@360Nomad Maybe. But I kind of doubt it unless the assassin was clearly part of a known opposition party. I don't mean loose affiliation or just a voter. It would have to be a conspiracy and even then, most people in the US won't kill their neighbor because of what some other loser did. As violent as Americans can be, they by and large don't want to hurt each other. Now if it WAS an assassin from some other country, that's when you'd see exceptional American hate!
@AlienBeliever897 Old comment. But my money is on Washington, it has a diverse economy. On one side you have a bunch of agriculture, on the other side you have a lot of technology/industry. Seattle is a major city, too. That, and there's Boeing, so air superiority. Plus the closest states (Idaho, Montana, and Oregon) won't pose too much of a threat. At the very least, Washington would dominate the Pacific Northwest, if not the West Coast.
@AlienBeliever897 I'm curious why? I can see how Texas might be up there. But Alaska just seems too isolated. I suppose this could be to their advantage... but they're not really that industrial. Washington still has my money. And don't forget about all the leftover chemical weapons from the cold war era that are stored here, lol. And the uranium mines, entirely possible we could develop some nukes of our own.
I'm hoping it'll turn into a major motion picture, with Steven Speilberg and Jerry Bruckheimer as producers and Michael Bay directing it and starring such names like Clint Eastwood (who would co-produce and co-direct), Will Smith, Nicholas Cage, Megan Fox, Natalie Portman, Luke & Owen Wilson, Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Vera Famiga, Jake & Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Morgan Freeman, Vince Vaughn, Bruce Wills, etc. You know, an all-star cast
@sandv1ch Because books, movies, games, and etc. aren't no longer mere books, movies, games, and etc. when they present a particular viewpoint. They instead become a medium to express an ideology. Even in WW2 they've used propaganda cartoons to convey a particular message.

@shtirlic76tube I dont care at all about dmocracy, I dont even think it's a very effective form of government your shouldn't blame citizens for what the veiled aristocracy do.
@XXGDUBSXX Democracy isn't very efficient, but when it's applied and used by its citizens, it's far more fair than other forms of government. Any system can be corrupted though. Americans by and large know this and assuming they end the poor direction before it requires violence, the system will fix itself. The damage the government does in the meantime is regrettable. We can only support those that would fix what's wrong.
@shtirlic76tube I'll try shtirlic76tube. I need to apologize, I realize English isn't your native language and sometimes it's difficult to separate trolls from those trying to have a discussion. Also, I like being called savvy, thank you!
Over the last 100 years or so moved away from a Libertarian view towards a more Progressive view. Progressives see large government as a solution to social issues. The problem is that this also means that as a world power, the US government feels it ...
that it's polices should also be good for everyone since they feel that what they do are in everyone's best interest. But that's simply wrong, but that group of people don't see it that way since they feel that they are providing social justice. That said, the issue isn't democracy, it's policy that causes issues. A democracy that follows non-interventionist rules will only project will to defend itself, America is mostly ruled by Progressives now, so the old rules are not being applied.
@Viconius Yep, I'm not an English native speaker, and not a troll either. Thank you for reply. It's very good explanation. Actually my opinion was similar
I love how the Shattered Union movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and it will be distributed by Walt Disney company. LOL It will become a bigger hit then National Treasure!

@papalolita I wouldn't put it past Obama to use some judicial swindling to eliminate opposing candidates or try and "postpone" the elections via executive fiat.

