  • The only one I can mention in one sentence with James Brown.

  • African women are beautiful, look at how those women are dancing. I love my African women.

  • I saw Fela last night at the Ahmson theater in LA. Music was good wish I could have seen more 6/8 beats. As far as the musical, well there really wasn't a story, show felt long and repetitive.

  • @1DayAsADog he died in 1997!

  • @ajonetto He meant the broadway musical

  • Did anyone else see 'Fela!' ? No? Just me?

  • He is true black president.

  • One of my favs.

...my kids are diggin Fela .....they dont admit 2it ...but I be cn them slick- groovin..

  • Thumbs up if you just misspelled Flea.

  • the legend.....always adore him

  • ok horn section! Actually finding myself wishing I was one of them dancers around the 3:37 mark. I woulda been straight gettin it in #BACKITUPANDDROPIT

  • To be honest, I don't greatly rate the first five minutes or so, but once the horn comes in and the saxes get in to the beep-bo-boodup rhythm it really flies. Absolute disaster to cut it off at 10:00.

  • I adore his music - would slowly buy each of his reissues - he was/ is the man!

  • obviously it's not just him; those saxes are played by talented peeps

  • UNIVERSAL

  • African genuis, Love from The Ivory Coast.

  • 3:09 to 3:28 is unbeleivable! This guy plays more than 8 simultaneous notes and is still able to look behind at orchestra to give instructions....Not even Mozart can do that!

  • @mballom3 it's not THAT special... any good piano/organ player should be able to play a few seconds without looking at the keys... so mozart could probably do that, too. lol

  • @mballom3 there are blind people who play the piano...that's a lot of notes without looking

  • Fela Kuti inspires me to live a life of freedom in the face of oppression.

Salve Fela Kuti, Ogum, Mutalambô, Nzazi , Malcom X, Luther King, Gandhy e outros importantes guerreiros!

  • it sounds like acid jazz with afrika roots... I like it...

  • i wonder if pink floyd influence this or vice versa

  • The horns, the voices, the dancers, the rhythms...I always feel something so ancient, so natural to me when I listen to Fela's music.

No software can create this hypnotic rhythm. Its like James Brown, Sun Ra and

Duke Ellington jammin at Congo Square

  • I had to pause my porn to watch this...EARGASM!!!!!

  • @WhiteBoiOwnedYou that is real commitment , lol

  • @WhiteBoiOwnedYou ... honestly it is worth the while bro...

  • @WhiteBoiOwnedYou haha, you watch porn to FK, winning! right on.

  • Are people really comparing Fela Kuti and Michael Jackson. REALLY?!

  • @evad6832 lol not sure why but I enjoy both their music.

  • He will never die!

  • @evad6832 the ideal term here would be duh-uh. and b4 u flare up listen actually listen to what d dude is sayin. BTW, I am a die-hard Michael Jackson fan so no beef!

  • @evad6832 don't worry; we are in the age of the anti-intellectual!.... (NOTHING & NO-ONE like FELA!)

  • @evad6832 who should be offended here fela or micheal jackson ?

  • @evad6832 You know, it's not even that I think that one is deficient when compared to the other. It's just...wha-HUH?! How did that even get started?

  • @evad6832 i don't think so really

  • @evad6832 I hope you mean Fela is on a far higher level.

  • @evad6832 WHATS WRONG WITH THAt?

  • @evad6832 heeeheee shhimonayy!

    lol mjs reel cool......

  • wow... that's some powerful shit right there...

  • I'm 16 years old,and i can say i got the utmost respect for Fela.I see the comments below about how he's better than michael jackson to me which is irrelevent since they are nothing alike.

  • @wwefanatic662 - I agree, nothing like, so irrelevant. This is great though, scary brilliant.

  • Bob Marley is Jamaica's Fela Kuti.

  • @501sabu501 Chico Science is Brazil´s Fela Kuti

  • 41 people have been taught nonsense about music, when they hear good music they click dislike

  • They both paint their faces white

  • Simply awesome. I'm astounded by the stupidity of some comments trying to compare Fela and Michael Jackson. Two entirely different music styles, themes, and messages. As far as Fela is concerned, he is incomparable. Only his son Femi can do him justice.

  • 天国見えました。

  • thumbs up if datarock brought you here!

  • Pow Wuuuuur!!!

  • comparing Fela to michael jackson is like comparing the best sex you ever had to contracting smallpox. Michael Jackson was irrelevant past 1989. Fela is still relevant.

  • @johnshay1017 retarded!

  • @CoutureSista also, michael jackson drugged and raped kids, soooooo...he can go fuck himself.

  • @johnshay1017 Ignorance is really bliss, huh? Educate yourself...it doesn't take a genius to figure out that he was lied on for money, The court ruling that there was no evidence to back up the allegations should have been enough to prove that. Stop feeding into the bullshit that the media throws at you, sheep...

  • @johnshay1017 LOL irrelevant past 1989? I guess that's why his 1991 album sold over 32 million copies, huh... and why the album he released in 1995 sold over 20 million =)

GTFO my friend. You might wanna do a little research next time you try to talk down on such a legend.

You don't have to tear down one to recognize the other. They were both incredible.

  • Their is no sense in making comparison btwn Fela & micheal, they are both great & legends, they were both music icons but their music is far different from each other. Fela can be likened to a prophet, but his way of life was was an opposite side, however he did a great job that 'll benefit even the generations yet unborn.

  • LOVE it!...^^

  • why compare fela to michael? the connection is unclear and the conversation is a time waster. even now, i am wasting time...

  • FELA to me, is by farrrrrrr GREATER than Michael Jackson [ NO DISRESPECT ] Fela sang and played instruments with ease like he was born to do them. SIMPLE AND END OF STORIES

  • The REAL Black President. Barack "who"???

    >;-)

  • @akinolo1 - Bob Marley came from Jamaica, the son of a black Jamaican woman and a white Englishman...

Based on your reasoning, I too came from Africa... I'm Puertorican.

  • @pinahl You most certainly did Pinahl ppl indigenous to that port(rich) are an amalgamation of the indigenous Taino Indians and Africans slaves and Spanish conquerers that came there

  • @pinahl You most certainly did Pinahl ppl indigenous to that port(rich) are an amalgamation of the indigenous Taino Indians and Africans slaves and Spanish conquerers that came there dont let the labels fool you jamaica puerto rico etc.. thats what keeps us powerless and divided
