  • Interesting musical perspective... I never think of A minor as being a "breakfast" key. That's the wonderful thing about sharing music: You discover people's different perspectives of different aspects of life through the music they create. :)

  • You my friend, is the greatest person alive when it comes to writing percussion pieces

  • I love this.

  • Congratulations! The first composition I saw that I like it.

  • Most amazing piece I've ever heard

  • What program is he using?

  • woooowww. that is a amazingly well written piece, serious kudos man. i would so love the music to this, just amazing.

  • This is so awesome!!

  • is this in 4/4 or 3/4 ? it looks like 3/4 but im not for sure.

  • @drumfreakk97 Its 4/4 My friend :)

  • Brilliant

  • Freakin mucho gusta!!

  • are you in any pit?

  • @garrettwarz,

I played in pit in The Cascades in 2009. But no, not anymore.

  • @reeldeelpeel you should make music for calv or BD then.

  • You, my good sir, are a musical genious

  • @dededekid1234,

I'm glad you think so! Thank you!

  • 5 octave marimbas? or 4.3?

  • @LJIncorporated,

I believe one is 5 octave, and the other 4.3. The part can easily be transposed where necessary.

  • @reeldeelpeel

Is it possible that you could make both marimba parts into a full staff rather then just treble clef?

  • @LJIncorporated,

You're assuming that the notation in the music I sell looks exactly like the video. Not the case at all. There are clef changes where necessary. I make sure the product I'm selling is worth the cost.

  • @reeldeelpeel

    Good.

    Where can I buy it?

  • @LJIncorporated,

Please email me asking the same question. realdealpeel@gmail.com

  • all of your mallet ensemble pieces fade out. i'd like to hear a piece where the ending is the most exciting part of the piece. other than that, your music is fantastic.

  • @jthrunz,

I will consider it. Thanks for the compliment.

  • I'm a quad player but still even I know a well written mallet ensemble when I see/hear one. Great job.

  • @twhlah1,

    Thank you!

  • Tip of the hat, and wag of the finger to you good sir. The wwhole idea of the piece is VERY well thought out. I'm a mallet player, and to me this is great. Maybe not to the idiots that disliked it, but good job.

  • @lij2015,

    Thanks!

  • if you noticed at the tempo change at 1:10 where the xylophones split, its got a cool design between them

  • It sounds like an exercise based on a Philip Glassi-ian chord progression until the middle part where the key changes.

  • reminds me of inception and pirates of the caribbean put together

  • I like Breakfast...LOL

  • from 1:10 the part where the two Xlyos alternated up and down on the sixteenths blew me away! Brilliant work!

  • I really loved playing this song out of all the song i have ever played since i started band this by far is my favorite!!!! :)

  • can i have the piece?

  • @auyongweiqing

You can purchase a copy from me for $20. PM me for info.

  • @reeldeelpeel

how to give u the money?

  • 1:43 is just amazing

  • Anyone who rated this poorly is an idiot. Outstanding mallet piece. Ending could be more flamboyant though.

  • @musicmaster404

I'll admit, the piece isn't perfect. there are a lot of things I went back and changed though. To anyone who is interested in the latest version, you can download the mp3 with the link in the description.

  • Love that piece! :D

  • I would like a copy :) please.

  • @Vlncellomallets08

You need to contact me through email. There's obviously no way we can do any transactions or exchange any files just with youtube. realdealpeel@gmail.com.

  • @reeldeelpeel

I got your email, but you don't seem to be getting my replies since you keep sending me new emails. You need to check your spam folder.

  • @reeldeelpeel would you accept cash? like through mail?

  • @Fatshady180,

Please send me a message or email me: realdealpeel@gmail.com

  • can u give me a link for this

  • @tebtebteb3

Give you the link for what in regards to "this"? You need to be more specific.

  • Hm, your music reminds me of music by Philip Glass. Awesome stuff!

