  • i cycled my first tank with neon tetras

  • RT: If you know what you're doing, and it has worked, go with it. If you don't know, listen to a guy with experience whom you trust because he has a running aquarium. You don't have to listen, but if you listen and fuck up, its on him, not you...which is why I listen to most people xD

  • What he doesn't tell us is that Tigerbarbs can be agrassive agains other fish like Goerami and fish with long fins. Why buy fish to check the no3. The fish can die, and if not, get rid of them??? Thats sad. Just be patient. Wait for a month after setting up and get you water tested. Less cruel.

  • Arse head

  • this here makes hobby sounds bad and you dont get fish just to kill them omfg!

  • lol tiger barbs are awesome looking and should cost more but hey better for the consumers

  • this is mean and makes hobby sound bad

  • what a dick you are! and are those baby black ghost knives with all those gauramis?? im sure they love being eaten alive at night by all those knives when the poor things are trying to sleep, amazing fish? yes.. but not with a totally nonagressive gaurami!! sheesh

  • what a piece of fish shit you are!! ..

  • people who start tanks like this don't care about fish and shouldn't be fish keepers.

  • @MeltWithTheStars dude in 12 and probably more pro than u ya pussy!!!!!

  • Your best option is a 15 cent goldfish

  • barbs are very hardy. also, another real hardy fish are zebra danios.

  • i have a 30 gallon tank i think is it good enough for like a couple goldfish?

  • i fill up my tank, add in the fish, and everything goes well, you dont need to care about the cycles etc, freshwater fish are hardy

  • @shuwukong they're not hardy. they're just not showing weakness, like all prey animals do in order to avoid being targeted by predators.

    you've poisoned your fish. congrats.

  • Your way is stupid. I have always had aquariums and i just wait 2-3 days then put fish in and they live their whole lives out

  • @christian1998123 me to lol

  • @christian1998123 their whole lives which have been cut short thanks to you letting them get poisoned. yaaaayyyyyyy. not.

i bet you keep 'em in bowls too. why stop at one level of cruelty!!

  • I've had plenty of fish tanks over 15 years now, from 60-700l, and I have never done it your way. just leave the water for a few days and ur good to go with pretty much any freshwater fish. What a waste to buy fish and throw them away, on top of that tiger barbs. You got trouble selling them or something? They are fin nippers after all.

  • tiger barbs are not for begginers mutherfucker i have a pack of 9 and they are hardy well not that much. just dont add any slow moving fish (fin nippers). plus mine share a tank with a striped rafael catfish.. pretty chill but fuck u expert village u dont know shit ive been keepin fish since i was 4 so fuck you.. i pretty much know more then ur asses.

  • A bit of info. Tiger barbs tend to die when nitrite spikes. They are NOT a good cycling fish.

  • and REMOVE them? dude, are you crazy? this is the way how we should treat the poor fish? you suck

  • this i the same word for word viedo of the salot water begginer tank

  • And they call you exprerts!

    IT'S A WORLD OF DOOM

  • Blah blah blah, when you drain your tanks leave the water that doesnt suck up in the tank add new water tada new water is cycled. also if got a brand new tank , squeeze a dirty filter into the water = cycled tank

  • thats way to many fish im shocked they didnt die each fish should have a gallon of tank for each inch it is theirs like 30 0.5 inch fish

  • @brandyn61 ya thats too many fish but 1 inch of fish per gallon? that rule does NOT work you need more than that

  • Do you think I can speed up the cycling process of a fish tank if I were to ask my petstore if I can have some of their water and gravel being used in an already setup healthy tank they have?

  • @Gehenna92 all you need is the water from the pet store maybe 1/4 of the tank your setting up and fill the rest of the tank with fresh water and run your pumps for a week or 2

  • exoertvillage is a joke and it sucks

  • u idiot!!$@@%#$^ those cheap fishes are still fishes and lives, how could u sacrifice them just to make sure that the water is good enough for ur beautiful fish and expensive fishes!!!!!!!??????

  • Lol i saw like 20 BKGF in the tank with the guarmies lol

  • classic dude anything for a buck!!..

  • You should recommanded non-fish cycle...that is just cruel...