We Americans have never experienced a war on our own soil in living memory, yet we're fascinated by the prospect. We wonder what it would be like to be in a similar position to the people of Bosnia, the West Bank, etc, with buildings and streets in ruin, shells raining down as we take cover, etc. Destruction and collapse seems to be a guilty pleasure of ours - just look at Independence Day, and 2012. This game was made in that vein, and that's all - no grand conspiracy behind it necessary.
I couldn't agree more. Considering its size and population, the U.S. is a remarkably very stable nation. I also think we Americans are curious what would happen if our country descended along the likes of Yugoslavia, Republican Spain, or Somalia. Outside of limited attacks on Alaskan and Hawaiiain territories in the 1940s, we haven't known a full scale war on our soil since 1865. In the end, you're right...it's merely the fascination with the idea, not prophesy.
@mdhookey I have some fears that the US is becoming increasingly Balkanized. In the past, what held together the disparate ethnic, economic, and ideological communities was the rule of law--the idea that the law applied equally to everyone and the Constitution reigned supreme. But in recent years, we've witnessed the rule of law rapidly eroded, an example being the current Attorney General running an extremely politicized DOJ.
When the ROL disappears, people only trust "their own kind."
As an American who studies an MA in European-American Studies over in Germany, I think the absolute opposite. We've had highly politicized DOJs since...well...forever. Alberto Gonzales. John Ashcroft. Janet Reno. John Mitchell. Bobby Kennedy. Ramsey Clark. Francis Biddle. Edward Bates...the DOJ has ALWAYS been politicized, no matter what federal administration. It didn't magically start with Holder. Also, I don't think we can be Balkanized. Who is our Tito (not Jackson)?
@mdhookey I meant "Balkanize" to be a general splitting along ethnic and ideological lines.
And I have to disagree about Holder. He's different from his predecessors in that his and Obama's politics are fundamentally transformative. He's often compared to FDR, but FDRs goal was to secure power for the Democrat Party. Obama seems to view the Democrat Party as a vehicle for upending the political and economic system we are used to in America.
@Livasyandrew I said "in living memory." Of course we've had full-scale wars on our soil - Revolutionary War, 1812, and Civil War. But the people who experienced those are long-dead. The closest thing we've experienced since then is the attack on Pearl Harbor and, as you pointed out, the Aleutians. But those aren't comparable to what's portrayed in this game trailer.
Don't forget the Pig War, which was fought in the San Juan Islands. The fighting was brutal, but fortunately, the only actual death was 1 pig. Everyone ate well that night.
@BrethrenOfUlster you are a retarded American if you say that "Americans have never experienced a war on our own soil in living memory" fucking dumbass, im not American and I know more about the history of your country than you do
I believe he was speaking of how there is no living American right now that has seen of war on home turf. Why would you purposely go out of your way to attack him on it anyways?
@DavidSebua "Living memory". Other than a minor skirmish on an Alaskan island and pearl harbor, he's right. and even then these are only battles. not full wars.
Reading through the comments on this video was an interesting experience. Many seemed to think this game presages the future, others think it was intentionally created as part of a manipulation/dehumanization of the youth (myself included) for some upcoming "collapse" or "martial law."
I think that's all frankly codswallop, and that there's a different reason this game was created:
Story line didn't have enough details. What exactly did cause the rise of domestic terrorism? And what did the president do that made him become so unpopular?
the president was selected by congress that made people resent him then he started cracking down on peoples civil rights which led to domestic terrorism and then the president declares marshal law which pisses people off more i admit the games story is a little to unexplained the story was meant to be more of a senario rather than a actual story
they got our flag wrong...on the texas flag theres a star on the left...and the left is divided and then the rest is divided horzontly...and the top is white and bottom is red...they put red over white
I know this is a video game, but Texas just announced that it wants to succeed from the U.S.A. ....funny how life can follow art some times ..... hehehehe
eddzetarabbit, Just to let you know. There is talk that Hollywood is seriously looking into a Movie called, "Shattered Union" based on the game. This is according to a YouTube video: "US split: Collapse of 'shattered union' to begin with Texas?"
They are. And guess who's making it, that's right. Disney. Jerry Bruckeimer's producing, and the screenplay is being written by J. Michael Straczynski. It will be released in 2013. Gotta get to Fandango.
STFU young dweeb. You are obviously still wet behind the ears and think all strat games are RTS. Most RTS games are mindless crap for the attention deficit generation and have very little strategy in them. The reason the unit didn't fire back is because it is a TB game, think chess, twat.
I bought this game thinking it was strategy cuz somebody told me it was a god game but i noticed later that it is a turn based tactics game. And it is very stupid not animating a real fight whith two units shoot at the same time like in CIVILIZATION (SID MEIERS) and I love civilization.
the republic of texas would win cuz we have experence of being our own nation...and maintain a stable goverment...and we have a lot of recources..which means a very good miltary...but texas winng is just my opinion...(cuz im from central texas)...im in a small town called jonesboro....its exactly on the line of correyll county and hamilton county...(i live in the coryell county side)
YOU have no experience running an independent nation. some corpses in historic graveyards have the experience. there is no collective experience that citizens gain. you sound like those europeans who say they have more experience then the "baby" US.
For the last 50 years, we have been conditioned to accept that the Government can take our freedoms away at any time. In fact, we are already in Martial Law. The golden fringe around the US flag on all the uniforms is a symbol of that.
Read Gerald Cilente and listen to Alex Jones. Those are two of the best sources for what is really going on. Stay away from the brainwashing mainstream media, their only job is to pacify you into accepting out right tyranny when the rug is pulled out from us.
Yes, insult people and call them "stupid sheeps" and "retards." THAT'S definitely a proven way to get converts to your movement. Surely you will have millions taking up arms to fight some fictional satanic elite-led shadow government with stirring language like that.
And you guys wonder why so many Americans remain "asleep."
How are we in martial law? I don't see troops and tanks patrolling the streets enforcing mandatory curfews.
As for Celente, he's nothing more than the newest in a long line of doomer prophets. He scares his readers while making money off them through exorbitant newsletter subscriptions. Kind of a douche, in my opinion. As as for Jones, he predicted the UN would do all the stuff he says the "NWO" will do today back in the 90s. None of it happened. I see no reason to trust him.
No, it didn't get canceled, they agreed for it to be the last episode, but i guess you could say it got canceled, lol. They should make a new series, called "American Civil War II" or something. Either that, they could make a season 3 for Jericho, that'd be nice.
Regular Independent Militia, Colonial Marine Militia and Militia At Large formations are organized all across the USA. Organize, arm equip and train as a unit.

