  • Is this better than Memrise?

  • @shansik Nah. I think Memrise is good, but it's only good for building vocabulary for now. I like their methodology for doing this very much. The problem though is, just like a program like Rosetta Stone, you have to use other programs if you are interested in becoming proficient in a language. While vocabulary is important, one must be able to use constructions as well. LingQ has all of this. Not only will you learn vocabulary from a context, a lot of constructions could be learned as well.

  • Have you heard of lang-8?

  • @Darkienzo1 yes, I have

  • Moses,

Do you really listen to the same stuff 1000 times ? Isn't that too much ? That seems loads to me.

    Paul

  • @pablobradley Yes sir. Sometimes more.

  • You may alsotry "Learning With Texts (LWT)", a FREE alternative to LingQ, downloadable from Sourceforge.

  • @lwtproject Thanks

  • @laoshu505000 can you make a video review of that? Like how to use it, if it's good or not?

  • @Beeeeaaaaaarrjew OK. I will go through it either tonight or early tomorrow then give my review on it.

  • @laoshu505000 thanks

  • @Beeeeaaaaaarrjew You may search YouTube for "lwt fluentczech". FluentCzech made a very good video about LWT. You'll find more reviews etc. also on lwt.sf.net.

  • @lwtproject it's too difficult for regular mortals like me to get a grip of lwt

  • @lwtproject Do you still develop the project, by the way?

  • @eugrus Not in the moment. I only answer questions in the LWT help forum. The system is in my opinion bug free, and has all the features most learners need (even many features that LingQ does not have!). The LWT offered by Benny has some problems/bugs due to the changes he implemented, so I recommend to use always the original version offered at lwt.sf.net. Try it!

  • @lwtproject I did)

  • cool. although maybe if you went through some of the actual studying in the video it would probably make more sense. maybe i will give this ling a try.

  • Thank you for the video. I have bad experiences with these sites. I'll check LingQ out, but I'll use my spam e-mail address. Usually when you sign up for a thing like that, you're flooded with special offers and discounts the following day with no end. I remember spanishpod101 and similar ones that wanted to give a 50% discount because I even managed to check the recordings.

  • @rafalbielec I haven't experienced anything like that from LingQ

  • @rafalbielec I have a LingQ account. You never receive junk e-mails about discounts or anything like that. The only e-mails you'll get are weekly unpdates concerning your progress.

Most people who use LinQ for free, but getting access to more advanced aspects of the site cost depending on what package you choose.

I highly recommend LingQ if you are a dedicated language learner and are willing to study independently.

    Good Luck! :)

  • Ups, I just saw the text Steve K. added to the German lingq lesson: Ich will viele neue Wörter und Phrasen lernen....where actually "Phrasen" is a very strange word for a beginner :) Usually "phrase" is "Satz" [der Satz, die Sätze] in German. So it should be: Ich will viele neue Wörter und Sätze lernen.

Just to let you know. Maybe you already know that word as well :) Keep up your videos, great job! All the best from Germany

  • Would you recommend LingQ for someone who is still establishing a basic core in a language? I like my audio course because of it's continuity and repetition. Would LingQ be too random for someone in the lower levels?

  • @raydenovo It works very well for beginners. Just give it a try and see how you like it.
