What matters what scale he uses? It sounds like shit, either way. Sorry fans, I gave him so many chances, but I have a high standard when it comes to technicality and musical clarity.

He's just never made the cut. It's so damn sloppy. You can't argue that "It's his style" because there many guitarists who play the 'bluesy, slurry, strung-out' kind of style and sound much better (Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore - who all come from the same era)

So true! playing round chords does work! Pentatonics are cool to use but be careful of other scales, I once tried a fancy Jazz scale for some unknown reason live?? sounded terrible :) then I went back to what was working pretty quick :) play from the heart

If you start thinking in scale shapes you will get stuck in a rut. I play based around chords and i dont think in scale shapes. Just use your ears and play what sounds best it doesnt matter what scale you use. Angus young may use pentatonic stuff but thats because it works with this style. If he started blasting out phrygian dominant it would sound shit lol.

@bandslater Believe it or not, Angus actually does use the Major scale quite a bit, yet even he doesn't realize it. He said he never learned theory. Back In Black's solo is in D Major. The first part of the solo is G Lydian, then to B Aeolian, then C# Locrian, then D Ioanian. U get the idea...
