  • I hate it when people like this guy gives bad advice. Do not cover anything. Just clean it and use a pressure washer if you have one. It is imposable to hurt a battery or alternator. Yes if it has a cap, it will need to come off to wipe out the water. No big deal, just a few screws.

All dealerships do it this way all day long. Should not take longer then 5 minutes. Spray it, hose it, slam the hood and drive. It's that simple guys. I've done thousands that way for over thirty years, no problem

  • @AudiTTman225 you sir are very right

  • That is not the way to clean an engine. And shauny0208 you are wrong too.

Use high pressure, cover the alternator and dizzy with plastic bag, go light on the electronic components. I even leave the engine running, never ever had any problem ever. And Iv'e detailed cars for car yards, and hundreds of private customers. And it's JAG-U-ARE not JAG-GUIRE spastic.

  • I'm pretty sure ANY vehicle is gonna break down if you get water in it

  • i think what he was trying to say is that the truck is more water tight than the cars because its a truck and its built to take more water but idk

  • @shaunny0208,using proper procedure whilst pressure washing engine and engine bay will save you copious amounts of times using your stupid rag to degrease an engine!

  • @shaunny0208 Pro Detailers spray water on the engine compartment, but you must protect the electrics and other venerable areas. They also use non corrosive degreasers . A rag alone won't get rid off oil... I agree this man doesn't have a clue but it is ok to use a pressure washer/hose if you are careful.

  • Lexus and Toyota are the same.

  • YOU RE THE BEST MAN LOVE YA SO TIDY AND CAREFUL CLEANING WE HAVE TO ENCOUNTER MATE HEHE!

  • @shaunny0208 i always spray water under the hood when i detail ,nothing ever happened , as long as its light pressure

  • you can spray water on the engine and under the hood but you need to put a plastic bag over the alternator and distributor cap to keep them from getting wet and should spary wd40 over exposed wires to keep water from penetrating and when u do spray water all you need is a light mist because u are brushing it anyways.

  • @yankees33776 wd40 is water based

  • @FARTNOISE100

WD-40, as the name suggests (water displacement), it pushed/removes/blocks water. It is not water based.

  • @Sarstan i was told never to use that around brakes frome so many master ase certified techs because its water based

  • he actually projagwire beforenounces porsche correctly, but i've never heard of a

  • Bob Osborn rules!!!

  • Jag wire haha what a clown. Lexus and toyota are pratically identical. This guy has no idea at all

  • Jagwire, Porscha :)

  • 5**** bud forget these clowns!!!

  • he says do'nt spray the degreaser in sun light where is het at??? you gessed it in the sun, why is whearing sun glasses. :S:S

  • This is illegal in most states. Goverment regulation (EPA) Does not allow you to do this in your driveway! Must be tooken to a place with a recycle water drain on the mottom. I am a professional and dont recommend anyone to do this!

  • Give the guy a break on the "Lexus is a Toyota" thing. What makes you all think that he doesnt know that? He is merely pointing out that the Lexus is more vulnerable to water/liquids because it is carries far more sensors and electrical components than your average Toyota corolla, yaris or echo.

I will agree though, that he looks like a southern farmer who has just traded in his ole Betsy for this new truck.

  • Nice vid. I rated your video too. Check out my videos on auto detailing and tell me what you think.

    -Politowic

  • stop being angry and go clean ur engine -

  • nice work

  • not not the w but i know what you mean most people do say that.

  • oh my goodness....this is the third video i've seen of this guy and it just keeps getting worse. How unfortunate. YouTube please take these videos down. Please.

  • Its not ja guire, theres no guire sound in there at all. Its Guar like Gwar. Only people from the midwest and rednecks say jaguire.

  • hahahahaha

  • i use a leaf blower to blow the loose water instead of a compressor that takes time to build up pressure

  • porscha, jagwire XD

  • Yeah, good example of not wearing safety goggles or protective gloves, but you have an apron. Don't wanna get your yuppy clothes dirty while the degreaser is melting your hands and eyeballs.

  • Weird that a Toyota wont brake down, but it's rich little brother with basically the same motor and components will.

  • Watering before degreasing and agitating is backwards. On the "Dealer Statement". Dealers are where I get 50% of my business from. Mobile guys and guys that do this out of their garage are usually the best of the best.

  • so lexuses will "break down" if its engine bay is soaked in water?

thats weird cause lexus is basically toyota.

  • You're exactly right on the wet the engine 1st... it does cut the degreaser in half, all effort wasted.

  • do you work at the rothrock thats in allentown,pa???

  • jagwire?!!!!!!! the americans say jagwaur this guy is not even from america were is he from space ,and why are you wearing a apron you sissy its not the video thats bad its the guy if they had a diffrent person the video would be fine

  • hes soo worried about getting water where its not supposed to go and then gracefully shoots all the water into all the cracks with an air compressor makes no sense whatsoever

  • A piece of junk!

