HDMI to Component Converter

I have a dell xps laptop with hdmi. I want to connect my laptop to a CRT monitor (VGA).

Does using this Converter I will be able to play the CRT image, for example, 800 x 600 100 Hz?. Is this Converter I can connect the headphones and microphone?

So If my tv has no audio jack, I can use this to converter to run my tv in 1080p and hook up my 3.5 mm jack speaker system? Or is that not possible? Help :(

wouldn't you be better converting the hdmi to dvi and using seperate audio cables (unless you dont have dvi)

@11orem Thats what I do with my 360 connecting to my PC screen. I use a simple HDMI to DVI plug and then bought Line IN audio cables so I could plug in sound through my PC.

does this device works from ps3 hdmi, to hdmi splitter, hdmi splitter to your hdmi to component converter, converter component wires to avermedia dvr, avermedia dvr usb wires to laptop? will it show on my laptop? will i be able to capture game play?

I'm trying to get true surround sound on the speakers, but they only have analog connections. I was hoping I could connect a hdmi cable from the PS3 into this converter, and then connect the speakers into the 3.5mm input on it? Think that would work?

@ShturdyLad Hi!. I believe the x-450 does not have optical input, so you can't connect it directly.

A few questions

1. Can you set the resolution to 1080p and convert it to 720p? Or does it have to be set to 720p?

2. How the heck are you getting sound? You don't have sound plugged up.

3. Can you output VGA and component at the same time?
