  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He's good but his timing is off in this one, just a little too much behind the beat in certain parts.

  • Asian Gary Willis.

  • This lad is a bass player

  • GWB !

  • back sound to high...

  • Clearly talented. Hasn't developed his own style...yet. Virtually every aspect is Gary Willis- bass, Right hand technique, sound, lines. don't know how old he is, but I wish i had been that advanced at that age.

  • Comment removed

  • mi ampli es igual al tuyo muy bueno

  • great tone ! you use harmonics very well. what kind of effector do you use ?

  • Great playing, but the 'playing bass' to 'playing music' ratio is loaded too heavy on the 'playing bass' side for my taste.....break away from the Willis-ness of it too....otherwise you'll end up a Willis clone...but NOT Wiliis....I have simliar problems on the Jaco side of things hehe

  • dude ur like awesome to be able to play fretless

  • Gary Willis style, YEAH!

  • grosso pendejo.. Te falta mostrar la jeta, así te conocemos..

  • great job !

  • What kind of bass is that, and how much do they cost, and where can one get one.

  • @420captain That looks like a Gary Willis 5 string fretless...not sure how much they cost, but I think that's gonna be my next bass too... :)

  • hey man! that's great!!! were can i find any sheet or tab of Gary 's songs? or you just send me some. hehe..

  • Good??? Hahaha! A laugh! No time to groove!

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah ur so stupid

  • wow great groove man! your really good

  • wow dude, nice groove. How old are you??

  • Where Is The Chicken...??

  • @fredrickson1 If you can't hear it, your not listening good enough

  • your playing is great! the improv is awesome, nice job.....

  • nice matt garrison´s technique... great play

  • Nice tone and exiting impro :)

  • mine is better watch it

  • that was so sick. and by sick, i mean fucking awesome! 5/5!

  • Is that Hartke an A100? Sounds as a god combo with a fretless...

  • @colombian12345678910

Really? I think his interpretation sounds great! If he plays it the Jaco way I'm sure it would sound great, but it would just be a second rate Jaco player. That's the last thing a bass player finding his own style would want. Coming up with your own variation is much more rewarding and fun! Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to bash you - to each his own.

  • @ZappaFan101 "coming up with your own variation is much more rewarding"!!! but he sounds a lot like gary willis (who's considered by many as a second rate jaco player by the way)

  • @Fjord76

Yeah, you're right. When I made that comment, it was before I even knew who Gary Willis was.

  • @Fjord76

I don't know of any musician that considers Gary Willis to be a second rate Jaco player. That's insane to think that. Jaco pioneered and Gary Willis advanced and evolved it to a higher level.

  • @henryoak2001 i didn't mean that's a good thing but i heard that many times (probably from narrow minded people indeed)

  • @Fjord76 Gary sounds nothing like Jaco, who are the "many" you're talking about?

  • ummm.... no? Jazz and all good music, are born out of improvisation.

Why replicate? We aren't robots, you know.

  • @colombian12345678910 what for???? whats the point of playing bass then..... if youre not gonna add something to the instrument......then just drop it

  • Shit man! Where did you learn to play like that?

  • dont use dildos for sex.. dont use a bot for your bassplaying ;o)

  • your good but your drum machine is vastly overpowering your playing

  • @dalcon555 wouldn't say vastly. I can hear the lines clearly

  • @dalcon555 you dont have good speakers.

  • @dalcon555 ahh what do you know... sounds great!

  • @dalcon555

the levels are perfect.. the drum machine gets louder every time the camera zooms in, thats what youre hearing.

  • i need a wooden block -_-

  • fretless....

    sounds much nicer...

  • this is pretty awsum guy.. just keep on :)

  • It's nice man, with a couple of licks inspired by gary willis. But very few fretless players really play "in tune", even great pros... Hard job!

  • Hey Wick,

    He played it very well!

But I have an opinion on playing fretless. When playing Fretless it isn't always about playing in tune... because if it was then you might as well play a fretted bass.

    All the best,

    Floyd

  • Hello floyd, i didn't mean that this guy sucks, otherwise I would have comment "hard blowjob"......More seriously, when a bass player plays fast on a fretless, he often loses the wonderful intonation of this particular instrument. It's a shame! I just heard a few of them keep everything in the pocket : the one and only Jaco, gary willis and alain caron (although I don't appreciate his approach of music). However, this guy -jacogrow, plays great lines with good time feeling. Good stuff!

  • Amazing dude...

Love that Ibanez GWB1005...One of my dream bass...

  • Does anybody know the reference of that ibanez bass?

  • its a GWB35 (cheaper) or a GWB1005 (expensive) I think, Gary Willis signature

  • thanx

  • GW-1 Gary Willis signaure

  • this was improved wasnt it?

  • hasta se pone el jockey como gary willis

  • pow cara muito bom mesmo. abração

  • this vid kinda makes a bass player want to quit 'cause this kids got it already. lol

  • You just funked the feathers off that chicken!!! can you tell me the difference in the sound and quality in the lower priced model bass ....That is some of the best jammin i have heard in awhile!

  • Great playing. i hear alot of gary willis in you.

  • Dude that left knee is a fucking met.

i've been trying to solo this song forever.

  • uu riqht bout that left leq..

  • dammmmmmm dude.

    nice playin...great style and skill.

nice fretless too. minez a rogue lol

  • whats that thing under the strings, where you pick for

  • the wooden block is to increase sustain

  • No, the wooden block is a ramp, so your fingers dont dig in too deep, and give you a faster, more clean tone.