  • lolzz, and he is wearing his trusty apron...

  • LOL

  • hahahah that was awesome

  • you better not come within 10 feet of my car.

  • Isn't Lexus a Toyota?!?lol

  • The DIY in these how to videos sometimes fail to mention safety first and warnings or important notes to keep in mind if any. Like i this video for example, the mechanic didn't suggest covering the electrical and fuel related parts in the engine eg. distributor, alternator, fuse box, fuel rails, throttle body an so on. I'm sure people appreciate for such videos, but what would happen if individuals new to such decides to detail the engine compartment based on this video.

  • If this guy EVER touches my car, i swear i am going to strangle him with that hose.... how the **** did he get a job as a detailer??????

  • You know, of all the thing you see on the internet, I haven't seen one negative thing said about the U.K.. But daily on the internet and T.V., all you hear is how bad the U.S. is getting. I think I might move to the U.K.. Especially since I'm a huge rally fan and I always thought it would be cool to sit on the right side of the car to drive down the left side of the road. :D

  • LEXUS IS TOYOTA!

  • lolzzz

  • I listened attentively for awhile, then when he said "This is a Toyota- its water tight, but Lexus' are not"... I turned my mind off.

  • I work at delta sonic and we use compressed air AFTER wiping it down to get water out of cracks and tight spaces. The way he did it im not sure I would do it that way but make sure to cover all electrical components with a plastic bag to protect them from water damage. Also dont use a garden hose to wash use a spray bottle, yes it may take a while but it is much more controlled than a hose.

  • Hey Cletus how's your JAGGG WIORE doin?

  • Hitting that engine with the compressed air is way more likely to blast water droplets into sensitive electronic things, what a wang! lets insult mercedes, jags, lex's and porsches while were at it. vapor steam cleaning is the best way ...

  • Jaig-wire's are a classy automobile, they are using one in the next bond film.

why does everyone hate this guy so much. but if i saw him poking about with a air compressor in my engine I might have to flip him, flip him for real!

  • hahaha

  • actually you want the engine a bit warm.. but not hot.

  • You don't want the engine too warm or the degreaser will dry into the engine and make it look less appealing.

  • Degreaser breaks done the oils in rubber, like vacuum lines, radiator hoses, o-rings.. What a moron..

  • why isn't he using a steam gun?

  • are you stupid? Why dont you just submerge your vehicle in a pool of water... yeah thats not called detailing.

Detailing is when you actually put elbow grease into your work and make it shine on a personal level.

    Don't believe this crap.

  • thanks good infor

  • Jagwire, Ha!!!!

  • wats a jagwire?

  • man im not gonna hate, but geez i thought there was gonna be some More "detailing".there is alot more to detailing an engine then that.well at least for me there is, because taking my 240z to car shows require alot of detailing. oh wells....off to find another detailing video

  • Not as through as he could be. Did not even take off the engine cover to get the actual intake manifold. Armor All or any brand tire cleaner works great, since it don't hurt tires, it should not hurt anything under the hood. Also for all vehicles making sure there is plenty of dielectric grease in the plug boots to make sure you don't have a misfire when starting the car back up after cleaning and throughly drying.

  • Toyota is the same thing as lexus! So why would it be okay to do it a toyota and not a lexus. This guy is stupid!

  • he is a fool

  • 2:24...

Certain models like - Jag Wire???

    SMH.

  • nothing beats a rag and a lot of hard work rubbing.

  • becareful with lexus? yet toyotas are fine.. lol lexus are pretty much toyotas.. haha

  • i have worked on a Toyota car repair shop or what u call it, only thing we did was to poop the hood Fill the engine with soap wait 5 min and Steam it off :)

  • i have a 350z i go to lots of import shows so my engine has to look good. i wash it every every week with no problem

  • whats the hells a jagowire? some sort of yanky jaguar?

  • i think he means jaguar

  • I've been powerwashing my engine's for 10 years with no problems. I don't cover anything up, I just am careful how I spray certain areas.

  • what car do you have? I think it depends on the kind of car you are using

  • Well the car I have now is a BMW 325i. It has a lot of plastic covering so not much is exposed.

  • Toyotas are water tight. Lexus isn't!!! Anyone see a problem with this statement LOL

  • Yeah I was going to mention the same thing!

  • hmm... maybe i'm overly concerned but I still see lots of excessive water spraying directly onto the engine cover and other areas. You've mentioned that steam cleaning isn't recomended for this kind of application. Is it because of the steam temperature or pressure? If any, it's the amount of water that gets into electronic components that might cause the damage. I would love to hear your experience with steam engine cleaning if you don't mind sharing.

    thanks,

    -pt

  • awesome!

  • Nice job
