  • DONE !! thank you Teresa!! you're the BEST!! Greetings from Argentina

  • Dear Teresa, first of all thank you so much for uploading and making these wonderful videos! You truly are teaching the word crochet..... (I live in Switzerland :) I made this hat accoring to your instructions and came out perfect. Now I am making it a little bit bigger so after round 4 I crochet one more round and then another round with increase. Continueing now my hat looks a bit bubbly. Any advice? Warm greetings from the Alps!

  • @DianavanSIlfhout Diana, Greetings to you in Switzerland. If the cap is bubbly, I suggest that you rip out the last round of increase stitches and work one or two more rounds of individual stitches to see what happens. If that is not large enough, they work another round of increase stitches. This will give you gradual increasing to eliminate the bubbling.

  • why...when i did the hat it became smaller than yours...it is coz by needle or crochet tread...?

  • I made the hat w/ 4-ply yarn & J hook, also did the stitches just under the tops (by mistake) but it worked out to my benefit (bigger) & fits my 22 month old. For a 4yr-old, is it best to have a round of same # in between (as you did w/ the 36) before you increase again (like 36, 36, 48, 48, 60) rather than just increasing after each (36, 48, 60, etc) or does it matter? Will it come out uneven? I'm having a little trial & error to make the hat the right size. Thanks for your instructions!

  • @TheCorbinfanatic I was very confused too! First off, I made 2 hats already just sliding the hook under the "top" (2 strands), they just came out a little more 'lacey' looking. So don't worry too much. That said, I figured out- on hat #3!- you dive down a little further UNDER the top of the stitch- so there're 3 strands you're under (plus the 2 already on your hook, plus 1 when you catch the yarn behind) This makes a tighter weave, which is great as this hat is for a rough&tumble 4yr old! HTH!

  • do you need to use special yarn for babies?

  • @magenite0 You can use any yarn you want to use. I would stay away from the novelty yarn with baby items.

  • I dont know if my terminology is correct here but am I correct that you are working between the posts?

  • @TheCorbinfanatic What are you finding confusing about the spaces?

  • If anyone wants to know I made this cap I only did 17 rows and it fits my 6 yr old perfectly it covers his ears too he loves it this pattern fits all 4 of my kids head sizes 17.5-22 inches thank you so much for this tutorial I love it!!

  • After round 5 in order to continue increasing to make it bigger do i just do 1 HDC, 1 HDC, 1 HDC then 2 HDC. and just increase the number of 1 HDC

  • Okay Thanks(: Have A Great Day!

  • How big is this hat like in inches? Cause im supposed to make this for a 10 year old so that would really help! Thank You(:

  • @MariahPiedad Size Estimate - 14-16 inch 36-41CM head. You will also find a link to the written instructions in the video details below the video.

  • my babys head measures 15 1/2 will this be too big? is the hat supposed to be a size smaller then the regular head size?

  • Just made this, but found that the pattern size would actually fit me, at 31 yr old, and not my 18 month old who it was intended for. Looks great on me, though :-)

  • @gracedivine If you used a larger crochet hook and larger yarn, it will turn out larger.

  • This is a great tutorial, thank you for sharing :) How would I go about making this in an adult/teenage size?

  • @jnaakins I sent you my playlist with hats. You will be able to find similar caps.

  • Hi Teresa, i love your instructions they are easy to follow, but i cant find the written instructions for this baby cap with ear flaps, i clicked the link above but it takes me to another set of instructions

  • @shaaban851 If you look below the video, you can expand the video details. There is a link to the written instructions.

  • came out great! thanks so much for this tutorial!

  • @diananaid Glad to hear it turned out well for you. :)

  • HI TERESA !

FIRST OF AL - MANY THANKS>

PLEASE , LET ME KNOW HOW CAN I MAKE THIS HAT FOR MY 16 MONTS BABY GIRL !, WOULD YOU PLEASE ?

    AGAIN MANY THANKS

    Zizi. GRANDAUGHTER

  • 2 words. THANK YOU!

  • @TheJesliTeam You are welcome. :)

  • I'm Tryin to make this hat for a three year old? How would I do that ? Like what would I increase??

  • Hey where can i find written instructions? Specifically for this pattern.

  • @chaparritalinda If you look just below the video, you can open the video details. There is a link to my crochet blog where you will find the written instructions

  • Yay I did it. This is the first time I ever made anything other than a scarf. Thank you soooo much. I'm so proud I did it. BTW my baby is 7 months old so I added another round of increases for a total of 60 stitches and that fits her perfectly.

