(1) This is my personal opinion only. If Sami Yusuf produces songs which are of good content and visual substance and you listen with the intention of bringing yourself closer to Allah (swt) then yes. Just ensure, as with all things that are not haram, that you are proportionate in your listening and it does not interfere with your obligations (fara'id).
(2) it is a misconception that a person can tame their lower self (nafs-e-Ammara) in such a way that they move from being in a bad position to suddenly becoming the most righteous person in the world. Some things in life are progressive and require a long and determined journey. If someone listens to filthy music then it can only be good if they discard that music for music which reminds them of Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw).
(3) From listening to Sami Yusuf an individual might increase their interest in the beautiful religion of Islam and then listen to Nasheeds/Qasa'id and then progress further upwards until they would reach a point whereby they only find interest in that which is most beneficial to one's Iman. I am not saying it is necessary to listen to music but only that one such think more laterally. Again, only my opinion and I may be wrong - May Allah (swt) forgive me should I be wrong.
Very interesting! I am a musician and an atheist, but I agree that music should bring out the best in us, not the worst. I don't believe music makes us bad people, but helps bad people do bad things.
So God forbid, he's going to be DEMOTED from being a Prophet of Allah? What crime did he commit to be demoted? May Allah have mercy on a person who would believe such a ludicrous thought that Allah would demote a Prophet. God forbid.
Huzoor was such a great man, reading his biography made me grateful and it helped me so much, he has an immense knowledge of Islam, Allah(SWT) truly blessed him MASHALLAH thanks for the video.
if you are Sunni my brother then you are Ahmadi. If you convert to a religion outside of Islam and follow something other than the Sunnah then you would not be following the teachings of Islam Ahmadiyya.
ahmadi muslims believe the promised messiah and imam mahdi who was to come to save islam from corruption, as prophecied by the Holy Prophet (saw), has come. the other muslims don't believe in this claim.
neeribaas. the difference between u and an ahmadi is that u dont know what is the difference betwen u and us, but an ahmadi knows what is the difference between u and an ahmadi.
Inshallah Allah will guide you through if you will try to find the truth from beneath of your heart and pray to Allah for guidness, Inshallah you will find the truthness about ahmadiyyat.
Thanks for this video, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(rh) was such a blessed person, he resembled his father, the Musleh Mauod(ra) not only physically, but spiritually and in intellect as well. He was such a blessing for this Jamaat of the Promised Messiah(as)! May Allah have mercy on his soul. Ameen.
Assalamo alaikum wa rahmatullah, I wish to bring into the attention to all muslims. The word Haram which is used far too often in matters that it should not be. Haram is what is made forbidden IN THE HOLY QURAN, not to be used for every day talk or to be labeled on anything which you feel. This goes for Imams and Scholars. Please stop labeling everything HARAM. Jazakallah.
Imam Ibn hazm and Dr.yousf alqardawi and many scholars say that music as music is haram at all but it is haram if you use wrong by dancing or ignoring orders or doing any thing haram like drink wine and so..they have their proves from al quran and sona and I study them very well then I changed my mind about music and say It is not haram inshallah...Thank yopu my brothers in graeat islam
OOmg im soo confused..is music haram or wat??? i heard a shiekh say it was so..now im really confused is he saying i can listen to music as long as its good??? plz answer as soon as possible. salam
He's saying that like anything in life, you have to see if it is of benefit to your spirituality or detrimental. If you can listen to Music without comprimising your prayers, remembrance of Allah, etc., then you are being moderate. However if you listen to such much that focuses on vulgarity, causes you to miss or forget prayers, then you need to reconsider what you are doing. Moderation is key here.
We cannot expect this kind of answer from a mullah truely only a person as good as Hazoor can give a convincing answer to this question. What a rermarkable answer.May Allah Hazoor and Ahmadiyyat.Ahmadiyyat Zindabad
No disregard to you guys but Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was NO Prophet of Allah at all so the Ahmadiyya sect has no foundations? Without doubt only Hazrat Muhammad ibn Abd'Allah P.B.U.H. born in Arabia Makkah 570 -- 632 CE, is the Chosen final Prophet of Allah (Seal of Prophethood) therefore any claim on Prophethood thereafter is absolute nonsense! Sorry I understand it must hurt but it's the ultimate TRUTH!
If you also listen to the answer Huzur (rh) says that ultimately one should gradually improves ones taste until the Qur'an is the only source of their joy.
This is a terrible answer.. He says classical music was a good thing, it isnt as it still effected the people, they were still hypnotised by the serenade of the music which made them cry, it is still haram as it created an effect, The thought of Allah through ibadah and worship and recitation etc should be the only one who makes us cry, not emotional classical music music! This is an excuse to permit it partly
You call it a terrible answer yet support that statement by inferring that Huzur (rh) said classical music is good and nothing else. However, he actually says it was good at a point in time and adds to that statement that any music which takes you away from your fundamental duties and ibaada is bad. You say music is haram, how do you conclude this from the Islamic sources?
''The Khalifa is appointed by Allah swt by himself, it has been proven by the words of Hazoor Rahmahullah Tallah, jis ki fitrat nek he...come and join real islam (Ahmadiyyat)
Even if music is good there must be moderation in how much is listened to, excess is never good. Over time one should improve ones taste and move towards more honorable forms of music, prose, reading etc... That is the basic gist as I understand it, if I have missed anything I invite other people to fill in the gaps. Jazakamullah
Huzur (rh) draws our attention to the fact that music is not haram and therefore cannot be dubbed as being totally bad. The underlying principle is that anything which has more than 50% bad in it should be abandoned. If less than 50% bad then the good things should be adopted. If music is produced in bad taste and takes one away from fulfilling the fundamentals of faith then it should be abandoned.
Lastly, Huzur did not say that classical music should be listened to, neither doe he even advocate listening to music. He merely drew our attention to the fact that music can have different connotations and that traditional classical music was based on certain rules of morality as opposed to modern pop music which is, for the main, immoral. He does not have to prove anything to you, it is you that must prove it is haram. For everything which is not made haram on us is halal for us.
Secondly, we say nothing more about Parda than you will find in the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah. Purda is very clearly made an injunction upon men and women, it is fard upon us both, this is a commandment from Allah (swt). Who are you or we to say that that which Allah (swt) has made fard on us is not fard, Astaghfirullah.
Please understand the Islam Ahmadiyya point of view before making false allegations. Islam Ahmadiyya believes 100% in Jihad both jihad-e-nafs and the physical jihad. We only say that the jihad-e-nafs is the more important, but hey, that is what our Prophet Mohammad (saw) said, so we have good reason to say this.
mirza sahab, for you pop music is non sense and you dont like it so it haram but classical music is halal. give any proof from Muhammad (PBUH). second, what if i dont like classical music and love pop music, then it means pop music is hala for me?
Music is subjectively, and not objectively, bad. This is the whole point, that is why it is not haram. You have to judge for yourself unless it is manifestly bad to all in which case it becomes objectively bad. In Islam where something is 'objectively bad' it is haram, alcohol and pork being prime examples.
So well said! Without mentioning a single Artist we know who He's referring to. And Classical doesn't necessarily mean European Classical Music.
For Example, structured fine Jazz could be considered classical music to Americans. But as Imam said, if it takes you from dhikrallah, or salaat, leave it.