@BrethrenOfUlster ummm? The civil war? War of 1812, they burned the white-house... the Japanese even invaded a couple Aleutian islands during WW2
Livasyandrew 1 year ago
@Livasyandrew I said "in living memory." Of course we've had full-scale wars on our soil - Revolutionary War, 1812, and Civil War. But the people who experienced those are long-dead. The closest thing we've experienced since then is the attack on Pearl Harbor and, as you pointed out, the Aleutians. But those aren't comparable to what's portrayed in this game trailer.
BrethrenOfUlster 1 year ago
@Livasyandrew
Don't forget the Pig War, which was fought in the San Juan Islands. The fighting was brutal, but fortunately, the only actual death was 1 pig. Everyone ate well that night.
ManicEightBall 1 year ago
@BrethrenOfUlster you are a retarded American if you say that "Americans have never experienced a war on our own soil in living memory" fucking dumbass, im not American and I know more about the history of your country than you do
DavidSebua 7 months ago
@DavidSebua
You're*

I believe he was speaking of how there is no living American right now that has seen of war on home turf. Why would you purposely go out of your way to attack him on it anyways?
Smurf4848 7 months ago
@DavidSebua "Living memory". Other than a minor skirmish on an Alaskan island and pearl harbor, he's right. and even then these are only battles. not full wars.

Reading through the comments on this video was an interesting experience. Many seemed to think this game presages the future, others think it was intentionally created as part of a manipulation/dehumanization of the youth (myself included) for some upcoming "collapse" or "martial law."
I think that's all frankly codswallop, and that there's a different reason this game was created:

It was a good game, really spoke to me.

@eddzetarabbit This game has only gained an underground popularity, I personally own the xbox version and enjoy playing this game.

Story line didn't have enough details. What exactly did cause the rise of domestic terrorism? And what did the president do that made him become so unpopular?
murdahj3 2 years ago 2
I'm guessing socialism and North American Union/NWO.
LaGuerre01 2 years ago
the president was selected by congress that made people resent him then he started cracking down on peoples civil rights which led to domestic terrorism and then the president declares marshal law which pisses people off more i admit the games story is a little to unexplained the story was meant to be more of a senario rather than a actual story
gunslinger92x45 2 years ago
@gunslinger92x45
I agree. You know they should have a brief storyline.
MrChinesehero 2 years ago