  • oh right, i was getting that confused with a fat finger

  • It's called a ramp. Prevents you from digging too hard and serves has a rest for your thumb from string to string.

  • Nice - chillin to the chicken.....

  • dude you are getting a great soundout of that thing nice

  • wow... excellent interpretation, i can see your gary willis influence. but... the thing isn't create your own style?...

  • it's the evolution of a player..

  • I love your playing you are very inspiring.

  • nice copy ¬¬'

  • hi gary willis...kkkkkkkkkk...fuck is that?

  • i like the unique grain on your ramp ^_^

  • Derr...

  • nice pickup guard??? LOL

  • Its actually called a ramp .

    invented by Gary Willis.

If you want to have the total control over your dynamics ,GET ONE!!!!!!

  • OK ?

  • ya...so that means i dont know much about bass...if you didnt catch that.. :/

  • Are you stoned dude

  • I sat through 5 minutes of that and all I can say is: someone needs a new drummer. I can get a better pocket out of a metronome.

  • geez, tell me about it, I'm a drummer and there's no WAY I could do that. I'm way too spaztic on the drums...

  • its bloody drum machine goddamit.

  • A bloody terrible drum machine.

  • blah. how is it terrible? dont get it. its a MACHINE, not a human. supposely you can say that a machine does terrible job. lol.

  • There's a lot of things wrong with what you're implying, but I guess I should clarify my previous statement: I didn't mean to say that the timing was off or anything, just that I think it's a shitty, shitty groove. The kind of shitty groove that a shitty kind of drummer might play because he's listened to too much shitty 18/39 time fusion drumming.

  • well if he listened too much of it that doesnt necessarily that it is shit, you just dont like it.

  • I know you left this comment 3 months ago.

But that's a straight 4/4 beat. The accents are just strange because they're on the offbeat.

  • nice job!

  • nice over-tones at 1:40-43

  • decent but i could just learn more from the gary willis clinics on here

  • Wrong... :S

  • a fretless doesn't have any frets... frets act as sort of "pitch catchers", if you will. you press down the string behind the fret, but the vibration stops at the fret. the frets are placed in specific positions so that the length of the string allowed to vibrate at a given fret corresponds to the pitch it is supposed to be (provided your bass is tuned properly). that may be confusing... but basically if your fretted is in tune, you can't play anything flat or sharp.

  • yes, thank you.

  • thanks for the fret defintition...i always knew that but couldnt put it into words

  • Basically on a fretted you can only hit semitones without bending. Take intonation into consideration. It is not possible to have the 13th fret exactly an octave above the 1st fret.

A fretless can produce all semitones plus quartertones. After that, the ear can't tell the difference (unless you have perfect pitch).

  • I can tell intonation differences beyond quartertones. A quartertone flat is pretty darn flat..

  • i went to university during the eighties and found my inspiration in jaco. that was quite a few years ago, and you just lit the fire again. thank you, and i just realized what i did wrong when it comes to finger positioning. cheers, and keep it up!

  • you a great talent.....like your bass too.

  • Dang kids these days - how's an old bass player like me to keep up? Nice playin' - good creative line in your head...

  • he's been playing bass for ages. aint kid anymore! lol.

  • good but you play exactly like willis

  • Slick - loose and tight - nice.

  • You are an amazing bass player!!!

Hold your groove! You are The Cat!

  • So good!!! 5 stars :)

  • Nice groove, man!

  • 5 stars!

  • IM-PRESIONANTE

  • Yes!

  • Meatflowers obviously not listened to any good music in his time. Ur an idiot

  • so why you watch it?

  • for the same reason you replied to my comment.

  • excellente technique

  • wonderfull super extra bravo

  • i want that bass!! to expensive for me though =(

  • totally badass

  • Give us more!!!!

  • amazing bass...

  • Beautiful tone, congrats!

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!

  • hehe, Playing something is easy, but coming up with that something is what makes the difference :P

  • this is from gary willis clinic

  • really cool

  • great job man..i love the righthand..wow!!!

  • Mini Gary Willis

  • excellent! very nice groove!...and unusual cover!

  • I hear a lot of microtones... Do you play in arabian oriental microtonal scale? Cheers, Actooon

  • This IS a Gary Willis fan right here.

  • you like Gary Willis, don't you ? ;-)

  • very good, but the lines sound a bit disconnected in places, try and make parts fit together better, they might sound great on there own but together is a different thing.

    nice bass btw sounds amazing

  • well done interesting finger technique

  • congratulations from argentina!

  • it ends randomly

I was really gettin into it and then it just stops :\

  • buena calcomania de gary willis.

  • nice

  • my god,... great

  • Fantastic. Love the intonation and especially the sound of that GWB Ibanez!

  • fartypantwinner=

  • Chill out, man. Just chill.

  • Amazing this is definatly the best chicken solo ive found so far =D

  • dude kick ass! you've given me a tone of ideas on what to do for a solo on this song

  • the world is yours:)

  • good job

deberias ser un poco mas original y no andar copian a gary willis

  • He's got the cap to match the bass :D

Really though, great playing, someone's definately a huge Willis fan.

  • Amazing! I asume you know of Alain Caron!

  • He knows willis a lot better!

  • Very impressive! I love it.

  • Awesome!

  • good!
