Just about anything you can grow in the ground will grow in containers. Peas, carrots, beans, salad greens, herbs all work quite well. Even potatoes. Just remember containers need watering more often to keep from drying out.
I started gardening this last spring. I planted eggplant in a 2 gallon pot and to my surprise I got about a half dozen perfect huge eggplants. You will notice that the plant wilts when it is thisty. You can definitely grow it in a 5 gallon container and you won't have to water every day as I had to.
What were the seed packets called. And were did u get them at?

i like to start with already-wet seed starting mix - it helps prevent the seeds from floating around when first watered.

i make my own compost so i dont have to buy dirt in bags... and i use the seeds that come from fruits/vegetables from the supermarket :)

i live in an apartment, i have a patio but no land to plant in. are there any veggies that grow well in containers that you could reccomend

i want to do eggplant, if i put them in a pot do i need to stake them like tomatoes and will a 5 gallon container work
