Bono's version just has so much angst (in the best possible way) and passion in his voice, Keane's version is gentler, softer and sweeter. Sort of like Bono's actually living thru the torture of it right at the moment as he's singing and Tom's still merely contemplating how horrible it might be if it did happen.