  • I've made one hat already and it is super cute! I'm working on my second hat and I want to add a flour to it. I'm so excited! I've only been crocheting for about a week now. Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorials. I fail every time I try to read a pattern but I can follow you and the end results are always amazing! Keep up the great work!

  • Hi. I love the pattern. So easy! But how do I make this larger for 6-9 month, 12 month and so on and for my 6 & 8 year old daughters?

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...I am expecting in a few months and have spent countless energy trying to find an easy--EASY to follow beanie baby hat to make a cute hat for my daughter and I have failed miserably until last night...I actualy did it. Thanks so much--I can't wait to try out different patterns you have. I like the 15 min one shot videos..no having to skip around. Awesome--:)

  • It's been a couple of years Teresa but I learned how to crochet hats from your videos and I am now planning on learning the flap hat from this video for my 6 month old daughter!! You are WONDERFUL and so helpful for visual learners like myself :) Hat and thumbless mittens coming right up!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You make me feel like a good Mom, who is able to MAKE some fun things instead of buying them, it means much more that way :)

  • @scolby1977 So nice of you to say. Just remember, you are a good mom either way. Have fun with the baby because they grow up so fast.

  • Is it okay if I use a size 5 hook? I don't have a 5.5 and all I have that are close are the 4 and a 5. Just wondering if this will make my hat a little bigger.

  • @caseyashly You can use a size 5 crochet hook. It will make it slightly smaller. It will still work by doing more increase stitches and rounds.

  • Mine looks nothing like yours by round 3, idk why

  • @Clementscrafts What is happening with your hat?

  • uuummmm, hate to say this but very disappointed.i thought it was going to be an infant hat but it seems i was wrong.what size is this supposed to be?i would really like to make this for my baby but she is way to little to wear this.thanks.

  • @hisamazonka19 Use a smaller crochet hook. You don't have to work all the increase rounds and stitches. Do not do anymore increase stitches after round 3 and the cap will be smaller.

  • Hi tjw i have made 5 hats and i've used the right yarn, hook, and have yet to get an infant fitting hat, do you have one for an infant, i've even used smaller hooks, i getting tired of finishing a hat and can't get the right size thank you

  • DO I use a bigger hook if I want to make it for my toddler?

  • @erodas71 You can use a larger crochet hook. You may need to work more increase stitches and increase rounds.

  • I have a 3.5MM crochet needle and I want to make this hat because of the stitch you use, but how many stitches should I use to make an adult hat? I hope I made sense :) I really love your tutorials and this hat would be perfect! I like using the 3.5 because it would a tighter stitch I believe, but I can't figure out how many stitches to make. Could you please help me out? Thanks again :D

  • @Stardust201008 There will be modification and possible trial and error. You will work more increase rounds and increase stitches.

  • what is the measurment on the hat made on the video?

  • @mzzkaye 14-16 inches

  • i dont know how to say this my cap is one circle and then just comes down its not really curving like a normal hat

  • @laffytaffylalala It sounds like you may have missed increase stitches if it has curled to soon.

  • um how much yran does this use? because i have one peaches and cream small one but i used some of the yarn im afraid to use the yarn and then i run out in the end

  • @laffytaffylalala I will estimate 200-300 meters

  • @tjw1963 the ear flaps are only and option right? and thanks and about how lond does one hat take

  • @laffytaffylalala The hat will still work without earflaps. It may take about 2 hours to make.

  • i cant see this video at all the screen is black what do i do ?

  • @laffytaffylalala Update your Adobe Flash player.

  • @tjw1963 i did a while ago and checked there isnt any new update, but its working now thanks anyway though

  • @laffytaffylalala I am happy to hear it is working again.

  • hi i need your help, im trying to find the rubber piece that you use on your crochet hook. my hand hurts a lot sometimes, and i have looked everywhere but cant find it. thanks i really appreciate your help...

  • @kblinder um i dont know if this works but maybe you can use a regular grip it does fit on it ever though its not really meant for it. i have never actually worked on anything using it but its worth a shot =)

  • If this is for a baby cap...and I wanted to make it toddler sized, Do I use a larger H hook or do I just add an increase round? hmmmmm....

