  • nice that mate

  • would it be possible for you to put a tutorial up for this song? or can you recommend one?

  • outstanding.....you captured the emotion well....

  • nice cover. you definitely deserve a little J&B after that one :)

  • Tiene un estilo mas country esta version. Muy buena! Un saludo desde Argentina

  • You have a beautiful tone to your voice

  • nice J&B detail

  • can you please post a tab

  • wicked mate. after watching a few times the tempo starts to really work.

  • Very awesome!

  • Wish it was a bit slower, but I really liked it! Good job

  • Very nice. How long have you been playing?

  • Amazing job. Great voice, and beautiful guitar. Custom?

  • liked, favorited, subscribed and commented. you are the fucking man

  • Wow, great cover. Any tips for learning this?

  • Great job!!!

  • Amazing cover, sings better than Plant at times

  • Very nice version man! I like your rythym and the originality of your picking style while at the same time preserving the feel of Page and Plant...sounds great! Kudos!

  • Who cares if it's fast? It's still a good cover.

  • great job ur voice is comforting no homo

  • Awsome job with the guitar playing. Extra kudos for adding lyrics. The song is tough enough to play w/o lyrics. Jimmy is a God and I'm sure he could do it, but once again great job playing and good vocals.

  • This is excellent! And inspiring.

I think I can pick up most of the chords from watching this and looking at tabs.

The one thing I cannot get is the picking pattern. No tabs I have seen have the alternating bass throughout. This looks like a Travis pattern.

Can you share the basic picking pattern with us?

It would be a big help to get closer to approaching this song.

    Thanks

  • beatiful cover simply beatiful

  • wow do you want to speed up much?! you start off fine untill :18 ish. you speed up around 15bps. haha listen to the difference between 0:07 and 2:07

  • Good job, man. I could never sing this while playing, so kudos. I'm getting pretty good at the guitar part though.

  • dude dont listen to rt101894.......hes retarted....your cover is bad ass man....the faster the tempo the harder it is to play....

  • @shinymcbubbles

Thanks for saying, tho' he has a point. I actually find that playing fingerpicked passages faster makes it easier for *me* to play consistently but when I play by myself, this has the practical effect of making things too fast. I soof liked how this one turned out, tho'.

  • @flyhaf

    Whoops! " ... sort of ..." :)

  • woah, woah, woah Tempo buddy...way to fast.

  • Woah, woah, woah, spelling buddy ... way *too* something. You're right! It is too fast. If you believe that tempo is canonical. What's your cover of it sound like?

  • i don't have one up....but i can post one if you want. haha. i wasn't trying to make you look bad or anything...you were great...just sayin it was too fast.

  • @flyhaf haha! great cover no matter how fast! can u please tell me though.. how exactly do i tune it double drop d?

  • i see your playing some of the mandolin part to very cool

  • hey dude would you mind telling where you got a tab? or the music for this? iv looked everywhere and i couldnt find anything so i started making my own version of the mandolin and guitar together. i really like you version.

  • I think I found the tuning scribbled down somewhere, and then goofed it out. (Double Drop D) I might have made a tab for it, I'll look around.

  • i love the bottle of J&B that sits so comfortably on the table beside you as you record this zeppelin song..perfect.

  • I don't think many people realize how hard it is to play this the way he did, to keep those octave D's going, play the mandolin parts on the last three strings, and sing?? UNREAL.. Anyone who comments neg. on this better be the absolute sh*t on the axe, but I guess in most countries you're free to be an idiot too!

  • @Brocker8280 Its' way to hard for me, every month I'll go back and say "Ive gotten better! I can do this now". But when I try it's just as hard as it was before

  • That was fuckin' righteous dude!

  • Your the man! dont let anyone drag you down with them, move on and foward.

  • yep we love a bit of zep and some J&B awesome

  • very nice guitar playing....

  • I like it a little faster, plus it's difficult to keep perfect time with no rhythm sect.,

  • you sound a little bit like srv

  • that was fucking ace!

  • hehe....rock on, brother. rock on.

  • this cover deserves more than 11,000 views it should have like a million lol

  • good song. Nice to have a bottle beside you too.

  • This is the best going to california cover i've heard, it's a notch too fast, but apart from that excellent

  • why so fast man??

  • I'm told I play everything too fast. Starting on the piano when I was 8 or so. Fingerstyle lends itself to that kind of thing, and I'm enough of a Kottke fan to enjoy letting it rip ... but you're right, this might not be the right song to accelerate into. : )

  • beautiful verision, i play some guitar, but don't think i could play that.. wow....

