  • Alter, da kannst du jeden V8 oder V12 vergessen... DAS ist pure Steampower!

  • sounds like music to my ears

  • que máximo esse som. é como uma sinfonia trabalhando exatamente, igual a outra

  • No wonder men got a whole lot of different kinds of ear damage working on those kind of conditions for the most of the day.

  • this is real horce power

  • omg that would drive in insane being down there all the time

  • I'm guessing that the word "port" written on both sides of the geared flywheel meant that the engine pictured under construction was to be installed on the port side of the ship. (Titanic?) Hmmmm......is that correct?

  • @SteveLLW It says P 401, referring to the Titanic which was "project 401" at the shipyards before she was officially named.

  • @2ndOfficerCHL By George, you are right. I should have looked at it more cloesly. By the way; when the engine gets to a steady 'operating speed', I hear 4 low pitch thuds (presumably strokes), then a 5th metalic 'clink' sound. Is that a valve gear making that noise, or is there too much bearing slack somewhere causing that sound? Also; are there any photos of Titanic's turbine that you know of?

  • @SteveLLW It's probably a valve, because Titanic had two low pressure pistons per engine to maximize efficiency, so the valve "cycle" would start when all four cylinders had fired. Loose components would be disastrous in an engine this big, because it'd vibrate the whole ship to pieces.

There are definitely pictures of turbine components from the Olympic class ship. Whether any pictures of a complete engine as mounted inside the ship exist, I'm not sure.

  • May have gotten this from a power station. I thought I had read that there was one engine remaining that was similar to the ones in the Titanic. Was used as a backup power station.

  • Be a big job shoveling coal to feed that sucker.

  • It kinda sounds like a gas moder

  • Sounds a lot like a steam locomotive. Then again steam locomotives are the same thing, just smaller.

  • What a beat, and you can dance to it too!

  • Ist das dass neue Lied von Depeche Mode?

  • That sounded GREAT! They should rebuild this remarkable machine. I want to hear its true engine power!

  • i love the beat starting at 0:35 ^^

  • 10hours please xD

  • I find it scary as fuck! still cool though.

  • I am in love with that sound.

  • trying to anticipate how many RPM the prop shaft was rotating at... any ideas anyone? sounds relatively low. my guess is about 60 RPM which would equate to about `Half` so about 15 knots.

  • So that's where dubstep came from...

  • it sounds like an ALCO...

  • sounds like my dishwasher!! XD

  • @MultiSuperSonic1000 it LOOKS like mine!

  • Yes, I could dance to that.

  • v8 big blocks and big steam engines have the best and powerfull sound in my opinion!

  • @kaivanfreak mines are: these things and giant 16V645 and 710 engines

  • What a fantastic beat!!

  • my ears hurt :)

  • any triple expension engine will do

  • How long have u been able to watch youtube vids in 3D?

  • Like the propellors, still the biggest of their kind ever.

  • 0:07 SOUND STARTS

    0:13 PISTONS START CHUGGING

    0:31 FULL SPEED!!!

  • increadable. Thank You !

  • most beautiful sound my ears ever did hear. :)

  • Lol, this is actually quite relaxing.

  • Where in the heck did you manage to find this sound??

  • @adfgfds my thoughts exactly! xD

  • Cool!!

  • Techno Trans nice bit!!!!!

  • Awesome

  • ich find den sound richtig gut

  • the titanic is masturbating

  • Man, that is some sound. Sure there are some big steamers around still that some one can get the sound recorded before these big monsters disappear.

  • S̴̴͚̗͕̭͎̈ͣ̐̍́ͭ͗́i̻̲̱̬̣͎̭ͯ̒̾͐ͯ̃̉l͚̘͍͈̗͋̃ͧ̿̉͑̅̀ė̸̜̝̦̣̺̦͈̾̚͠n̛͓͕̜͎̙͈͗̑̃̂ͅt̴̾ͣ̇͠҉͙̦̩̤ ̸̯̣̯̿ͧ͌́Ḩ̗̦̖̦̼̗̮̟̱̎̄ͧ̓̓̐́̑i͎̬̱͍̖͙ͬͯ̌̓̿̓̈́̚̚ͅl͉̞͚̻͍͚̬̥̓̔͛̋̅̐l̫͖̙̄ͣͫ̀̚

  • the whistle at 0:25 is absolutely fantastic

  • Love it

  • What I would like to know is what engine was used to create this recording, where is it, and when was the sound recording made. Can you provide any of this, Markus? It would be greatly appreciated.

  • Probably producing 5,000,000 lb/ft. of torque at 50 RPM!

  • poor engineers had to listen to loud sounds for hours.

  • @mariajudith100 6 hours at a time.

  • @mariajudith100 actually it's quite soothing as the engine chugs in time sorta like a metronome

  • @mariajudith100 You have to remember, this is the sound of one engine, the titanic had two. Thats a lot of noise.

  • @radeakins titanic had 2 + a turbine ^^

  • @Peace7Maker I don't think the sound of a turbine can beat the mechanical orchestra of twin steam triple expansions.

  • Where do you find this incredible sound?

  • perfect for my virtual sailor mod

  • Also mir gefällts :)

  • ja müsste i ma schaun ob sich was ergibt^^

  • @Moinsenize

    das sind andere dimensionen!

das is keine kleine spielzeug dampfmaschiene, sonder eine 9 meter hohe

  • @DJMarioV8 Das weis ich auch aber nur der Ton... Da müsste noch ne Animation dabei sein
