  • Sorry if I sound dumb, but are those stitches dissolvable? And what was that white stuff you clipped off underneath when you first cut the cornea off? I just want to learn, never seen this done before. (:

  • I had this surgeory donr in both eyes due to having keratoconus. Dr. John Seedor in the New York eye & ear hospital at 310 e14th street was / is my surgeon and he's AMAZING! If you are a teen ike I was with Keratoconus, don't be afraid to get the surgeory. I was afraid, and put it off for more than 10 years. Now I'm glad I did it. I can see again, thanks to the surgeon and transplant donours. Anyone can contact me about this opperation. I'd be glad to tell you about my experiences.

  • How did I even end up on this side of youtube?

  • i love the special spoon for taking the lense out of it's container

  • @MrsChantelle2010 same here, im 14, and ive progressed too far in my left eye fore cross linking. So i will get the partial transplant in my right, and crosslinkning in my right eye.

  • I had a transplant last October 2010 and Thank God and My Doctor , I can see and enjoy life .. for a period of one year you need to put eye drops and this October am going to remove the Stiches ;. Had my left eye done this August and thank God It went really Good :) It's better to take the risk in life , I had only 10 % chance but my doctor was really great , He was honest and very understanding. Am from united kingdom :)

  • When you guys get the corneal transplants, do they fit you with hard contact lenses or soft contacts lenses? because i would hate to have this surgery just to have two pieces of glass in my eyes again.

  • @Leo2010Messi No before you do the transplant the doctor try their best to help you they try to fit in a hard contact lenses , mine didn't hold in my eyes cause my cornea was like a corn shapeand my chance was really low .

  • @Nahsuirah007 Yea same here. I need this surgery because my eye doctor wasnt able to fit me with hard contacts.

  • @Leo2010Messi Good luck and God bless :) You will be ok

  • i got kerataconus at the age of 10. at the age of 12 my left eye got so bad that i can only see shades in it. both of my eyes have this. i really need help and a cure. i am 15 years old now.

  • its not a beautiful day for him/her lol...

  • gracias dios mio por dar esta sabiduria a estas personas para que hagan el bien al projimo

  • my brother rejected his first new cornea so they basically refused to do the other eye. His kerataconus is devastating his life. its so unfair. He's only 24 years old.

  • my eyes are half close while watching the entire video...

  • this was so hard to watch. i can't believe i've had this done in each eye. always, wondered what it'd looked like from the surgeon's view.

  • Where does the new cornea come from?

  • @99F If I'm not mistaken, organ donors.

  • I was diagnosed with kerotoconus at nine years-old, I believe. When I was thirteen, my first cornea ruptured and developed the surface blister (I think it's called hidrops?), forcing a transplant. The same happened to my other eye two years later. That was ten years ago. I was under local anesthesia, but still felt a bit of pain during the procedure. Terrible light sensitivity ever since and serious dry eye. But I have 20/15 in one eye with contacts, so, good with the bad.

  • I need a corneal Transplant for Keratoconus... watching these things make me more and more nervous...

  • @DerekJWilliamson

    Derek, I've had corneal transplant in both my eyes - left eye 8/13/2009 right eye 4/27/2010 due to Keratoconus and I was very nervous too. I just wanted to tell you that I am so very glad that I did it. I had severe Keratoconus in both eyes I get the stitches out of my right eye in May. It is a slow process for the vision to come back but now I know I have two healthy corneas. Hope this helps you not be so nervous :o}

  • @corysgram Thank you, I went to the doctor and they told me I would have to try everything else first, such as Corneal Cross-linking and Intacs. So frustrating.

  • really looking forward to getting this done...

  • @04:30 , it scared the shit outta me.

  • The best part about watching surgical videos is the trippy music they usually have. Tooouch me ooooOOoo.

  • super!

  • OUCH

  • was corneal cross-linking (C3R) presented as a possible treatment prior to the transplant?

  • it seems there s a cataract. why did not you do a combined surgery?

Ronaldo D Galuppo MD Opht Brazil

  • @GaluppoBR

No Cataract. This is a 40 year old patient.

  • @clinicaojostijuana Pupil is way too small to tell for a Cataract, did you use Pilo Mini for the pupil or is the small pupil just due to the light?

also I noticed the cornea removed was about 2mm displaced Nasal, was the pt a Hyperop prior to transplant? What was the reason for the transplant? Kerateconus? I saw no Vogt Striae or scarring

  • @clinicaojostijuana what is the milky spot on the eye?

  • @GaluppoBR Isn't the cornea in the corner of the eye?

  • Not only can I take seeing the surgery I am having it this Thursday(:. I am not scared at all. It helps to see what is going to be done before as it relives any anxiety and stress,

  • @travelplus1 Hope you had a succesful surgery. How do u feel now?

  • i think i'm going to throw up... i can't take it

  • cuanto cuesta para serse ese tipo de suregia