  • @JikklopByrne

Phillip Glass is freaking great. He seems very under-appreciated. I guess only smart and musically-educated people will appreciate his music.

  • My percussion section wants to do this. How much $?

  • @dragonforcepraiser

I'm selling copies for $20. Email me if you're still interested!

    realdealpeel at gmail dot com

  • Oh my gosh you're so good! It makes me sad that there's so many talented people out there but I'm not one them :(

  • @flyingcookie101

Everywhere has somewhere to go, I am no where near as good as I know I can be, and no one ever will be. Just keep getting better at whatever you want to do in life!

  • @wauseonbasketball34

Haha, thanks! Make sure to download the free mp3 with the link in the description, and let everyone you know listen too ;)

  • @mojomojo3011

I should have just searched before, haha. I did search and you're right, my sounds are similar to his. I use repeating chord progressions often like he does. I'm really enjoying his music! Thanks for sharing it with me!

  • @mojomojo3011

No, I've never heard of Ray Lynch actually! Who is he?

  • @Eminem15

Just listen to a lot of music that you love listening to and spend a lot of time writing, and you'll get wherever you want ;)

  • Dude your amazing:)

  • @breberea

    Thank you! :)

  • this is by far my favorite. the chords are just amazing dude. good job!

  • @lionheart10100,

    Thanks a lot!

  • where can i buy this? i really enjoy it

  • @lilburnmafia2001,

You can purchase a copy directly from me, using Paypal. PM me with your email address and I can give you more information.

  • where do i buy this???

  • where do i buy this???

  • Really interesting piece, really, well done. I just found you on youtube. I myself try to compose, but im very novice! I really am inspired by your work. Thankyou for being so good at writing music!

  • im afraid of the top bar

  • @rikuantu

Haha, watch some of the performance videos on youtube, there are some pretty talented kinds out there. These kids have made me believe that it's possible to play if practiced enough. Watch the video on the video responses!

  • I favorited this a while ago and am listening again; absoloutly beautiful.

  • @PhantomPhire25

Awesome! Feel free to download a free mp3 using the link in the description so you can listen in high bitrate mp3 anytime you wish, rather than streaming the sound from youtube.

  • I should show this to my band teacher!!!! and insist on him doing it !!!!!

  • The intro sounds like something i've heard before...but idc, i like it (=

  • @Ky4938 Hopefully you're not implying that I copied or stole ideas from that song, which I honestly have never heard of until now. And researching it, seeing that it was only released this past summer, when I uploaded this video almost 3 years ago kinda makes it seem like they actually took from me. Only someone who doesn't understand that some chord progressions are shared all the time by everyone would think this way.

  • Like a midi file per-say. Anyways, i'm thinking about just buying the piece from you, if that is ok? How much does it usually go for?

I was just saying, the way it is written, if one or more instruments tried to over power the other, there would be no justice to the piece. I have heard it preformed by your front ensemble, and i wasn't impressed. I was rather disappointed. I do not mean to offend you in any way but the piece you have written is so very delightful and should be preformed as such.

  • @ZathrusSabree,

I don't have midi files of my pieces, I only offer mp3s and pdf files. mp3s are free, but the pdf files for the score and parts together for this piece are $20. Let me know if this still interests you.

I did not teach any group that has performed this piece so far, I have only supported one, and I would not call that group my front ensemble or my responsibility.

Keep in mind that any video recording won't do justice to a performance, especially if the camera has a bad...

  • ...sound recorder. Also this arrangement here on youtube is out of date compared to the version I'm currently selling. There are both compositional and musical improvements which make the piece much more readable both with how it sounds and how it looks on sheet music.

  • @reeldeelpeel

Have you ever thought of sponsoring a very talented front ensemble? It would make your music more known and would help out a front ensemble.

Do you have another arrangement that us, as viewers, can look at?

If you can't find a front ensemble that brings the piece justice, your not looking in the right place.

