Part 3)Now reboot the modem and test make sure it comes online once its online chill you internet is now free go ahead and cancel your subscription and wow guess what its still on no bills, the mac number is the bit that looks like this starting 00:14:6A or 00:0E and is what you sniffed with dhcp these are all diffrent for each modem and is what the isp use to identifie each customer and let them online when you changed your macto one you sniffed you just cloned another customer;s modem.

Part 2) Also if you have an open boot loader with the 'p' or '1' option at boot in telnet your can hack ur modem to do much more than just up the speeds, Use a programme called DHCP sniff and leave it runings all/most of day you will get a list of mac numbers these are other modems on network now save this file, go back into telnet and alter the mac number stored on your modem to one from the list you made with dhcp sniff.

PART 1) Just to correct this video your cable modems image is stored on the modem its self in a flash chip ie. Image1/Image2 the tftp server holds the config files which as you rightly said has your upload and download settings plus any other setting bpi ect. and be edited and then also be stored on the modem's flash and set to force boot this config instead of the one the isp gives, just make modem do fake tftp download so isp thinks you are using right config.