Let me add also that you are the BEST! You taught me how to crochet, and let me say thank you VERY much! :D (my first hat was the beret)

  • @RedPoisonousApple A larger crochet hook will make the cap larger. You can also use larger yarn to make a larger cap. Working in additional increase stitches will make the cap larger.

  • You do beautiful work :) I am new to crochet and practiced the stitches from your playlist. Then I attmepted this cap but it waves alot at the bottom instead of curving into a cap. Cannot figure what I am doing wrong. Please help!

  • @ChantillyGurl If the cap is continuing to wave and get larger, that means you are still working increase stitches. The link to the written is posted in the video details below the video so you can see the stitch count. Round 5 is the last increase round with 5 Half Double Crochet.

Round 5: 1 HDC in-between each of the next 2 st's, 2 HDC in next space; continue around to beg marker. (48 HDC total)

  • It was very wavy by the time I got to round 5 but I didnt do any more increases after that. Just the half double crochet in between each space. By row 9 it was still looking very wavy so i stopped and decided to ask you for advice. So will the cap stop waving by the time I get to row 21? I am just starting so I crochet slow.

  • @ChantillyGurl Once you stop increasing, it will curl up and form the sides.

  • @tjw1963 Thanks for your help :)

  • How would I make this bigger to fit an 19inch head?

  • @tayhoff3 You can add more increase stitch and use a larger crochet hook and larger yarn

  • Your are so awesome thanks to you my soon to be here baby will have tons of cozy things to wear I was wondering if maybe you can do a video on how to make a baby cocoon/sleep sack I've seen many online but since I'm still very new to crochet I find it very hard to do and get confused with the abbreviations as well if you could that would be great.

  • So do you have a book? I don't want it only for the directions, I just want to own something from the greatest crocheter ever!

    You are so awesome!

I found your blog (finally-lol) Thank you for sharing such a wonderful gift. I love all of your work. You are so inventive!

  • PLEASE, could you give me the directions for this same had using the half crochet stitch in an adult size!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just made one for my 6 months old daughter. It is just so cute. Thank you for sharing this . I wish I could post the picture here to show you:D

  • @janjeffs When they are posted, they will be on my crochet blog.

  • i love ur work , very clear to follow. however i dont understand why we have to choose different hook everytime we do the project. does it have to do with the yarn texture or to make your project look softer or bigger ???

  • @LovetoKnitable You do not have to change to a different hook. Sometimes it may be necessary when you are working with larger or smaller yarn/

  • Thank you for all your crocheting videos. I am a true beginner, never ever held a crochet needle!! I learned alot from your videos compared to most. I like how you count the stitches and show exactly where you put the needle thru each stitch. Though you do not completely show how to finish the entire I am able to continue the stitch to the proper length. Pretty simple. Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Please dont change how your style.... you dont need to make your videos longer or add music.

  • I really like this tutorial. I wanna go grab my crochet needles right now! I am pretty new to crochet, and have never tried this kind of stitch, but it looks nice and easy too. I want to make this for my boyfriends nephew but I only have pink soft baby yarn and I don't think he'll want to wear that. :3 I also like how you walk though the whole thing, so it feels like I can follow easily, instead of coming back saying "ok you did that many stitches, now do this" Thank you!! ^_^

  • soft background music would be fine as long as it is very soft. I so much appreciate you teaching videos. I learned when I was a teen by watching. I can't understand written directions. please keep the teaching vids coming. thank you so much!

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY TUTORIALS ON IRISH CROCHET? I'LL LOVE TO LEARN THAT KIND OF CROCHETTING

  • How much yarn did it take to make this hat?

  • do you have this in the left handed version?

  • Happy New Year and you and yours be blessed throughout this year.

  • Happy New Year, Teresa. Wish you many inspiring tutorials to share with us. Would this hat be good size for 6 months old baby?

  • Happy New Years and thank you!

  • @angel292005 Happy New year to you!

  • Nice french manicure. Happy New Years.

  • @MayaAsakura Happy New Year!

  • So cute!

  • Will there be a written pattern for this hat at some point? I'm expecting and would love to make this little hat for our new little one. :)

  • @UniquelyUndefined She post the patterns on her blog. =]

  • @tinamarie19752008 The video is the pattern.

  • Happy new year, wish you all the bestest and you're the Best!

    Nim

  • I'm a beginner and I'm really appreciative of the repetition, taking us beginning to end. Thanks. It's so much easier learning watching your videos.
