Very nice. Rehearsal is important, so is the magic of editing. I started with Julia Child's recipe and over the years I've made a few changes. Now I make it in one pot and with a simplified method. Still tastes pretty good. Hope you might take a look sometime. Thanks for a great video of a classic recipe!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO MORE JULIA CHILD'S RECIPE'S YOU ARE THE BEST I HAVE SEEN COOKING THEM. MAINLY BECAUSE YOU COOK MANY YOU SHOULD DO WHAT JULIE ON JULIE AND JULIA THE MOVIE DID. EXCEPT ON YOUTUBE. LOVE YOUR VIDS.
@Ruhnezmei89 Ha! Thanks for the vote of confidence. Since the last video, I moved and stopped with the videos because I just don't have time. But I would love to start again. Your all-caps comment may be my kick in the rear. And by the way, I don't see anything wrong with quantity over quality in this realm.
The entire video went South when the kitchenware couldn't accommodate portions and ingredients. I think your experience could have been a lot better if you had bigger pots. I would have said less ingredients but you were following a recipe.
@TheTracieLee yes, maybe you don't have a high end kitchen, top of the line cookware but you work with what you have and that's what a good cook does.It looked fine and im sure it was excellent...great job.
@natsavali I wouldn't say South, just made it more troublesome for herself - it does help to have a cast iron dutch oven to make this in, in my experience. You can usually find them reasonably priced at TJ Max.
Quite the amazing video, many thanks. This fast-moving format is very helpful as I prepare to cook the dish myself. And I am VERY impressed with your meat, if I may say so. I will definitely be looking for a good butcher who can give me something similar. (It would be fun to repost this same video, but with a different soundtrack -- where you can hear the people in the background rail against Barack Obama, who really sucks as a president.)
It looks so delicious and I love the step by step filming. You seem to your way around a kitchen. I did a recipe of Boeuf Bourguignon, once, a long time ago and it seems there was not as much wine involved. The recipe I had was not from Julia Child. Did she really put that many cups of red wine onto the beef ?
@ghyslou Yes, it's supposed to be that much wine! I swear! And I go according to the recipe. Thanks for the comment. :) I have a feeling it might've tasted better without so much wine.
@thisworkinprogress7 Yes, definitely an all day thing! I was worn out by the end of the day! I started around 1:00 p.m., and we were eating by 6:30 p.m. or so, I think.
@hatebugs You know, I was expecting more. My sister liked it a lot, but I was a little underwhelmed. I'm not really one for wine in my beef, so that's probably why I wasn't blown away. :)
that looks absolutely delicious!

@natsavali Yeah, everything just barely fit. You don't know until you try the recipe though. This was my first (and last) time cooking this.

@ghyslou Just checked - the recipe does in fact ask for three cups of wine.

how many quarts is that steel pot you cooked it in? and did you use the full recipe?
ecardon 11 months ago
@ecardon I'll check how big the pot is tonight. I'm not sure, offhand. Yes, I use the full recipe. Thanks for the comment. :)

@ecardon The pot comfortably fits 16 quarts of liquid.