  • sound like jack black. very nice!!! :)

  • yeah! but if Jack Black could sing very well...

  • lol..but nice

  • Very nice!

  • standard tuning or some open chord tuning?

  • Double drop-d. This means with a thumb on the fat e, and a ring finger on the little e, at the fifth fret ... you're in G. Everything else is mildly modal. Mostly I played it 'til I didn't have to think about it, and then goofed one. Cool tune! Always thought so.

  • Sounds great man, though the audio and video seem out of sync. Must be the scotch.

  • wow

  • nice but the verse rift os sorta hard i cant understand it

  • AMAZING, any chance of covering "Babe I'm gonna leave you"?

  • Heh-heh. First thing I ever learned, one note at a time with my pop's classical guitar in front of the turntable (dat's wight, wabbit, I said VINLY). I just stuck a cool old version down there in my "favorites" 'cause I had just that in mind--got a lot of work to do, singin'-wise, tho'. Hard not to want too, when the only Zep thing gets 1,000's of views. I'll do it next.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Hey, been working on it! Got caught up in end of the semester stuff. I will make it a priority when I get back from Xmas. I'm lazy!

  • wow. great composition & compromise between the guitar and mandolin into one.

i'd love to see the tab for this. i can't find anything decent. could you possibly send it to me?

because that would just be amazing

ofcourse, it'll take forever for me to learn ,

but from the looks of it, it will most definitely pay off.

    thanks for this

  • That is just amazing man!

Ive got a martin myself. Its a 000-28 and i love it.But thats my all time favorite zeppelin song and you just made the best cover of it that ive ever heard..and no you dont sound like plant, but who cares..i think youve got a great and original voice. It works

  • the vocals actually complimented your cover well

    good job

  • killer guitar.

  • J&B !!!

  • Great job, nailed it. Good ole J&B! must have Scotch in ya

  • great guitar work and ok singing

  • Heh-heh. 'Great' is a bit much, but you and I mostly agree. I end up singing 'cause I like a wide range of kinds of music.

  • hey man that was great i figured out how to tune it like your guitar are u a transcriber ? if you have this tabed out it would be cool if you could send it to me

  • Let me know how it works out.

  • good work man you did it justice

what tune you playing that in?

  • Double Drop D. Both the high and low e-strings are tuned down to D.

  • I love Zep. I like how youre sticking to your own style and not trying to sound like Plant. There are a lot of jerks on youtube, the internet, and hell, the world in general. Just keep up the good work if doing this is what you love. I know I wish I could play or sing, so I envy anyone who can. Good work.

  • Alright, pay attention, kids. *THIS* is how you heckle. Thanks for your input. If it were me, tho'? I'd give the whole puking blood *first* thing a miss. Could just be me ...

    Cheers.

  • nicely put, great vid.5 stars

One of my favorite zeppelin songs, no other band comes close to the,I want to say mysticism, that they produce in their music.

  • all notes dont nessiscerily come from the guitar you where singing at 2.50 your expression and the smirk tells me you know.i know its not exactly what jimmy page played but who cares its not a copy its a cover i meant no offence i loved it your expression at 2.50 was priceless peace bro 5/stars.p.s.i dont no how your pronuncing amadan or what context but it might be "a mad one" as in he's amadan or mad yin(yin being one as in billy connely the big yin-big one)peace bro.

  • i love J+B well i am from scotland.great song aswell loved it even the out of tune notes

  • Ah, but that assumes I played the *right* note and the guitar is out of tune. I tend to put those sorts of things down to my own stupidity. Or possibly the Scotch (we call it here). Hey, what does "amadan" mean?

  • can you give me the tabliture for that PLEASE REPLY i love this song

  • Good job at both guitar playing and singing. Excellent! :)

  • Really great, your voice is good dude. I enjoyed this!

  • good guitar, but voice need work

  • Work? In order to sound like Robert Plant, my voice would need a *career*! I love Zeppelin, but I seldom play electric and don't have ANYTHING like Plant's vocal chops. Then again, they are rock gods, and I'm a dude with a friend with a microphone. But thanks for listening.

  • Im not saying you need to sound exactly like plant, just a little more work, because comon it obviouse nobody will ever sound like that again

  • beautiful! do you have the tabs to the song? i can't find a really good one online and your version is perfect.

  • amazing!! love this song

  • very solid guitar. singing was good too. very good job

  • Nicely done. You get the mandolin into the melody.
