Van toffler President of MTV has been quoted saying that our generation... Implying music like Wu, Metallica etc etc the 90s, makes us to "rebellious"... That is the reason music has changed.... And yes this new generation of music lacks intelligence.
ok ok. I am a down south native, ft. smith, arkansas. Midland heights blood, but i am a devoted student of the golden era. I remember being ten years old and having gurus jazzmatazz. But, that being said, although gza is a legend (def in my favorite top ten, maybe five. the south has some of the greatest emcees hip hop has ever witnessed, in outkast (andre 3000 is to me #3 behind B.I.G. and Hov at #1), Scarface, UGK, Cee lo and 8 ball and MJG. No one loves the gza more than i do man.
GZA is my favorite rapper, but he is a bit of a herb. I mean, I am sort of wondering if he can freestyle. I write similar to him and can't freestyle so I can't judge. Dude is a legend, but he is a bit too arrogant. Damn funny though. "You wanna challenge me?" XD
Find a real freestyle by dude. >_> He is my favorite rapper and i've heard everything he has ever put out, but really, he is like that. I mean, he never gets in trouble or does anything, he...is a bit too confident for the person he is.
@ocarinaoftasi that isnt arrogance lol its the truth but if it is the case name me one rapper that isnt arrogant every rapper thinks they are the best e.g. lil wayne now that dude is garbage but he still thinks he is the best every mc thinks they are better then the rest thats just hip hop lol
I don't think he was taking a shot at freestyling. He was more taking a shot at those who make whack freestyles and act like it's good just because of the fact that it was a freestyle. Long live the Genius.
GZA is the rawest man and he's telling the truth. 9/10 rappers who claim to be freestyling are NOT. They often say some shit that way too complex to make up off the spot without messing up.
i love gza and i just seen him live his performance was awesome he played all of liquid swords buthe didnt work the crowd at all nor did he sign any of my shit
I love this nigga man...telling the fucking truth man...dude is a true artist, everything he says in his lyrics has a purpose and meaning..not a bunch of nonsense to fill up a song. Every Verse and line has a purpose. Nothing against freestyle though...but what kind of well thought out message do you here during most freestyle raps?? GZA is like a Samurai...no wasted motion..every move and strike has a purpose...
I think the same, dudes like lil wayne can entertain but it dont mean much u know. Im not haten on wayne, im just sayn his lyrics and gzas r at 2 diff spectrums pretty much
I think what GZA is sayin is that a freestyler isn't gonna be nearly as in depth as a well thought out rhyme. Which is true, but at the same time, freestyles are a way to build up your verbal dexterity. It's a way to develop your style. I think if you take away freestyles you take away a pure form of hip hop, for those that don't have the money or equipment to lay a verse down, a freestyle is the next best thing.
kinda gza is mainly telling off people who make wack freestles like nowadays everybody freestyles , but with wrriten lyrics u can have better rhymes better style and flow
most nowadays mc sound dumb doing freestyle wit some exceptions

That's the worst response you could have said. I know because I've seen him freestyle over 20 times and every time it was original. I'm not saying Gza isn't good, I'm saying he's wrong about freestyling, and probably hates it just because he can't do it. J-U says it best: "Nat tried to give me some advice about my flow/He gave me the ultimate respect and didn't even know/He said stop writing your battle rhymes and freestyle more/I just smiled and said 'Now That's What I Freestyle For.'"
i love the WUTANG, but, them niggas are not for no damn children, lol lol, "OL DIRTY BASTARD IS FOR THE CHILDREN?", lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
nevawrong u r wrong and very whack if you dont think wuutang is for the children keep smokin that crack.there hole point there whole existance is to show the world whats going on in the hood.youths at 12 slinging crack catching stray bullets and catching aimed bullets for real.youths having to walk to school and getting ganked for there shit.the way they show the world may be aggressive but so is the hood.go step in a hood for a minute see whats up.
