Why didn't you buy two, funny guy? What you really need is to buy the scratcher stuff in bulk and find some clean boxes like 12x16x5 and just cut them to fit tightly on the bottom and they will live in those things. They can bite the cardboard and sleep in them. Man ours are to keep them from constantly being underfoot. My cats have the freedom to go outside, but when in they dig'em. Be fair; buy stuff for each one. No fighting.

Just rub one piece of clothing a lot on Egon and one on Otto. Once their scents are pervasive on their respective items, rub each on a separate scratching toy and put them in different areas of the house so each cat has a toy that smells like them. Problem solved.
