  • Hi, why can not start Overdrive? the Software says thay can't start

  • hey if i use windows xp with an AMD K7 @ 600mhz will i be able to overclock?i heard its possible to go to 800mhz but this procceser is so old and i cant use bios to do it. i have a better cooling system too btw

  • what program did you use to OC without BIOS?

  • @AeroFix94 AMD Overdrive

  • @elektros75 yeah i know! but when i was trying to! its says AMD Overdrive cant find the AMD 7 chipset something like that! :S

  • @AeroFix94 um... i can't help you there then, i downloaded the file from amd's website, try checking to see what your computer recognizes your chipset to be or going on amd's forums with this issue, i'd say that's your best bet as amd's technical staff checks those, as well as other more experienced techs and users do :)

  • @elektros75 Ok Thanks For The Help Anyway :)

  • @AeroFix94 It is your Mainboard. Not every amd Mainboard works with the Overdrive tool ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 i have OC it now :D i got up to 3.3Ghz but i got bluescreen and freezes in games! but i can oc to 3.2Ghz and it works? why not 3.3Ghz? i have 450w PSU!

  • @AeroFix94 You need to bump up the voltage, ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 i found in the bios MEMORY VOLTAGE i can change from 1.800V to 1.900V and AUTO! i dont know waht i am using now!?

  • @AeroFix94 You need the Cpu Voltage its called Vcore I think ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 ok :) what voltage does i need to set there if i see it?

  • @AeroFix94 You need to try it yourself. Dont do to much. Or look in the internet wich voltage do you need ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 you can tell me ehh?

  • @AeroFix94 Sry but im not using an Amd system my friend ; ) just search on google if you need help write a pm to me ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 I Found Some about PROCESSOR VOLTAGE and i can choose from AUTO, 1.350V, 1.375V, 1.400V :)

  • @AeroFix94 check with cpu z wich stock voltage you have. If you know that go a little bit higher then that ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 mine Core Voltage are on 1.104 V all the time :) so is the 1.350 V good then?

  • @AeroFix94 Try it. If It dont work and your Pc dont boot just do a cmos ; ) but I think it will be not a problem. But if you bump up the voltage you need a good cooler ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 how can a do a cmos if the PC dosent reboot????? o_O i dont want any trouble :)! and i have the standard cooler! with 4 heatpipes and the Celsius is about idle 29-30 and load about 40-45 C! :)

  • @VlogMaster100 by removing the Battery from the motherboard?? ^_^ but you will thin it works with 1.350v?

  • @AeroFix94 I think so but watch the temps ; )

  • @VlogMaster100 so you think i can change the voltage and oc to 3.3Ghz? and do fine? without PC reboot problem?

  • @AeroFix94 I think so. Some of the youtuber got over 3.5 so you can do 3.3 ghz

  • @VlogMaster100 shure???? thanks anyway! i looking at the core temp! and i get now like

    Core #0 28C Low: 26C High: 36C Load: 3%

Core #1 36C Low: 34C High: 41C Load 6% with 3.1Ghz OC! :) is that good to OC and change voltage to 1.350V? and OC to 3.3Ghz?

  • @AeroFix94 Yes. But if your playing watch the temps.

  • @VlogMaster100 i cant overclock! i get bluescreen anyway! and i turn up the voltages! =/ does i need better PSU?

  • @AeroFix94 If it dont work just leav it on 3.2 if it runs stable

  • @VlogMaster100 i cant OC to 3.2Ghz =/ only 3.1

  • @AeroFix94 I think ur motherboard doesn't use an AMD chipset.. do it use VIA or Nvidia chipset? if so AMD overdrive may not support those

  • very nice great job what theme do you have?? looks nice

  • I have mine overclocked to 3.3 ghz even.

  • rock on

  • Actually i spoke too soon. I just reciently noticed that it was not stable while playing high end games. Now I am back to 3 ghz. Crysis Warhead crashed, I got the BSOD and I had to do a hard restart.

Ohb well. It was worth a try.

    Oh well.

  • i run at 3.3ghz and found it unstable at 1.4v but when i ramped it up to 1.42 it become stable so give that a try if you can

  • ....I have an intel e7500 ,stock 2.93ghz at 4.066ghz with 20$ aftermarket cooler , never goes above 70 degrees and that's with a stress test , Intel overclocks a lot better , I've seen e5400 (800 fsb) hit 4.4 ghz 24/7 stable with same cheap aftermarket cooler......Is 300mhz a good overclock for AMD ?...

  • @mrjamesb56

apparently i cannot copy paste a reply... so, while intel is a good product, i prefer amd, and they have since January 2009 bloken an overclock of 6.5GHz (see description) , they even used liquid helium, and at 6.3GHz got the highest 3D benchmark rating at that time. now i don't know if it's been beaten yet, but basically the gloves on oc'ing amd are off with the new processors

they both have their pluses and minuses, just depends on which you choose really... oh yeah and cost

  • I oc'ed my 4200+ X2 2.2GHz to a STABLE 2.9GHz.

Thats a 0.7 GHz increase. I can also overclock it further to 3.0 but I can't go any higher than that.

    Also, I have regular aircooling.

  • @G4meTesters

Idle temps are 40 celsius and load temps are about 60 celsius

  • @G4meTesters nice m8

  • i want to over clock my cpu (same as yours) but amd overdrive doesnt work with my chipset. any tips to still overclock.

if u need more info pls ask.

  • @hound4680 test test to reply testing...

