It is NOT the same as landing a normal plane. The "runway" on a carrier is extremely short. The planes have 'hooks' to catch one of 4 arresting cables that are stretched out across the landing portion of the carrier. Notice the increase in whine right before she hit the deck? Right before touchdown, regardless of whether they know they've grabbed a cable, they hit full throttle just in case. If you haven't grabbed a cable, you'll be at full throttle for a go-around. If you have you'll stop
