If Bundy's inspiration for the Lake Sammamish killings was Schaefer's fiction and if Schaefer really did kill upwards of 80 women, then Schaefer is 'worse' - if that's possible - than Bundy. But Schaefer always wanted to be the 'best'. Some serial killers you can feel sorry for, but it's hard to feel sorry for Schaefer.
