This guy was the real deal...and he NEVER phoned it in. I was sneaking into clubs in NYC under age in the early 80's to see this band as many times as I could. They were just amazing, and he was just priceless. At the time I was too young to understand he was suffering from serious drug addiction, but man oh man, even with that, you just couldn't touch this guy's talent. I am so terribly saddened that he's not here anymore, but so grateful for these video postings. Love to you in heaven Willy!
Willy de Ville is the legend! Breakthrough with punkrockers at GBGBs. Then accordion and castaniettes a la flamenco.. Talk about being original. He's in our hearts eternally - we dance to his great romancing beats!! :-)
l used to see Mink De ville,at cgbg's ,and a few of the other punk clubs in NYC in the 70's,they were amazing,Willy could have been the next Springsteen imo.
Without Youtube and the uploader i would never have seen these guys behind the song. Great to watch and what a song it is of course. Would like to have seen them live- no chance now. Top marks. Thanks.
Saw Mink DeVille here in the UK in 1977 (was it really that long ago?) could never understand how they weren't bigger.
Listening to "Cabretta" it makes me wonder how an album recorded in 1977 can, in 2010, sound so fresh, so contemporary - how is that even possible?
Still listen to Mink DeVille, and all Willy's stuff- there is an online petition to get Willy DeVille inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame, hope everyone signs it, Willy deserves it.
had the greatest pleasure to see willy live and he didnt disappoint, one of the coolist concerts ever, youll be missed willy ,but the music lives on' RIP WILLY..
Frickin awesome, i defy anyone to listen to that and not tap their feet. I never realised when i was growing up listening to him... just how ice cool he was.
