damn the garden exploded. i couldnt stand it when ewing, spree, houston and the other great knickerbockers retired. i havent watch a full knicks game for 3 years up until now.
I was at this game with my mother, we were eight rows behind the Pacer's basket. I remember this play clear as day: we were in a position that was almost in a straight line with the ball's arch as it left LJ's hands. In that split second before it went in, I thought "oh shit, that's going in." Sure enough it did and the Garden exploded. My mother jumped in my arms and was hysterical. Awesome memories, I'll never forget that day.
As knick fan from the Tri-State erea. THOSE Knicks VS Pacer series were the NBA championship. Hopefully you understand what I meant by that. It had everything in those games. Tremendous plays on both ends. They were bitter rivals. Reggie was one of the most feared and respected players. The crowd would gasp when he got the ball. Those were the days. Patrick never got the credit he deserved.
I loved LJ, I was a UNLV fan during the Tarkanian era. having said that, there was a horrible call by the ref on this play. There's no way that Larry was in the act of shooting (even by the NBA's loose continuation standards). Still the Knicks were a gutty team that year and deserved to beat the Pacers.
He deserves to go to the HOF due to accomplishments in college and with the Hornets. A fantastic physical player who doesnt get the dredit he deserves. The man still had a career with a bad back that would have retired any other player.
I remember those Chicago NY playoff battles in the early to mid 90's. it seem like no matter what the knicks did, jordan & the bulls always triumph *lol*
the description says they won the championship. no they didnt. they lost to the spurs in 1999 finals. also this 4 point play bullshit, major phantom call there. knicks big market team. FIX, well manipulated knicks favor, of course they had to milk the series to get more money out of it, but the league allready decided the series before it even started.
i did compile this i have uploaded the full thing from the MSG special aswell but that goes for 8 minutes so i used clips from that to make a shorter version for people to watch so they wouldn't have to watch an 8 minute video.
i know. I compiled it from various clips in the long version which i have also uploaded for those who wish to see this incredible moment in it's entirety.
I compiled this so people would not have to watch an 8 minute video.
i know i remember watching that game it was in my church's basement after service and when he hit that shot we all LOVED it!! there is no better footage of a crowds reaction, than that night at MSG :)
Made my ass, you dope it has the MSG logo right on top, it's a commercial I've seen about 100 times on the network. For those not in the area there's an MSG network that he took this from.
i merely shortened the long version so people wouldn't have to watch a 7 minute video. People are able to see this moment in a short video which i think is suitable for them and even for me to relive this great moment. I'm sorry that i gave the idea that i made this video from my own videos i edited the original long video with the bits that i wanted to put in and then added music. Sorry if this has caused any problems for anyone.
this is not a commercial or if it is for some weird and odd reason is i didn't know about it. I compiled this video from clips and added music. yes it has the MSG logo on it its because i edited the program that was shown on MSG which was the longer version about this playoff moment.
A great moment in Knicks history. You should specify tho...that it led to them winning the CONFERENCE championship. We're still waiting for that elusive NBA title...perhaps sometime this century?? Hehe

Negative. I stand by what I said. Even the ref Jess Kersey admitted later that he messed up this call.

I wonder if he (Kersey) was one of those NBA company men Tim Donaghy said Stern used to fix games.

to clarify, what I meant was that Larry was fouled before the shot on this play.

Exactly what "championship" are you talking about. They sure didn't win an NBA championship if that's what you're talking about.
But yeah, this is one of the most memorable plays ever.

dude theres no such thing as a body check retard and Tim Donaughy probably was the ref.
thenextMVP23 3 years ago
There was contact but WAY before the shot. They called it as continuation but I think it should have been a non shooting foul.
neosmndrew 3 years ago
Dude when he heard the whistle he put up the shot. That's a continuation.
I don't understand how you don't get that's a foul.
He bumped him when he was facing him, that's a foul. LJ shot when he heard the whistle
