Carleroy~You are rigth that he did kill himself and a big part of the problem was that he was still recording song but would get NO airplay at al just liek Ray Price, Merle Haggrd, But Carl, Waylon anyone that was OVER 40 years old ~With VERY few Exceptions got any airplay on FM Radio ~Eevry FM Station is now Told WAHT to Paly and hown MANY Times~The people no longer have a say at all~Thats why you hear such CRAP TODAY called "Country ~IT really Got to Faron and was a Reason he Took his Life
All that rap songs about cash moneymillionaries and bling and cars and G5 and shit like that came from coutry music, rock and rap came from country and blues.
The great June Webb can be seen sitting on a bale of straw next to the brunette Carolina Clogger. The set always looks better with her on it! Gordon Terry is great on fiddle. Farron Young is an awesome entertainer, probably my favorite. He sounds great live as well as recorded. I love his enthusiasm for his music and fans.
One of my personal favorite country singers. If you look at him here and then again just before he passed away, you can really see the horrible effects cigarettes can have on aging. I lost my mother to those damn things. If they legalized murder for a day I'd kill every tobacco manufacturer I could get my sights on.
I remember when Faron Young sang Wind me up turn me on and watch me cry for you.I tried to find him singing on video, but couldn't.I hope someone can put it on.
Ya well he was my first love too. I just found out he has gone. He had big fans in Yaxley, Peterborough, England. 40 and 45 we would still have waved the Faron banners. x
He was my first love as well. I first heard him on the Louisana Hayride in 1951. He was 19 and I was 14. A couple of years later when I heard that he had married a 16 year old girl (Hilda) I was devastated. Kept thinking it could have been me. LOL!! I still think he has the most beautiful voice this side of heaven and there will never be another like him.
Faron Young was my first love when I was about 5yrs old. I can still remember watching him and Carl Smith on the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950's on our very first television.

TRIPLE NON PEDAL-STEEL GUITAR
Webb Pierce changed that with his recording
of "SLOWLY" in 1954, Country Music entered
the age of the pedal-steel guitar.

A great song. Also an awesome suit Faron's wearing!

Like many of the older singers, Faron felt country forgot about him. He had a drinking problem and
was depressed from what I've heard, killed himself.

Cigarettes didn't kill Faron Young. He did. He committed suicide after battling prostate cancer.
