I saw Fela last night at the Ahmson theater in LA. Music was good wish I could have seen more 6/8 beats. As far as the musical, well there really wasn't a story, show felt long and repetitive.
ok horn section! Actually finding myself wishing I was one of them dancers around the 3:37 mark. I woulda been straight gettin it in #BACKITUPANDDROPIT
To be honest, I don't greatly rate the first five minutes or so, but once the horn comes in and the saxes get in to the beep-bo-boodup rhythm it really flies. Absolute disaster to cut it off at 10:00.

@xxxsssxxxsss You apparently know nothing about jazz, musical arrangement or harmony. You can now go back to listening to your Lady Gaga and Waka Flocka. Peace...
3:09 to 3:28 is unbeleivable! This guy plays more than 8 simultaneous notes and is still able to look behind at orchestra to give instructions....Not even Mozart can do that!
@mballom3 it's not THAT special... any good piano/organ player should be able to play a few seconds without looking at the keys... so mozart could probably do that, too. lol
ROUGH DRAFT Those nights we were hang'n. Fela Kuti, Yellow Man, those horn, the drums, That music was strong, And though we never had to pass through metal detectors, Respect brought us to South of the border, Yeah there was snow, Snow on the tables, And Rabbi was dancing, he was dancing, We were all dancing, And the smoke was passing, between Between us all, one love, One night, it wa love, oh irie, Irie, love, Love between us all.
first time i saw his video clip i was young, i says to my mum, "mum there is this crazy african guy on T.V" my mum nd my sister came into the living room runing, when they saw it was fela, my sis says "ohh its fela kuti"... from there i never forget his name nd my favourite song shakara
