Does anyone recall a movie very similar to this? One that was shown to us in elementary school, had music only w/ no talking in it and was about a boy and balloons? One thing that stands out is that the boy had dozens of balloons in his possession and one day, while he was sleeping, a couple came and took all the balloons-leaving some money to the boy. The kid woke up and tracked down the balloons and found a bunch of people at a party popping all the balloons with cigarettes.

I love the original, in which the red (and blue) balloon really stood out in a world of drab and gray. That is what made this movie so charming.

It's a huge waste that the Blu-Ray preview shows oversaturation (the streets are purple and blue!) and overexposure (most of the times, the girl's dress is one white blur with no depth in it). The film was intended to have very moderate colors, so this is the worst they could have done to it! Like a photograph badly edited.

This is the shit! They had a picture book that retold this story in my local library. I asked my mom to read that to me so many times they she finally got tired and recorded it on cassette for me.
