Finally found a none complicated pudding thanks to your video going to make this now for my partner who loves it Thanks ..... Also is that a Yorkshire accent you have?
This bread pudding looks very good, but it doesn't look like you put much sugar in it. 2 Tablespooons won't make it very sweet, will it? Also, isn't it best to bake the bread pudding inside a water bath?
Delicious and different sort of bread pudding! My recipe is more time consuming! Also i have a butter rum sauce, that is divine. I think the fact you scald the milk makes your custard part, just delicious looking! yum
Oh..I love love bread pudding. My grand made this all the time with whatever fruit was in season.Thx for bringing back fond memories. I will have to make this Sunday.
I love, love, love bread pudding but never knew it was something I could prepare. Thanks. I think I will make this on New Years Eve. I might make it with dried cranberries, since I love them so much!
Interesting never knew how that was made. Thanks for sharing that. I am assuming you weight it down for awhile to allow the bread to soak in the pudding mixture.
This was a nice one. I could eat that whole bowl. I think I'm going to keep watching and commenting just to see if you come up with a good cookie recipe. I can't wait to hear you call them cookies.
Thanks for the recipe Twish:-) I love learning recipes that are traditional in other countries. I've had bread pudding before but this looks different than what we do here in the U.S. and very easy. I've never heard of raisins being called saltanas before either? Interesting? Have a Happy New Year! Nora & Chip
So eggs and sugar is all you need with the milk to make custard? And I always bought this custard powder to put milk with it - doesn't look so difficult.
Yes, if you just wanted custard to pour over apple pie or something...make it the same way i describe...but once you've combined the warm milk with the eggs and sugar...pour it back into the pan and heat whilst stirring and the custard will thicken...you can add vanilla essence if you like too
I'm loving these recipes, Twish! This is another English tradition I've never tried. I've had an old American version of bread pudding, but not at all like this. Another for the list of yummy things to try.
I make it sort of the way you do except I do not cut the crust off the bread or butter the bread; but I do add melted butter into the milk, egg and sugar mixture. I also mix in one box of vanilla instant pudding. Now you just made me want to make so bread pudding YUM!
core!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love bread and butter pudding! Yours looks soooooo good i wish i was there 2 have some.... though there would be none left for no1 else lol. mmmmm gr8 video
This time of year, we tend to put that sort of concern to the side, don't we? I must admit to wondering if it would work with whole wheat bread and agave syrup instead of white bread and white sugar! I seem to be drifting toward remaking old family recipes but with healthier ingredients. If I try this one, I'll let you know the results. :)
Trish you have brought back a flood of memories with these 2 cooking videos. As you know we were very poor when I was a child and rice pudding and bread pudding were 2 desserts we had often. I now know it was to use up leftover rice and leftover bread. Mom actually used biscuits to make bread pudding ( not cookies)
Oh but we rarely had raisins in anything except at Christmas. They were not a necessity in our home. Living on a farm , we always had an abundance of fresh eggs, homemade butter, and milk from our cow..