  • you said you need a tough fish, but i had guppies and they all survied the first 3 month and i still got them. are guppies though fish cause i got told they a delicat and will die!! but they didn't

  • @bakemekillers mate a gold fish or 2 is the way to go for a tough fish :)

  • is it true u should let the water settle for 24 hours before installing fish and when u do then u have to check nemonia and nitrate levels until they hit 0 before you add even more fish

  • which would you recomend rena or eheim canister and can you use with a reeh tank

  • are guppies good for starter fish or african dwarf frogs

  • will aquarium plants grow in sand?

  • What about marine starter fish?????

  • i jus got 6 feeder goldfosh and after the tank was cycled returned them and got whatever i wanted

  • I'd say go with platys or guppies becuase they cost less, and they can easily adapt to begginers mistakes very well. Gourami's tend to be more shy then most fish and are in need of good water conditions.

  • i got 1,000 gallon tank in my fathers restaurant

  • Good luck with the 250 gallon change, once a month.. Lol

  • im kiddin

  • thats fucking boss

  • but there are some

  • um the seconet i herd shark i thought no way any other fish can go with shark

  • well my friend has two sharks in with his other fish and they didn't seem very bloodthirsty for the other fish lol

  • what are also are good starter fish that can go with iridescent sharks?

  • Comment removed

  • please tell me why risking a fish is a better option than just putting a piece of organic mater (shrimp, fish food) in the tank and waiting for it to decay?

the answer is that ity isn't. by using the fish food, it is less expensive ,safer ,and easier to control.

  • is a pirhana tough enough??

  • hell yeah

  • haha,lol.

  • OMG!!! Look at the little black ghost knife fish in the tank with the Gromies at 1:14

  • imo, you shouldn't use starterfish.

  • I wish I had your job... where do you work? like what state?

  • i have lost a dew of my starter fish. Is this normal can somebody please tell me

  • tell you the truth, their are almost no TRUE aquatic experts that will recomend starter fish.

the workers and owners of fish stores will tell you to use them because..... you put the fish in, the fish dies, and they get more money.

it is the sad truth of the matter.

never trust the lfs (local fish store) and you wouldn't be doing yourself a diservice by joiing a local fish forum

  • haha i saw a bgk (black ghost knife) in the secound tank lol

    those fish rock

  • What do once you remove them X)

  • umm...its called fishless cycling now no1 does this

  • why mot just use some goldfish

  • i see a sliver arowana in the last tank lol

  • yea in the back.

  • tiger barbs are a begginer fish if you dont keep them with anything else but if u try and put them with a long fin well ull be in for a lesson or 2. my first tank (20g) had a red tailed black shark and a few tigers and after the tigers annoyed the shark, the shark would reign death and keep the tigers hideing in the corners haha eventually their aggresiveness died to the point where an angel fish would be safe ha.

  • He forgot to say how tiger barbs are aggressive and can't be mixed with most fish,

  • I disagree, the tiger barb is a notorious fin nipper and not really for the beginner.

  • Actually, tiger barbs are good starter fish that can live in a community tank if kept in a shoal of 6 or more.

  • Cycling a tank usuallys takes about 4-5 weeks and in some cases even longer. When i cycled my tank i used the fishless method, where by you ad a source of ammonia to the water every day till you get a paticular reading, then nitrites should show after a week or two. When cycling is done you should get 0 reading of ammonia NH3/NH4 and NO2 and a high reading for NO3. All that is left is to do a big water change to get rid of some of the Nitrates NO3 then you can add your fish to your cycled tank.

  • what does teh tank cycle mean?

  • Lol when i first made my aquarium I filtered my tank out for a day and it was crystal clear then and I went and bought fish like 5 diffirent types and they all lived fine I guess I got lucky on tough fish and its a tropical fish tank too

  • can i put a filter thet was in a 10 gal in my 20 gal pls reply thanks

  • Yes, as long as the 10 gal filter cartridge was filtering the tank for a while, that will cycle your tank. Also, you should leave the filter in your 20 gal for a few weeks.

