Thanks for sharing. I made last night. I had a little variation just for my taste. I cooked by cabbage on the side. However, the corned beef was great. Yummy!
@pastryparrot1 It turned out great...You just really have to adjust the cooking time of course. I added some salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning as well.
I tried this on on St Pattys day. The meat came out fantastic, The cabbage and potatoes were a little too sweet. i think if I were to do it again, I would use a stout beer, and NO brown sugar. Thanks for the vid!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too MA:) This looks great...I am not a meat eater ,but I bet I could just do the veg and it would be yummy. I would have to adjust the cooking time I'm sure. Thanks!
Beautiful! I am getting ready to corn my own brisket tonight so that I can do corned beef dinner next weekend. Last year I did my own corning and it was amazing! Only this year I will do the whole brisket because my family loved it so much. Have you ever done your own corning? It is a project, but the effort is worth the result. I may have to do a vid about it. Thanks! Noreen
Fat content is so high on Corned Beef. Somewhat lower fat if cooked separately from veggies, cooled and lean meat picked from fat. Re-heated with veggies, not as tastey, yet is lower in fat
Looks fantastic. Whenever I make corned beef & cabbage I remember my first time making it and I chopped the cabbage into small pieces. Came back to the crockpot only to find the cabbage completely dissintegrated :) Lesson learned. Will definitely give the beer a try, I've always used plain water. Thanks!
Wow...this looks so good! About how many people would you say that feeds? I think I might try it when my mother in law and hubby come to town in 2 weeks...there will be 4 adults and 1 child! Thanks for sharing~
that was great.....you had me at "cooking with beer"....lol.....can you say "corned beef brisket" three times real fast?...lol...faved and fived....thanks
As much as I love your videos, Marianne, corned beef and cabbage will never look good to me like that. I hate braised beef like that. Well done beef is a sacrilege, in my opinion. The only way I'll be doing corned beef and cabbage is in a reuben or corned beef special from a nice Jewish deli.
No offense, really. To each their own, I guess. You make everything look good, though. Even this dish.
Hahaha . . .Julia you are funny! We made some killer Reubens at the deli in New Hampshire! It wasn't Jewish but they were delish! I bet you can make a really, really good one yourself!
I was going to make my version of a Roast beef special one time, but decided not to when I didn't have much in the fridge or freezer other than the ingredients for that recipe. I was just hungry & wanted to cook something quick & not have to wait for the beef to marinade.
Once I move, I should make them. Fresh homemade cole slaw and an Italian dressing marinated sirloin steak on a fresh firm Jewish rye bread with thousand island dressing & swiss cheese...mmm...I'm salivating just thinking of it.

Thanks Allison! Yes, your veggies would be done a lot faster. Why not add other things like parsnips and sweet potatoes? Yum!

It gives it a very distinct taste. It also makes the flavor milder. You should give it a try and let us know how it comes out! Thanks for coming by!
