  • LOl i really feel for you man....!!

  • Man those publishers fucking suck. You would think that in this day of powerful computers and software, that these fucking idiot publishers would quit printing books filled with errors.

  • hahahaha nice edition upsidedown

  • if you kept this book you could sell it after sometime with a much much much better price...

  • THat could be worth a lot because it is a factory mess-up .

  • hi i have kind of the same problem with this book.

i bought it a few days ago and got the book.

    first impression: Amazing!

but i found out the edges were not gold! that frustrated me a little because I spent lots of money on it 70 euros -_-.

I also espected a little more from the hardcover quality LOL.

  • hey man i am thinking of getting one of these for my b day I would just like to know is that the firt or secont print and is it the uk or us version =-) cuz they are all very differnt

  • This was the American version published by Houghton Mifflin. I don't know the printing, so can't help you there. It is a beautiful book and has a very nice feel to the cover, though for sentimental reasons I still prefer the old red book.

  • @wmrandth

Does this book come shrinkwrapped when new?

I bought the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition from AMAZON UK (by HarperCollins, not Houghton Miffin) and the books came UNWRAPPED twice, even though they are definitely supposed to be wrapped.

  • @th3warr1or I bought it in the store here in the US, and yes, it was clear wrapped. I only noticed it the backwards printing when I got home and unwrapped it.

  • Everyone thinks this a tragedy. I think not. Misbound books are rare and in time become quite valuable.

    I hope you kept it.

  • LOL!

  • wow. thats wierd you may have been able to sell it on ebay 4 a lot of money there not alot of those lol but that kinda suks ya go out and buy it and return with an up- side-down copy

  • I got mine off the internet. Barnes and Nobel Booksellers website. I got it for half price, I got a coupon for anything on the site, it's cheaper on the internet, and I had a membership to B&N, it was bound correctly.

  • aww...that sucks, but atleast you got a new one. i just ordered this today and tryed to search youtube for some "unboxing" or "tour" of it, but sadly i didnt find any :( i found this though so i got to see how it looked other than the amazon pictures :) just wondering, would you mind posting a quick "tour" of the book?:) showing the box and the map and stuf? :D (u dont have to though)

  • that sucks man, i was going to buy the same edition off amazon..i might just get a trilogy of them now, i hope you get refunded

  • Yes, I am going to get a new one.

  • This is a real tragedy. Will you get a new set?

  • Yep, I returned it and got another correct version from another store that had it. They were pretty good about it, I must say.

  • YOU DIDN'T KEEP IT?!

    Duuuude. Bad choice, buck-o.

  • @wmrandth You should have kept the misprint copy. They are very very rare and worth alot of money. Bad choice. I have the 50th anniversary edition too. Payed $90 dollars a few years ago at barnes and noble.