  • A better thing to do would just to take some gravel from an established tank into the new tank to get the good bacteria. You could also use some one's old filter pad. If borrowing good bacteria is not an option, you can buy some Ammonia from the supermarket (Fish waste is Ammonia, which is the good bacteria's food) so you don't have to stress out and kill fish.

  • You can get around the nitrogen cycle in both salt and freshwater with a bottle product. I use it all the time.

  • i might be getting a tropical tank and iv never had one before so im a begginer. iv had goldfish. what types of fish are good for beginers i quite like sharks and sucker fish but i dont know what will go well with them

  • Fish that live in there region.

  • Mark is a dumbass even an idiot would know whow delicate gouramis are. tiger barbs are egressive. guppies are good with the nirtogen cycle. the nitrogen cycle is not necessery. you could set up your aquarium keep it for 5days to a week and then put in your fish

  • This guy has no Idea. People need to be educated about fishless cycling. This is where the biological processes required in the start up of an aquarium are done without harming fish using a product containing ammonia. Cycling your tank using fish is CRUEL!

  • Mark is a dumbass. He doesn't deserve to work at a fish store with all that misinformation. Tiger Barbs and Gouramies are NOT good starter fish for cycling. No fish is really...but zebra danios would be the best if not going fishless cycling. All these expert village videos suck and are filled with incorrect info.

  • the tiger barb i have ate evrey other one i put in there so i put some walmart fish in there like the painted didnt eat them but hes right there tough fish

  • id just go with an oscar they are beasts

  • yeah i agree with the gourami thing i just bought a 29 gallon tank and the first day i added the guorami and a african clawed frog and there still alive...

  • If you are a smart fish keeper, you would know to do fishless cycling using pure household ammonia. If this is done right you won't be putting any fish through suffering. Google it on the internet to learn about it.

  • lol gouramis are not starter fish. zebra danios, tetras, and tiger barbs are starter fish.

  • lol tiger barbs are not starter fish, they are aggresive and will nip at any slowmoving fish in your aquarium...

  • bettas are one of the most common

  • But they have very small lifespans...

  • do it with zebra danios, dont listen to this guy

  • Yeah, you don't need 4 weeks. You need at least 6 weeks.

  • Do not listen to this guy... He dont know anything about keeping fish...

  • That Guy (on the video)needs to study more... all his videos are partly wrong.

  • Tiger barbs can be horrible starter fish. And they would limit your tank to semi-aggressive (unless you get rid of them I guess) PLUS they stress really easilly. I have never had a problem with letting the tank sit overnight and then adding salt and bacteria starter. Then just start slowly introducing fish starting with the hardiest (like zebra danios, get a trio of them and they don't take up much space either). This guy doen't seem to know what he is talking about it seems rehearsed.

  • Or you could just use feeders to cycle, they are hardy & inexpensive ..........

  • hi,

can I get a little less concrete information and a little more fluff in the video?

    thanks

  • So, he's basically telling everyone to get a disposable fish to cyle their tanks with? That sucks, & is pretty cruel. Why not do a fishless cycle? It's misinformation like this that hurts the hobby.

  • @HHGUSAAL no, u want a hardy fish so it will SURVIVE. If u dont use fish, it could take upward to months for the tank to cycle.

  • tetras are also cheap and hardy

  • zebra danios are good too!

  • Buy a bottle of pure ammonia and do what they call a fishless cycle. This is one of the new ways. This way you don't put any fish under stress. There are many places you can read on how to do this on the internet.

  • So could I take my two blue gouramis out of my 100G tank and put them into my 10 Gallon to cycle it for a couple of days, or just let it cycle by itself? :)

  • I bet he had rehearsed them lines for about two months.

  • thats place sucks, dont buy from them

  • LOL @ Black Ghost Knives being housed in a fast moving tank with gouramis and absolutely nowhere to hide.

  • lol

  • He completely neglects to mention that tiger barbs are a SCHOOLING fish! At least three are needed to form a small school. They are also notorius FIN NIPPERS and classified as semi-aggresive!! That means they will quickly become a problem to the beginner who has also purchased platies or guppies. Even more so if they don't have at least 2 other barbs to chase around.

  • 1. Spell genius right, retard.

    2. No, he doesn't know half of his facts