  • @ZathrusSabree,

No, I have not thought of looking for a group to "sponsor." And I don't that word is appropriate to describe what you mean, but I might be wrong.

I have the latest audio uploaded on my facebook fan page. Check out the link in the video description.

  • I love it! Some parts seem too chaotic to where if you gave it to a real ensemble it wouldn't sound to great. Do you think i could get this file from you?

  • @ZathrusSabree,

The piece has been used successfully by about 5 schools, check out the video response and other videos on youtube. So, I'm not too sure what you mean about chaos. And I'm not really sure what you mean by "file." be more specific.

  • this is the BEST mallet i've seen by i like the feel to it. i wish my schools percussion could do this

  • I like the music but the video is way behind the music.

  • @BrooksMajor,

It was difficult to time it because at the time, when I video-captured the Sibelius file playing, it skipped and added frames. I have a different way of doing this now, check out my newer videos!

  • Great "tune!" I just stumbled upon Virtual Drumline this morning and couldn't wait to come home and see what people have done with it. This song is great. It kind of reminds me of some song in the first year of LOST. Excuse my ignorance if is, I wasn't that big of fan of LOST. But, I'm a big fan of you now. And that is what is truly important!

  • @Liquidspaceman,

Thanks for becoming my fan! :-)

  • how much is a copy of this

  • @oldgregify,

I'm selling the score, parts, and an mp3 all together for $20. Send me a message with your email if you're interested in helping me out and making a purchase, thanks!

  • missed the mid morning hunger pains ,should have some horrible clusters in there somewhere :)

  • @bethklice,

I guess this would be the ideal morning then ;-)

  • how long did it take you to make this.. this is absoultly delightful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it!!!!

  • @cheyennetheguitarist,

I don't remember exactly how it took to write, but thanks :)

  • @reeldeelpeel no problem. lol

  • DUDE.....im writing and indoor show, would you mind if i base my show off of your music?

  • @kelsbannon,

As long as you give me credit fr the parts you use, sure. Go ahead.

  • @reeldeelpeel

i sent you a message about the same thing in your inbox, please get back to me when you get a chance =) thanks!

  • does anybody else hear the kids aren't alright by the offspring in the beginning, even so i love it

  • im sorry but i have to say it....I LVOE THIS PEICE!!!!!! i wish my school has more mallet players so we can play this, but sadly i am the only one who can possibly play this amazing peice..Good work man =) keep it up...and if you could maybe a xylophone solo song? lol

  • @chswrestler12066,

    Thanks a bunch!

I think you'd be surprised though what you could get the percussionists at your school to be able to play. You are probably in a position similar to what I was in where I had to teach my percussion friends what I knew and made it the best I could that way. we ended up making state my senior year with a composition of mine.

I actually am working on a xylo solo, I should have it posted sometime this year, probably late Fall :)

  • @redrumarimba27,

Thanks for making it your favorite :) The programs I use are always in my video descriptions. I'm selling copies of this piece for $20, just email me if your interested. My email is in my profile "about me"

  • i would love to see this preformed live.

  • @Promark25,

Search "2009 RFHS Mallet Ensemble: Metabolism" and "2010 IHS Percussion Sextet: Metabolism" and you can see it live.

  • How does a mind work to gain this kind of inspiration?

That's the question that came to me as I heard this music and read your description.

    Really fantastic!

In particular I think you really nailed breakfast.

  • Do you write for Drum and Bugle Corps or High Schools?

  • @rbot100,

I don't write commissioned music mostly because I don't have time to. But I've sold many copies of my ensembles and cadences to high school. The Racine Kilties might use one of my cadences also.

  • sorry I didn't mean to flag it as innapropriatee

sorry:( it was amazing I loved it:)

  • @musicismylife0304,

    It's fine. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • @partyponiessouthdiv,

    Which high school was it?

  • Emocionante!

  • @PauloVictor1702,

It's sort of the goal with all my music ;) Thanks.

