From one comedienne to another, you are great.. Having lived away from Trindad for sooooooo long. So many times, I have to call my childhood friend to remind me of the meaning of some of the words. I will give you a ten.
English kids would not be able to use tenses now! Anyway all kids now in London talk with an accent that is strongly influenced by the West Indians who came here in the 50s-60s. Well my father is Trinidadian and my mother is English so I talk with a London accent but I grew up with the Trinidad accent!
@mkmfilms2009 Me too I'm half English and half Trini, and I always notice people in and around London talking with a West Indian influence (although half of them don't know it they think it's a London thing!) I also have a London accent but grew up with a Trini mother so could switch on the Trini whenever needed ha ha!!
@natsannho My dad is from T&T...He grew up speaking Hindi until he got sent to school at 8 and had to learn English! In those days Indians were seen as Agriculturalists...it was the Canadian missionaries who started to educate the Indo-
Trinidadians! Now all London peeps kiss their teeth and talk with a WI influence! More Jamaican than Trinidadian! Back in the day it was seen as cool and its influence spread to what it is today! My family is from Pasea Tunapuna! But I have family all over!
@mkmfilms2009 I know very true my great grandfather knew very little English and only spoke Hindi, and my grandpa was brought up speaking Hindi as a boy. I was in T&T a few yrs ago and an old lady said something to me in Hindi, and she didn't speak to me in English at all, did not know what she said unfortunately but this was only a few years ago! It was amazing to see that now. But that is rare though obviously Trini talk is different nowadays! My family is from Marabella!
@natsannho my family is from marabella too and my mom speaks proper hindi too and my grandmother can speak and write it very well and my mom is 3rd generation