  • @hound4680

hey, i keep trying to reply, but youtube never seems to let me, no matter which computer i use...

    that being said

i did a lot of research on my CPU, it's not good to not have a handle of your system when you start messing with it. i also haven't played with overclocking in a while, but if i remember correctly i eventually had to make the changes in the Bios, as changing the OC settings from the windows desktop isn't very stable

    end part 1...

  • @hound4680

the MOST important this and best i can tell you to do is to do research on YOUR particular processor, and then once you have, slowly overclock your cpu little by little, not all at once

no point burning your cpu out =]

after each overclock stress test your system to make sure it's stable, there are programs for it,

but you can also try to run various apps at the same time to see what results you get

    end part 3

  • @hound4680

if your computer restarts, it's a good bet that you need to clock down as it's too much for the

cpu and it's heating up too much

that being said, make sure you have a GOOD if not GREAT heat sink & fan/turbine fan or liquid cooling, without it there's not real point in overclocking:\

like i said it's been a while since i've oc'd my system, and my laptop i dont mess with those setting at all [it's hot enough as it is]

but if you have any more questions i'll try and help :)

    end

  • i have 99 C

  • Unless you are trying to make toast or boil water ,that's way to high !....

  • @mrjamesb56

um,,, what is this referring it exactly

  • i'm not going to OC my 6000+ BE,

because i don't see the differents between 3.1ghz

    and 3.3hgz

  • I manage push my old good 6000+

to 3,2 ghz , stable and ice cold.

But when i run farcry2 bench test and compare the values , surprise surprise

the Fps has dropped slightly (3-5 fps) compare to orig. settings(no OC).

I was messing with it for i while and then deside to not OC anymore, bigger risk of damaging PC for nothig.Old AMD dont like OC .

This has changed since i buy phenom2 940,plesure to play with it, i run my on stock cooler 3,6ghz safe OC with no problems well done AMD(+6to10fps)

  • amd athlon 6000+ 3.3

  • im at 3309Mhz and has been for around a year now.. i have got multipliyer set at X14 and fsb at 236.

  • nice what was ur volts?

  • my voltage automaticly changes with the higher overclocking 1.500V

  • so u set ur volts on auto?

  • i guess but i didnt touch the voltage it must be set to auto already. all i know is that it sometimes is at 1.424v and then it jumps slowly to 1.500v

  • so idle is at 1.424 and full load is 1.5? what are u temps

  • temps were around 33C to 45C, but i have now put my clock back to default speed due to the sims 3 and DEP not liking it. (@_@) long story.. but i had it overclocked for 1 year and half and everything else ran fine!. when the sims 3 gets a patch will do it again.

  • nice, but what about full load or gaming

  • in gaming max was 55C in gaming, that was the highest i ever seen of it. but i have a Zalman fan so it keeps it cooler.

  • nice, no wonder ur temps are so low for me, b4 i had it stable at 3.5ghz 250*13 with volts at 1.375, now, it wont get stable anymore, so now, im running on stock with a phenom II x4 940 hsf (bought from friend), temps for idle are 25C-33C and full load is 52C, fan on idle

  • yes, when more power is required from the CPU the voltage rises.

  • nice but what are ur temps?

  • 3.39 :D

  • i reached 3.36 ghz

  • stable?

  • i have reached 3.444 with my 6000+

  • how? was it stable? or did it shut off on you,

video reply? and what are you using for cooling?

  • elektros75 if i tell you, you will not belive me i have the 6000+ 3.1gz version and the multiplyer is 15.5 and with 222*15.5 i get 3.441 and i have stock cooler if you dont belive me i will show you photos and i will make a video :D

  • hmm, looks like i have gotten it the highest here, 6000+ @ 3.31GHz, very good and not bad temps. ASUS mobo if wondering.

  • nice, what was the multiplier, core freq, volts, and temps?

  • the highest i got it was 3.39, but when I started cpuz or some test program, the pc would just restart, i found out that you need to drop the ht more, and then mess with the voltage too, so i stopped messing with it, left it at 3.27, which is where i isn't any more :)

just got a 9950 be, but that was 3 days before phenom 2's came out, LOL, no i'm not sending it back, it was an eBay sale, happy with it

  • nice i got my 6000+ to 3.30 today first time OC'in my cpu and its lovely..tried to go more with my Gigabyte mobo-crashed- :( but im happy with 3.30 for now till i get the new phenoms..they are nice planning to grab them soon. GO AMD!!!!

  • yeah, i was able to get it to 3.3, but since it's not a black edition, there's a bit more tweaking to it and i don't want to burn it out...

i also just picked up a phenom 9950 be and received it 3 days before the phenom 2's came out, ouch, but at 150, i'm not sening it back :) espeically since i've bee doing some forum searching and found that with air cooling you can take it to 3.2/3.3 aswell

  • I overclocked my AMD 3600+ up to 2.8GHz!!!Ill post a video soon.

  • q9550 @3,5 GHZ THATS OVERCLOCKING XD

  • Nice overclock try for more just keep tempos under 55-65c load 24/7 and keep vcore under 1.45-1.50v 24/7. Bench can go up to 1.50-1.60 for short durations just keep it cool.

  • hmmmm, i'll do what i can, my system is all air cooled, eclipse (heat sink-blower), 4 @ 190mm fans on the side of the case (coolermaster 830 stacker), i usually look at fahrenheight, but i'll check to see what they are at celcius

    thanks for the tips