  • @Autumnandstephshow,

Thanks a lot for 'favoriting' it! it is fun to play and has been successful several times with high school percussion groups. Please contact me if you would like to purchase a copy of the score and parts for your group :)

  • we're playing this as an ensemble at my school, the top band kids were totally jealous when they listened to it in class today! :)

  • @ImmortalW,

Awesome. Did you guys listen to the mp3, or this video? The mp3 is better.

  • mp3, I suggested it before christmas and our teacher fell in love with it. I'll be playing the Xylophone 2 Part

  • @musicman1079,

    I sent you a message.

  • I dont wanna buy this, but I wanna know where you got the Virtual Drumline 2... and can u get it for free somewhere?

  • its a great comp.. im lookin for something like this for my school to play in the spring are you selling the score??

  • @bandbaby93,

    I messaged you.

  • hiya

i'm new to percussion type music, i was just wondering how people would play those chords on the vibraphone with more than two notes? or are there two people playing it?

  • it is a technique called 4-mallets, you put 2 mallets in each hand and that's how you play those chords

  • people will have 2 mallets in each hand

  • is getting the music for this an option?

  • Yes it is, but it depends on whether you are even aware that I replied to your comment here or not. Email me, my email is mentioned on channel.

  • I agree, exellent

  • The two xylo parts in the second movement (lunch) have a very appealing look to them.

    Sounds amazing.

  • @Aar0nbb, Yeah, they kinda do the opposite things melodically. Thanks!

  • hey love the peice you wrote here its...well great to put it simply i really want to post it on my face book if you dont mind (as a link that is) to show my pit guys. again great.

  • @TheCoolkid860, Thanks, and yes please post the link!

  • I also suggested to my pitmates the idea of a concert :) with escaping hell as an the opener. hah! your music combined with our skill would blow the crowd away!! to any other pits our there, i am not saying we're the best, simply saying that we're skilled. yay first place in percussion in our last three shows! :D stupid evergreen and their jerk crotale player -_- anyway keep on writing cus you're awesome!

  • Your pieces are simply awesome! I play in the pit at Skyview high school in washington and as a vibraphone player, i love your pieces!! So does my best friend and xylo player Valerie! lol XD my three favs are Escaping hell, Metallic lullaby, and Metabolism definitely! Please write more! Not to pressure you or anything :)

  • Thanks! I'm guessing your name is Robert? Thanks Robert, lol. Are you guys competing in WMEA S&E this coming season?

  • Yep! And we might i'm not sure. And i'm guessing you know who Skyview is? heh.

  • wow much better than the stuff i write i wish i could write stuff like this. i bought finale and i work so hard and nothing sounds this good

  • Thanks! You should just go back and change the notes around, and add dynamics in until you can get your own spine to shiver :)

  • wow thats great i write my own percussion ensembles as well hopefully i can put them up shortly

  • Thanks. Yeah, please try to!

  • You are an amazing composer, and and have HEAVENLY compositions, as we can all see.(:

  • Thank you so very much!

  • The key/time changes are very cool. It still sounds like one distinct piece of music, but very different between the 3 parts. A lot of your pieces are based around very simple concepts. I really like that approach, taking a simple concept and evoking every ounce of emotion you can out of it.

  • Thanks! Yeah, sometimes I start with just one concept and keep end to it back to front and up and down, adding new instruments, or more music at either end. And then making those changes inspires new changes. It's so much fun!

  • This is such an epic peace. all of yours are. keep it comen.

  • Thanks a lot, and I sure will. :)

  • xylophones two is awesum dude. i like how they all mix in

  • In other words, you like hoe they digest? lol

  • how* lol

  • hahah yeah dude. But I go to Jackson Harwells school. The guy that bought the music from you. Im currently learning the xylophone two part. Its so much fun. Your a great composer man

  • It's great to hear that you're having fun with it :)
