Also, the original plastic battery bezel cover, has been put on upside down. Holding the battery length-wise with two hands, slightly twist your hands in opposite directions. You should see a small gap where you can lodge a blade to "pop-off" the cover. Usually, they're glued pretty good in the middle, so you'll have to forcibly "rip it off". Don't worry; it won't break though.
Thanks Gordon. Fortunately the comapany gave me a full refund on this battery although I had to pay the return postage :-( I'm just putting up with having about a minutes worth of battery power.
Hi, I've rebuilt several of these HP zd8000 series. I think part of your problem is that the faulty battery is a "replacement/non-genuine" battery. Do keep in mind that even though BOTH HP & "replacement batteries" are made in the same Chinese factory, HP ensures that only the best of the best (manufacturing process) get the HP logo. The Chinese knock-offs have a really poorly designed thermal circuitry that allows them to not charge correctly.