MrChinesezero, why do you need a storyline, a retard like you is just too stupid to understand it anyway :)

lol... but they should make this as an RTS instead of a turn based game or something..
AQHackAQ 2 years ago
Turn Based games are much better. Glad companies starting to realise it.
Draugkir 2 years ago 2
Or maybe they should make a movie based on this game or inspired by this game.
eddzetarabbit 2 years ago
eddzetarabbit, Just to let you know. There is talk that Hollywood is seriously looking into a Movie called, "Shattered Union" based on the game. This is according to a YouTube video: "US split: Collapse of 'shattered union' to begin with Texas?"
colliertng 2 years ago
Wohoo! I'm excited to hear that! I can't wait for that movie to be released!
eddzetarabbit 2 years ago
they are making a movie for it
gunslinger92x45 2 years ago 3
They are. And guess who's making it, that's right. Disney. Jerry Bruckeimer's producing, and the screenplay is being written by J. Michael Straczynski. It will be released in 2013. Gotta get to Fandango.

But this reference is Lincoln's use about the first US Civil War. No religion needed.

This could have been so much better than it actually was. It should have been real time rather than strategy.
chrismanmk 2 years ago
We have enough poorly made real time games; strategy is what made this game masterpiece, why would you want to remove that key element?
MarioFanaticXV 2 years ago
yea I really wanted to play this when I first heard about it. But after it came out, I talked to lots of people, and nearly everyone said it sucked
zikten 2 years ago
no its good if u like turn based stratageies
gunslinger92x45 2 years ago
Why? Everyone tired of rts crap. A game is ment to be fun to make people think and plan ahead etc.. Turn Based are way more fun dude. Try it :)
Draugkir 2 years ago 3
hey boweoman this game is a turn based stratagy game you asshole that why it dosnt return fire. its more stratigec that way.(spelly sry)

this is the crapiest game in the world...
I have never been soo disappointed as when I bought this game
when I started playing it I was thinking this cant be true there is no way somebody could do such crapy game...
The worst thing is when an unit was attacked it didnt return fire imedietly insted it had to wait its turn....
it is so stuppid waching an unit doing nothing while somebody is shoting at it
boweowen 2 years ago
STFU young dweeb. You are obviously still wet behind the ears and think all strat games are RTS. Most RTS games are mindless crap for the attention deficit generation and have very little strategy in them. The reason the unit didn't fire back is because it is a TB game, think chess, twat.
thewanderingshrew 2 years ago
I bought this game thinking it was strategy cuz somebody told me it was a god game but i noticed later that it is a turn based tactics game. And it is very stupid not animating a real fight whith two units shoot at the same time like in CIVILIZATION (SID MEIERS) and I love civilization.
boweowen 2 years ago
I almost bought from Steam but read some reviews and it is not deep enough for me.
thewanderingshrew 2 years ago
the republic of texas would win cuz we have experence of being our own nation...and maintain a stable goverment...and we have a lot of recources..which means a very good miltary...but texas winng is just my opinion...(cuz im from central texas)...im in a small town called jonesboro....its exactly on the line of correyll county and hamilton county...(i live in the coryell county side)
sbjl08lord 2 years ago
YOU have no experience running an independent nation. some corpses in historic graveyards have the experience. there is no collective experience that citizens gain. you sound like those europeans who say they have more experience then the "baby" US.
zikten 2 years ago
where are they getting all the gas to run the tanks and aircraft? lmfao.
pretty sure the republic of texas would kind of keep that to themselves.

ronarprfct 3 years ago
For the last 50 years, we have been conditioned to accept that the Government can take our freedoms away at any time. In fact, we are already in Martial Law. The golden fringe around the US flag on all the uniforms is a symbol of that.
Read Gerald Cilente and listen to Alex Jones. Those are two of the best sources for what is really going on. Stay away from the brainwashing mainstream media, their only job is to pacify you into accepting out right tyranny when the rug is pulled out from us.

Ur blind and stupid like sheeps, ohoho, gratulation... go back to sleep.
Keks3318 3 years ago 13
Yes, insult people and call them "stupid sheeps" and "retards." THAT'S definitely a proven way to get converts to your movement. Surely you will have millions taking up arms to fight some fictional satanic elite-led shadow government with stirring language like that.
And you guys wonder why so many Americans remain "asleep."
BrethrenOfUlster 2 years ago

I tried this game to day. I like it, simple TBS easy to play. I do not understand why it has such high computer requirements thought.
and it would have been better if it had a fraction editor map editor and unit editor etc.
