad i got to see it when it was on the big screen. will never get tired of Hidalgo.

  • hmm... he let his horse go but he still had shoes on.. would they just fall off eventually??

  • That was the best ending ever. I knew he was going to let Hidalgo go. Damn, that was so awesome

  • brilliant on so many levels

    thanks for sharing

  • Great film here! Thanks for uploading it...I hope you keep it uploaded, as I made a playlist on my channel, mirroring your uploads of it. Peace, Love & much Respect.

  • beautiful :')

  • I wiil spend the intire weekend dreaming about this. Ah, so beautifullT-T

  • the mustang is the purest breed of horse not of blood but because they are the true wild horse

    love this movie

  • @Carenbell12 Actually the true wild horse are Przewalski's Horse in Mongolia. The mustangs are actually feral horses descended from domesticated horses that are released into the wild. There are 2 types of mustangs: BLM mustangs and Spanish Mustangs. BLM mustangs are descended from various horse breeds brought by American settlers and the Spanish Mustangs are unmixed descendants of horses introduced by the Spaniards.

  • @Carenbell12 me toooo:D

  • What does he say @ the end? It's like there bonding thing he's like "Let her budge" or is it "Later bud"

  • @HalieC96 He says "Let 'er Buck". It's like a fancy way to get Hildago to let loose and run faster. XD Took me a while to figure it out, myself.

  • beatifull

  • Viggo is my favortie actor and the story is so beautiful T-T

    best movie i ever see ! T-T

  • i'm glad he bought them and let them free.. they deserve to forever be free

  • When he let Hidalgo go, I'll be honest, I cried. :}

  • @Mergirl97 me to...me to...its just...oh man im so happy!!!!

  • @Mergirl97 We all did :)

  • why did the horse look back at him at 7:31

  • @fireking9934 because they'd bonded and the horse was saying goodbye to his friend.

  • @cherrysweetable hahaha good imagination!!!!!

  • by the way where are ya from?? us, but which part??

  • @cherrysweetable now you gave the ending a special touch, you changed it to look like a classic movie from the sixties with this symphony.... actually i like it!!!! original!!!!

  • @cherrysweetable well i think maybe you''r right, well i live in holland but i am from spain..and in my country these movies are more famous..but in holland, like you said, no!!!!! but what the heck, if somebody doesnt check that kind of movies and doesnt want to know this culture, well i guess then he is losing something very interesting in his life...and offcourse the frech and german bastards are not that superior as they think..so the hell with them!!!!!!!!

  • it surprises me, why such a great and amazing movie isnt famous in europe...damn shame!!!!

  • I cried.. T_T

  • WHY?! YOU LET THE HORSE GO?! if i were you i'll keep it tilll i die..

  • this is such a touching movie

  • free animals = makes me happy :0D

  • @miriam7779 though you have to admit thats a little many to be releashing into the wild. dont get me wrong i love wild animals to but... -

  • I cried when he freed the mustangs and Hildago. It is an emotional ending.

  • at the part where Frank releases Hidalgo, my grandmother made a comment that i will remember through out my entire life everytime i ever think of wild horses or mustangs. "Until Hidalgo gets killed by another stud" LOL

  • What a sad and happy ending!

  • wow was that a true story!! :O i never knew that <3 such a good film even better now that i no it was a true story :)

  • @kwlhorses12345 Actually, that's debatable. Frank Hopkins himself claimed that it was, but there wasn't much proof. Still, a good movie.

  • @kwlhorses12345 most historians believe frank was full of it and none of this ever happened. besides all records of him say he would have been 5 years old in 1890 haha looks a little older then that to me. there is also no records of him ever going to Arabia or being half Indian

  • The subtitles in an overview:

    Frank: How's chief eaglehorn?

Indian: He passed away... but we know this is what he wanted. He had faith in the painted stallion.

    Frank: They're free now..

That is all I can remember from the subtitled version, they're not exact, sorry, but they're close.

  • Thx for the upload, CMR :)
